Star Wars Jedi: Survivor |OT| - Judge me by my file size, do you?

Just finished the game, really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if it's quite as good as the first, which pulled off a tighter, more traditional Metroidvania feel, but it's definitely a lot more ambitious, and boy does it look good. Greatly improved combat, too. That Darth Vader fight was incredible, if a little easy compared to some of the other fights.

I still wish there was more Coruscant, though.

I finally beat the force tear with 3 legendary beasts. I had more trouble on that one than any other. It only happened because the mogu glitched itself off the map. That happened one previous attempt and also to myself once. Fortunately the game doesn't just restore the last position of the mogu.

Just finished the game and enjoyed it. Though I think it starts strong and loses it a little by the end. I started a new game plus and the opening cut scene and opening level look amazing but the last planet is so empty and drab. It's like they ran out of time and money lol

I've been putting the time in to get the Plat. 98% done on Koboh. I'm so tired dawg.

Also be sure to get the ally helps you 10 times in battle before the end of the game otherwise you're gonna have to NG+ like me. 🐻

Wow that setpiece at the end of the Jeddah level. Holy shit. That felt more next gen than the horizon burning shores boss fight.
how can they do it? the game is a technical junk. yet these sequences ran smooth as heck even on my crap machine. I was quite shocked. must be some magical code wizardry there... :messenger_smiling_hearts: a defining memorable moment. this game has some great production value indeed.

Similar experience on PS5, I’m starting to think that the performance issues on console are being cause by the game running out of memory to use.

On Jedha, Merrin comes to help right outside the base. I still have that one to complete as well. Then some like force slow kill, I almost never used slow the entire game. Parrying a force pull, doing a couple other dodge things, that I never used. I'm trying to find all the story points for that final boss, after the win. Still only like 50% complete on that, and somehow I missed 1 scan of an enemy and I can't figure out what, so that's not 100%.

Who designed this guy and please explain how he puts on or takes off his belt. Does he ever take it off. How does he access the items within said belt?

Finished the game, as a non star wars fan the game's alright, nothing to write home about. but I enjoyed it more than the first game. Still has some missed opportunities such as light saber customization has no influence on stats only cosmetics, lack of interesting skills and combat is still just serviceable to me, played Sekiro recently and this just feels lackluster compared to it. But as an adventure game it's really not bad.

Agreed, but again, it doesn't make sense for what we saw in both games. Not being a Jedi anymore =/= Sith
I looked into this a bit further. The kyber crystal is infused with the force and it’s treated like it’s somehow alive (made up of organic and in organic materials). It’s clear until it senses the force and chooses its user. Young Jedi were sent out to obtain their own crystal, which means they had to have used the force. It can tell when the person changes, so it kinda makes sense if the person hates the Jedi or chooses another path. The kyber bleeds because it doesn’t want to change. It was in the last decade where they’ve even discussed it. Darth Vader is a person who has corrupted a kyber crystal. Kylo Ren also bled his crystal. If you picked a path that didn’t agree with the force then your crystal is reacting in a way that it is hurt (hence the bleeding terminology). Darth Vader had a much richer red hue to his. He corrupted his crystal on purpose. I imagine a person could live without corrupting theirs, but we all see are people who have beef with the Jedi so of course their sabers turned red.

My understanding is that this is a deliberate act though, like seen in the game, not something that happens randomly over time.
The bad guy in this game may have rejected the Jedi order, but he is no Sith, so why would he bleed his crystal purposely if this is a sith ritual.

This is from a canon book about Star Wars. There could be multiple ways of looking at it. He could have had a red blade because he joined the Empire and the crystal sensed the dark side and went red. The dark red hue or that unstable look that Kylo has is from bleeding it, literally cracking it. Darth Vader has a rich bright red tone to his and he probably did a better job at corrupting the crystal than Kylo.

It could be that he had anger over his dead wife, which is why he sought strength in something else. Over time that could have changed the color? There’s a theory about Anakin when he slaughtered the kids at the Jedi temple. His blade wasn’t red. It wasn’t red during his fight with Ben Kenobi either.

You’ve got a good point. I wonder if the crystal has to be meditated upon to change or you have to spend time with it before it adjusts itself to your life. Some characters have a purple hue to theirs based upon their decision to be good, bad, and balance between the two.

There’s a lot to it. There’s something about synthetic kyber crystals, which is what they think Luke made to get his green saber in RotJ.

In the canon starwars comics, vader was stripped of his own jedi lightsaber by palpatine, had to go to another planet, kill a Jedi Master, but without a lightsaber, steal the Jedi‘s lightsaber and bleed its crystal in a ritual and take the new red lightsaber as his. This is explained as a ritual to strengthen the connection to the dark side

wow. Now I understand it a lot more. In Survivor, he must have done the ritual at some point. I have a bunch of questions about the old republic and EU stuff because this knowledge would have had to have been passed down by the Sith. That ritual is the only way to make it red. There’s some crazy theories and EU is different from the canon. I’ll take a big L on my theories. LOL

Just finished it last night, playtime was around 43hrs but didn't 100% the game. I love this game, its in my personal GOTY list. It did what Ragnarok did for GoW 2018 for me. Its a sequel that expands on a lot from the original. I thought the story was interesting to follow through until the end, the combat is expanded in fun and meaningful ways, the exploration was obviously bumped up significantly and though I've seen comments that cosmetic rewards get tiresome after a while, I felt it motivated me just enough to go seek out the majority of them. I also appreciated the customization options, it made me more invested in Cal and his tools. The attention to detail they put into the lightsaber customization was amazing, even though most of the time you really can't see it. I like the traversal options but felt they could've introduced these options much earlier in the game, plus the traversal challenges this time around felt really fun to do.

