Matt Booty: "We are in a unique position to spend Sony out of business"

I guess i can but y all so quick to start threads about xbox emails that one would expect this to be the same for every email coming out of either company. We both know the reason why.
If there was one email that need a seperate thread it was the lying ryan email.

lol.....you really should look a bit more into the posters who are starting these threads and drop the "y'all" bullshit. We are not talking about Sony fanboys, but of course you need to make it about that so you and others can continue your Xbox persecution tantrums.

Where's our MILF Lulu? Do we have her opinion on this? She's been rather quiet, no?

As have the Microsoft execs threatening to pull out of the UK market.

Lots of eggs and lots of faces.

So is anyone clutching their pearls over this under the impression that it's not Sony's intentions to do the same when they buy up exclusives?

Microsoft lost a lot of sympathy. The consequences will be hard.
Consequences will never be the same.

BUT SPIDERMAN!!!!!
Ah I forgot that classic, we were gift-wrapped the same opportunity and did fuck all but hate that the other team made gold out of the same discarded materials.

Xbox fans blaming Sony for Xbox rejecting Spider-Man 🙄

I should really include webhead in my Psygnosis mentions. Hopefully Jim will revive the studio and call the Spider-Man development team Psygnosis

Can you tell me how buying exclusives games is the same as buying whole publishers?
Both remove content from the other. One is dirt cheap if you have 80% marketshare. The other makes financial sense when you have 20% marketshare. This whole thing laughable. Microsoft has lost many more games from major studios in the last 7 years than Sony. People are flipping out because Sony is losing major studio games for the first time in near a decade. They expect everything from major studios but the other side can wait years if it ever comes and that's fine.

Didn't Yakuza and Persona show it was more a developer risk than Sony for stopping the games on Xbox. Not every game missed on Xbox is because of Sony. Even with the likes of FFVII Remake, exclusivity is gone and where is the Xbox version?

Everyone knew that was the end game. If it was about content for gamepass or exclusives for their xbox owners, they wouldve bought a lot more of those cheaper studios like Crystal Dynamics, Respawn, Insomniac etc. $300 million max.

It was always about eliminating competition so they could have a monopoly.
I remember some people were like, "No, no Phil is one of us! Xbox is pro-consumer."

Yes I'd be happy to.. they were trying to make Starfield exclusive to PS5, this would have destroyed Xbox almost entirely...
you think they were not going to attempt the same move with ES6? Would the same people making a petition against it being Xbox exclusive now do the same if it were PS5 exclusive?

Sony has been buying up all kinds of popular properties over the years and Microsoft just went bigger, that is the only difference is the size and scope of what they are doing.

Such as?

Well yeah MS have "fuck you" money but it's what you do with it. The only company that could outspend Microsoft is Apple (if they take gaming more seriously).

This is obvious and doesn't really need to be said. MS went ahead to purchase Activision/Blizzard for $70 billion or whatever it was. Could you imagine Sony or Nintendo being able to spend that kind of money?

If Microsoft get their shit together then nobody will stand a chance against them.

Bungie with Destiny, They snatched up Naughty Dog and Crash Bandicoot early on, Spider-man used to be a figure across every platform now he's Sony Exclusive which is about as big as a franchise can be, They purchased a huge stake into Square Enix and what platform is Final Fantasy XVI not available on?

How did Sony get the exclusive right to Spider-man? Matt Booty was suggesting they outspend Sony to get exclusives.. this does not mean buy up every studio.. it means secure more games.
Why is that nefarious as opposed to what Sony does?

I'm the one saying it's not

The answer is:

Disney wanted a platform holder to make exclusive Marvel games so they can get the high budget they need. Activision's Spider-Man games were failures. Disney approached Microsoft and offered them to make exclusive Marvel games. Phil Spencer, in his infinite wisdom, declined that offer. Disney then reached out to Sony. Sony accepted and hooked them up with Insomniac.

Xbox is the reason why Spider-Man games are not on Xbox. Take it up with them.

Losing sleep at the thought of MS monopolising gaming as a result of this deal?

No offence to you, but you seem to have less idea than even I do and be on cheaper drugs.
Well, at least thanks for answering my question. Guess this makes sense now.

Oh... btw, the phrase `losing sleep`... is an idiom. I felt compelled to have to point that out all considering.

I suppose I’m saying, the resultant monopoly is proving very difficult to prove despite the concern of many in this thread. The numbers just aren’t there …
The numbers are there for multigame subscriptions and cloud and that's what the CMA have decided to concentrate on. Whether the CMA and FTC are ultimately successful or not people can see what MS are trying to pull.

If regulators cannot stop MS from buying the biggest publisher with the biggest IPs they would have no chance with any other subsequent publishers on MS' list. They can buy up all the publishers to rule over that moat castle.

Activision was actively seeking a buyer, Microsoft stepped up..
see how that works?

Sony pays large sums of cash to secure exclusives, they paid up for Spider-man.
And yet Microsoft can still make a spiderman game because Sony doesn't own the game rights. Microsoft aren't locked out of games from square enix games because Sony doesn't own them. That's the difference

ND outside Rings of Power and Way of the Warrior has pretty much always been with Sony. Sony only acquired them after years of supporting them, funding them, and sharing their tech with them. Sony built ND completely into what it is. We know factually that Marvel contacted MS in regards to them acquiring Marvel IPS and looking at the time frame that occurred one can surmise that Spiderman was one of those offered properties. MS being classic MS fucked that up. We also know SE approached MS about FF16 but Sony made a better offer. Another classic MS bumble fuck. As to Bungie, knowing what we know now, I'm willing to bet good money Bungie ran to Sony in order to escape MS'S grasp.

Activision were seeking a buyer because we finally had that cunt Bobby Kotick caught for condoning a culture of sexual assaults and harassment. The selling was a way to get Bobby to remain in place and leave on better grounds or, as it seems, give him enough time for the heat to die down.

As it stands that prick will remain in his role no matter what, rather than told to fuck off.
