Its quite obvious that modern media is different from when we were younger. Just as it was different for our parents. I think some of the differences prevalent today are worthy of criticism. The problem is that the show/movie is either "woke propaganda" or it's awesome and I'm an asshole for not liking it. Where's the middle ground discussion? That's what I'd like to see more of around here.

Not really sure what you're trying to say? People's money and time are important, reviews from people they trust be it for games, movies or TV shows can potentially save them some of both and serve a very real purpose. I'm not going to buy a game, play it for 30 hours and when it sucks be like "Well this game really sucks, but man I'm sure glad I was able to think for myself on this one."

I know it might not seem mature to post some kind of lashing out towards this place but I can't say I don't understand.
tommib has already shown multiple pleas to peace out on this forum and has also shown tolerance multiple times. I think tommib just wants to be reciprocated in turn.
I definitely am doing so more actively since some of our lgbt+ members have been feeling a bit more uncomfortable with some of these threads progress. This thread especially highlighted it as well as some posts Zeroing put out that I read. Something about tommib taking a break from gaf months before this because it's getting a lot more uncomfortable.
This lashing out is just a means for people to take notice of what's unconciously happening within the forum and I hope that the members notice and be more understanding.
I know I may have posted stuff that may be looked at as bad when viewed in their lens that I may not have seen as such. Only when people put focus on such topics like these that I look back and introspect and possibly change myself for the better. Some people like me just needs a little jolt to do so.

Plus, people might want to delete their data for fear of a future data breach happening and having their emails and passwords exposed (some people do reuse passwords for other accounts)

Report them. We have received zero reports on any of the claimed “homophobic”, “bigotted”, or “alt right” posts here. If you see such report them, explain in detail why they are issues and then place the user on block/ignore.

I think that's a personal problem I have. I haven't reported a single post on any forum ever. I always thought it was a moderator's job to do so. I was also mostly on gaming side before a year or so and it's mostly console wars. I don't even remember if Gaf had a report button before the site upgrade.
I'll try to be more proactive from now on.
Sadly we can’t see everything in all threads. It helps a lot when members see something that we miss and would like it questioned or noted of breaking rules. There are thousands of gaffers, but only a few mods

Dismissing valid criticism as mere "basement dwelling" is just as lacking in nuance as the (anti)-woke warrior rhetoric. These videos wouldn't be popular if the criticism presented within wouldn't resonate with a critical mass of people.
Quite frankly, I'll take a Critical Drinker over any of shill youtube channels that RLM likes to parody so perfectly. At the very least, they didn't forget that critics are there to criticize, not to advertise the next mass entertainment product.

I don't think the problem is being anti-woke. I think it's that the phrase woke has essentially lost all meaning due to over and misuse. I don't pay attention to the mainstream whether it be tv, movies, music. I'm essentially as far removed from those things as possible and I am personally tired of seeing the word woke used to describe everything. There are now several dictionary entries for "woke" (in multiple languages), it's really not that hard to grasp its meaning. Some people always go overboard, but that doesn't automatically dismiss the whole issue.
This forum has started fence sitting so damn hard that it has become afraid of its own shadow.

How has the forum been “fence sitting”? I see blatant posts that are designed to create outrage, not spur actual discussion, get closed. I see people just outright dismissing/promoting “Woke/anti-woke” with zero discussion value being deleted/publicly warned (i.e. making drive by posts of “ITS WOKE TRASH” and not actually explaining how/why it is written with a slacktivist-bent to it).
Ultimately the term has generally lost all meaning and bad actors have ruined the term. Similar to how NPC became.

Overusing words leads to their loss of meaning and complete loss of usage:
The forum is a place for discussion. If people can't articulate beyond woke = bad, then it's not really a discussion. If you can support your ideas, as long as they do not break TOS, I don't see how allowing that discussion to occur is fence sitting. If you can't handle nuance in thought, then maybe Reddit is the better place for you.

Words like homophobia, racist, Nazi, misogynist have much more longevity than transphobe and incel. I would argue that first batch is less likely to lose meaning given the history of the words and the context in which they were born. For the others, time will tell. I do not see incel much and transphobia I would agree is on the path to becoming meaningless in many contexts.
