Funny how players don't matter now with GT but they do with Forza that's given away on a subscription service.

Well, GTS is the best online racing game of the PS4 gen but it was sold for 19 bucks one month after it launched. Its when I bought it, right before the update came out. Even Sony slashed its price on the PS Store by then.

That was only for a holiday sale and it went back to full price after. It wasn't permanently cut till a year later.

At least in Europe it was never full price again. It was released Octobre 2017 for 60 Euro and already from November 2017 on it was 99% of the time below 30 bucks.

Can't wait for the return of Gran Turismo with GT7.
Everything about the game looks amazing, the PS3 games were great but had some compromises due to technical and time limitations (see the premium and standard cars...), GT Sport was great but online focused.
GT7 seems to be the first fully uncompromised package since the PS2 days basically

Was it on PS+ or Now recently? Otherwise i doubt GTS suddenly gained 6m players in 10 month when it took them 3,5 years to gain 9,5m, because in February we officially were at 9,5m.

That is old data… the interview happened in 2020.
GTS reached 9.5m in around March 2020.

It never had a PS+ or PS Now version.

BTW after COVID the avg. registered players doubled per day… it was 7-8k per day and increased to 17-20k per day during the COVID period.

Other games were dirt cheap on sales too and didn't make a 6 million jump years after the release. I rather think it's 15m registered people, not 15m GTS players. But maybe Polyphony Digital studio boss Kazunori Yamauchi will give some official numbers when GT7 releases.

The account is only created after you enter in the game at least once and it is tied to PSN account.
BTW beta accounts change status to GTS accounts when you play the main game too.

Did you never played the game?
You need to launch and enter in the main screen of GTS first to have a GTS account... and only somebody that played the game online once have a account too.

Maybe you are right and my feeling is absolutely wrong, but >7 million new players in like 10 months still sounds too much for an old game. At that time, there were 13.412.701 registered player account e, so It seems that Poliphony counts its player with a different criterion. Maybe they don't count different account from the same IP address?

The rule is each PSN Account hat played the game once have a GTS Account.
The unique id of the GTS account is the same as your PSN Account.
You can't create two accounts with the same PSN Account.

You can't because it is another site for GT7 and API.

BTW you can only register a account launching the game with your PSN account... there is no other way... you need at least reach the Main screen of the game and accept the GTS Terms.

Man i wish i knew that before embarassing myself. When i clicked this topic i remembered the news from February and instantly said no way it's 16.7m now when it was 9,5 in early 2021. ~3m per year in Corona makes much more sense and is absolutely possible. I officialy state that i made a mistake/was wrong and 16.7m players is impressive.

Using the profile number count (it started on 1000000) from yesterday time I posted the thread to now:

- 12-13 hours
- Yesterday last created account tied to PSN EoAlvaro: 16701026 (https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/user/profile/16701026/overview)
- Right now last created account tied to PSN Raj_0011: 16708793 (https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/user/profile/16708793/overview)

Total of 7,767 new PSN accounts that played GTS.

If it continues at that rate it will probably be around 15k new players in 24 hours... about the average I talked before post COVID... it was average around 7-8k in 24 hours for 2019 before COVID started.

PS. If people thinks it is not player accounts lol... for example EoAlvaro drived 34 miles since he created the accouont.

- Each GTS Account is tied to a single PSN Account.
- You can have multiple accounts but you need multiple PSN Accounts.
- GTS Accounts are only created when you accept the terms in the main screen of the game when you launch it the first time.

So the numbers can be interpreted as 15m+ PSN Accounts played GTS at least once.

It is a more restrictive metric than Forza games for example that counts free trials players.... GTS had no trial and GTS Beta is counted as Status = 2 (it changes to 1 when you accept the terms of GTS main game in the main screen... it don't create a new GTS account but change the status only).