That said, Dagan not being the last boss was both a shocker and a slight disappointment. I understand Bode's plight as a parent, but the game didn't sell me how he became kinda evil at the end. I guess because the game showed us a lot of how Dagan is motivated to do what he did, but Bode just came out of nowhere really. Some very brief exposition and that was it. Collecting color schemes and materials for customization feels unrewarding, feels like more busy work collecting them. The bounty system and legendary enemies are fun to experience, but I wished that these enemies were more unique. Bounty hunters have more or less the same template with different names. Cere's fight with Vader, edges a bit on the unbelievable side. Cere nearly defeats Vader, with Vader seemingly pretty affected by the fight at the end of it. Cere doesn't come off as a particularly powerful Jedi in the first place, I may be wrong though.

All in all, I'm excited to see Cal Kestis and crew's place in the overall Star Wars mainline universe. I think their story is compelling and would like to see more of it, outside of the game even. Technical issues aside, I really hope Respawn keeps up their amazing work with this series and gives it the conclusion it deserves.

I still haven't finished the main story. Lately I have been doing mostly exploration and finding secrets and solving puzzles.
The reason is that I lost most interest in the story. It wasn't amazing to start, but it got more generic and boring as the game progressed.
I was already expecting Bode to betray us, since Coruscant. It was very obvious he was being set up for that.
The whole Dagan plot was very boring, mostly because he was very boring and unidimensional as a character. An having to fight him again and again, made it even worse.
The fight between Ceres and Vader was complete BS. In the first game she can barely run away from him. Now she can almost match him, because she has the power of friendship.
I saw several reviewers say the story becomes very good at the half way point. But I would say it's exactly the opposite. It get's kinda shit.

A good story is so exceedingly rare in games today which is such a shams because it would elevate these types of games so much.

Lol i love how this random hidden area turns into a massive dungeon with multiple boss fights and new puzzle mechanics. this game is crazy.

Ran into a legendary beast bear thing. he had a friend with him. After being raped by the two, I turned his friend against him and he actually did some damage. So went back and upgraded my confusion skill tree and his much weaker friend almost took him out on his own lol.

Beat the game this morning. I really, really enjoyed it. Definitely a bit more than Fallen Order with all of the new things they added, emphasis on exploring, etc. I'm still thinking about going back and finding all the crates, but we'll see.

I agree that all the performance stuff was/is a shame, and there's no excuse for it. But I'm hoping it all gets patched soon for those still experiencing issues.

Assuming there's a third game (and I'm sure there will be), I really can't wait to see what will become of it. Because if each game continues to get better, and better then the third game will potentially be the strongest. I really, truly hope it lands in every way.

I like the game but its not near as good as the first one.

Trilla was a far better foe.

This game is 75% jump/travel puzzles. Add the open world aspect and all it's stuff and it's kind of... slow.

And again, the story jut isn't as thrilling. This needed a villain like Trilla and we don't have that.

I've been playing this on the PS5. Am I the only one that thinks this game's animation is janky? It's not stuttery but I just feel like some of the animations are smooth yet not smooth. The audio is on point though.

PS5 version also......i don't know if it's janky, but Cal's movement in general to me feels off and disconnected. Maybe it's the framerate thats not stable that is causing it.

Man I’m loving this game. I kinda knew the plot coming from a mile away minus the Bode being a Jedi part

I just got past the intro zone on jedha but since the sandstorm my game keeps crashing to desktop every 5 to 10 min. Anyone with a similar problem ? (PC, RTX 4080, 10700KF, 32Gb RAM).

It was working perfectly fine before (stuttering aside).

Animations being janky is a well known aspect of this brand.

Another interesting tidbit that many people don't know is
the reason Ahsoka's lightsabers are now white is because she "healed" a bled kyber crystal. It's in the canon Ahsoka novel that came out a couple years ago.

Looks like they are finally fixing the PC CPU usage.

Here are the fixes you can expect with this patch:

  • (PC only) Updated occlusion behavior for raytracing, reducing idle time stalls.
  • (PC only) Updated streaming budgets that will help alleviate traversal hitching.
  • (PC only) Performance improvements for some VFX.
    • Coming soon to console
  • (PC only) Updated data handling when toggling raytracing, improving non-raytraced performance.
Other stuff in the pipeline as well.

  • (PC only) Improving performance on newer i7 and i9 CPUs that have efficiency cores.
  • (PC only) General performance improvements to improve both CPU and GPU utilization while reducing idle time, both with and without raytracing.
  • (PC only) Improving some hitching which can be attributed to streaming raytracing data, assets, and a gap in our prebuilt shaders.
