You take the L in:

Largely more of the same ≠ more of the same.

You look silly. LuL

Lmao, the L is burning you. Sorry, you lost. All you can do is argue semantics. That’s when you lost.

Good for you pal, nobody is asking u to watch it. But the fact is that this game has been announced since 2020 and all they have to show for it is an underwhelming three minute trailer. That's unheard of for a big Sony game.

This

They keep saying the game comes out this year, but nothing to show for it

And a Blog post with "pre-order now" doesn't cut it

Represent.

You’re begging and moaning because you want to. You don’t have to do anything lol.
Stop being such an apologist for these mega corporations, jesus - They don't care about you.

Some people cant take criticism of their fav brand without being offended smh.

Theres nothing wrong with calling out a compnay for SHIT communication. I spent $750 CDN on a fucking PS5, update me on the fucking games.

20m+ people bought the first game, who cares about the people that didn't play it?
Still talking about the not 20m+ sold copies on Steam from your original post:

”You don't think people want "more of the same"? The game just released in January on PC and got a 93 Metacritic score and overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam.”

”I never even said it sold well on PC (I have no idea of how well it sold), it literally has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam and that is what I mentioned.

My point was that the original game aged really well”

To clarify:
Those who played the Steam release loved it. Those who didn’t play the Steam release wanted something else.
We have no idea if the rest of the market, or fans, actually wants more of the same.

That’s why a new trailer is needed to show that it isn’t just more of the same.

My friend, you have to understand is that I don’t care if they announce it now or later, I’m not getting worked up over this. What is annoying is the threads getting bumped all the time because impatient anxious people can’t control themselves. If you want to get worked up over nothing, be my guest.

Language is important. Is the way we comunicate with each other.

If you say "this game is trash" when you actually are trying to say: "this game is just ok or good". There is a huge difference.

Social media/internet discourse is so full of hyperbolic bullshit and misleading/bias arguments that would make kratos shit his pants

Dude, I’m tired. You devolved to semantics, that’s when you lost. I’m right, you’re wrong, it’s fine.
There’s nothing else to discuss. Just accept defeat.
I’ll even throw you a bone and let you have the final word you so desperately seek, but I’m not replying to this subject anymore. I’m feeling really good with my W.
It is what it is.

You started to talk about semantic bro. You were the first one to 'make fun' of them

that’s when you lost. I’m right, you’re wrong, it’s fine.
You are right at being wrong.

There’s nothing else to discuss. Just accept defeat.
Kratos taught to never surrender.

I’ll even throw you a bone and let you have the final word you so desperately seek,
Oh...it seems we are doing this to infinity and beyond 😘

but I’m not replying to this subject anymore.
So I take the Win fair and square. Now my ego has leveled up.

I’m feeling really good with my W.
It is what it is.
Wherever makes you feel good.

Jim Ryan clearly doesn't value E3 that much and isn't about that. He does his one big event a year (the Showcase) and that's it. Some State of Plays are good but most are pretty disappointing.

I suspect this new strategy from Sony might actually be better for them as they minimize the risk while still getting pretty much the same visibility or even more for their games.

The irony is that so far Jim Ryan has more than delivered in terms of content despite everything yet Sony became somewhat even worse as far as communicating with the core audience, even the State of Play themselves aren't used to their full extent, plenty of them are really low effort.

But what's the risk? There's very little risk when you have actual bangers. What's saving Sony are the devs, Playstation's amazing cooperation across many teams, and the architect of the PS4 and PS5.....Mark "Big Daddy" Cerny. Mark is constantly helping 1st party teams get the most out of the PS consoles.

Apparently, PS5 architect Mark Cerny will be working alongside the team to help them extract as much from the console as possible. “Our ambition will be to push the technical capabilities of the console further,” Raymond said. No doubt Bungie will also be parachuted in to help with the live service aspects as well.

Jim Ryan is living off the backs of greats. But he hasn't done ANYTHING great yet. To me whatever the new PS+ becomes is all 100% on him. Either good or bad. If Jim wants to impress me, he needs to make PS+ compete with GamePass in a real way and make PSVR2 3x better than PSVR when it comes to sell rate. Otherwise, WTH is he doing?

Careful what you wish for. Only thing missing is day 1. Not sure if you want PS to double down as their sole business model in that regards.

I don’t agree. PS+ Extra/Premium is awesome, I’d say it’s on par with Gamepass besides the day 1 releases, I’ve been playing constantly on the PS5 since it launched and before that it was honestly collecting dust. There is always something to play.
And Jim bought Insomniac, my fav Sony dev right now, extremely successful with game sales and pump out games like nobody else.
I’m a fan of the PC strategy as well, Nixxes are porting gods so hopefully we’ll see their stuff soon, I think it’ll pay off big time, they just need to move the PC releases closer to the console release so it’s not just old games.

The risk is to "lose E3", to have a bad showing, to compete with other companies for the spotlight. State of Plays are a very controlled environment to them, they can happen at any time and has worked great so far in terms of sales.

He doesn't need to impress you with PS+ or offer more "value" than Gamepass, Sony was already at nearly 50m subscribers he just need to convince enough people to upgrade if anything. I don't even like subscriptions that much an I ended up upgrading to PS+ Deluxe (despite not even liking what they did as far as emulation, but there was enough value there for me so I upgraded).

Sony is not even competing with MS at this point, they can't even keep up with the demand for the PS5. What does hype get Sony now? Why should they focus everything on value when they are doing fine with premium offerings?

We can complain all we want but look at their big releases this year: Horizon Forbidden West, GT7, TLoU Part I and God of War Ragnarok. They are also expanding into PC. Which other publisher is competing with that?

20m copies not sold on Steam? Who had such unrealistic expectations?

Every game is going to appeal to only a small fraction of the potential public on PC, I really don't get your point.

Was Elden Ring more of the same? Was Miles Morales more of the same? Was RE8 more of the same? What isn't more of the same?

It feels so odd for me to say, but yeah I 100% do NOT want day 1 games on PS+. Not unless they are online multiplier type games. Those need to be on their day 1 imo.

PS+ Extra is great. I just wish they can keep up the momentum. I hoping they didn't just want it to launch great and then allow it to be trash later in the year. But how close do you want the PC versions to be coming out to the PS5 versions?

Losing E3 never REALLY matters if what you showed was decent. If Sony had a C+ showing but MS and Nintendo had A+ showings then it's not the end of the world. But keep talking like the bolded and you'll see Sony get eaten for lunch. The last thing Jim should want to do is take his consumers for granted. How about continued greatness?

This new found secrecy where everything is a secret SUCKS. Its the R* approach, which has always sucked.

Video games are the only industry where everything is a secret, and release dates are some kind of unicorn.

Why can Marvel announce release dates for films years in advance? This was released in like 2019

ix59247c3h461.jpg

But we have to beg and moan for a release date with no update from anyone for over a year? Just a bunch of false rumors and "insiders" spewing nonsense. Its retarded.
Some of those aren't accurate, Ms Marvel wasn't late 2021, it was June 2022 (only 4 episodes so far) and Doctor Strange was May. There's others that aren't accurate too.

See Cory "GETS" it. He seems to be the only consumer-facing person at Sony that seems to care about the damn game's hype. Just posting this tweet is starting to get me a little hyped!

I wouldn’t doubt the idea that Sony is holding this back to wait until they get more consoles out. This might also be the real reason they pushed this out of 2021.

Day 1 for sure, then I can choose where to play the game based on what setup I think suits it best rather than how low fps I can handle or how long I can wait.

But 6 months would be okay too. I can wait that long if I really want to play on PC.

2-3 years is bullshit. I just end up double dipping and playing a version that piss me off at launch and then an old game where I have to start over years later because saves aren’t transferred and then never finish.

There is no greatness in services, there is greatness in games and they still do that right. They'll just abuse their market position as long as they can, it's always like that for any company. MS focus on value and PR wins is how they can compete right now, Sony doesn't care about it right now because they don't need it, they cared about it in 2013 and in the first half of last gen, once hype becomes a necessity again you'll see them focusing on that, same goes for Nintendo.

Expectations to reveal the game and release date is on fans.

SSM never promised anything.
Bullshit. They game is supposedly coming this year.. yet we're at fault? They're the same people who originally said it was coming in 2021. And now it looks like it is coming TWO years later.
Manchildren apparently do. I don't understand how "grown" men are crying over a video game release date and acting like there is nothing else to play lol.
Because there isn't anything else to play. This has been such a poor year for games outside of elden ring.

Have you finished everything?
I literally have too much to play. Right now I’m going through the PS+ library, playing Miles Morales, got stomped bad by Returnal but enjoyed it a lot until it happened, want to try Death Stranding too now that I got it for free with Premium, needs to continue playing Horizon FW which I stopped play when Elden Ring came out, and GT7, still haven’t finished FF7RI either, Kena is unfinished as well, and Ghost of Tsushima. And that’s just PS5. I have XSX, Switch and PC too. And Steam Summer Sale is going on right now.

You are joking yes ? Elden Ring, Horizon Forbideen West, Dying Light 2, Sifu, Shadow Warrior 3, Destiny 2 expansion, Grid Legends, Gran Turismo 7, Tiny Tina Wonderlands, Kirby and to be released Call of Duty MW 2, High on Life, Grounded, Warhammer 40k darktide, Forspoken, Saints Row, Callisto Protocol, Xenobalde Chronicles 3, World of Warcraft Dragonflight, Sea of Thieves Updates and more.

For fucks sake man. People are too fucking lazy and don't know how to spend their time properly or live under a rock or just idolize 1 fucking game and 1 game only. Get a fucking grip and stop living in a bubble nd go do something productive with your life. KEKW. I rest my case.

It will inevitably be day one, it's just a matter of how long it will take to get there.

They announced TLoU Part I while already mentioning a PC version, they are getting more and more comfortable with it.

Does Sony really want to convince someone that has a capable PC to buy a console just to play some of their games or are they fine with the console going to someone else and that person still buying their games on PC? It will probably be on a game to game basis for sometime still but there ain't no going back.

So comfortable they're using a 10 year old game to still not do day one. I'm thinking it's gonna be a good while before we see pc releases day and date considering they won't even do it for their own services.

We came all the way from PlayStation games not ever making it to PC to a new $70 game made by ND being announced for PC day one, all that in a period of about two years (Death Stranding was released on PC in July 2020).

It's really easy to predict where things are going, time to move on.

Another things that people don't realize is that going back and porting games like God of War, Uncharted and Spider-Man shows even more commitment than simply porting future games that we'll already be developed with PC mind. Sony is going all in on PC they even have a line of PC gaming monitors and headsets now.

This PC release stuff is kinda old though. I'm talking 2015 old. I also see things ramping up, but they are gonna take their sweet time considering double dips.
