Unless I forget to turn off auto renew I'll probably re-up.

The state of the console space has me thinking that I just need to go to PC and call it a day. This alone isn't enough for me to do that, but if it requires a constant subscription to be able to fully use my consoles I'm not sure I want to continue to play there.

I think I'm done personally, but I'm also game sharing with my brother and he uses PS+ Extra much more than I do for both online MP and the stuff that's in game catalagoue, so I guess we'll see lmao. But from my point of view I really don't need their shitty sub anymore since 1) I barely play anything online anymore and 2) I have 95% of the titles i'm interested from that PS+ game catalogue either digitally or physically.

Just signed up today at the sale price for another year. They have that time to show me with some good shit and a solid sales price why I should bother renewing in 2024. *shrug* I just don't know.

Yes, it's pennies a day.

And to those saying I'm out!

Well, a lot of people on Gaf have a PS5, Xbox and high end PC so they have options. That’s not the case for the average gamer so in general a $20 hike won’t have a large effect on sub numbers. I can certainly see people dropping Extra/Premium for Essential though.

You can wait 6 months and can buy 4 5 new games at this price which you actually own. Only a stupid will buy this subscription.

I'm thinking of letting my subscription expire and not bothering with a renewal. I have done the same thing with Gamepass after their price hike and both services are over priced now imo.

I had extra and I will keep it. Price increases suck but an extra few quid a week ain't going to break the bank. Fuck, I pay for Netflix and they're terrible. At least I get value for money out of my ps subscription as I don't really buy games day one.

I’m out, with the remaining time on my sub I’m gonna buy the PS+ “free” games I want to keep and then only subscribe to PS+ when I care to jump back into Destiny 2. I’ve been subscribed since nearly the beginning when it was just cloud storage and PS minis.

There’s getting fucked and then there’s getting fucked so hard that you prolapse, I’m keeping my bootyhole tight. ✌️

Of course they do this after my PlayStation CC got compromised (multiple times) so I shut it down since I could no longer trust the bank. Those points paid for my PS+ and then some.

No way on Premium. Annual black Friday deal for Extra will probably be the only way I continue to sub. Same goes for Game Pass. I think I am about done with this sub experiment from all companies. I will play multiplayer on PC and purchase the games I want to play.

Oh I’ll be going to essential just so I can carry on playing VR stuff online. Not paying for the extra shit as I barely use it.

Fuck Sony for bumping up these prices so considerably though. Happy playing online everything else on PC anyway.

Thanks OP for this thread. I had no idea there was a price increase coming and my sub is up at the end of September.
I went right the fuck in and canceled (Extra). 35% increase?!?!?!!?

Been on Essential for a year now, the other tiers just don't make sense for me.

Does it suck? Yea it does, but in the grand scheme of things... it's $20 a year. If I'm being honest, I get more use out of PSN then I do any of my other services, all of which are more expensive than this.

My time on PS5 has been slowly increasing over the past couple of months despite having a 4090 13900K gaming rig. Am currently subscribed to essential. Will definitely not renew. Consoles sometimes seem like a total joke compared to an open platform.

I have long abandon PS+ as I don't see the value of it. I have tons of online fun playing Fallout 76 without even need to pay a single dime for online services, yet I can still play with other players.

Is there a way to stock up in some way like you can do with Xbox Gold on GamePass? Or you just have to pony up full MSRP and there's no other way?

I'll be keeping my eye out on deals. That's all you can really do these days as they keep bumping prices. Everyone is doing it so I'm going to be saying bye to a lot of subscriptions in the next few months.

In Canada its $70 for essential and will probably go up to $90. Factor taxes and you are at $101-102. For online access, cloud saves and a surprise box of games?

Nah- i’ll main my PC for online now.

An increase is fine..but not by this much.

I hope this backlash makes them reconsider this shit.

I have Premium until 2025 from when you could convert from PS Now back in the day. But at these prices I'm not renewing lol. At least definitely Premium is not worth it, haven't played a single cloud game or classic. If I'm interested in a specific classic, I'll just buy it.

With yearly, 11 a month for Extra could still be worth it if they will invest in the service, but it will not be a no brainer anymore. I will carefully decide or maybe will let sub expire and wait for discounts.

Luckily I have quite a few years stacked so I'll be OK but I won't renew afterwards unless they do something drastic like day 1 first party games.

I just re-upped for $60 and now i'm covered thru 2024. I'll prioritize backlog games I got through PS Plus in the meantime.

I have baby #2 on the way with less and less time as it is to dedicate to gaming. I anticipate this will be the last time I renew

I only have a subscription to Plus because I was able to get 12 months of Premium for $60. I was never intending to renew, but I definitely will not now.

I will be buying a 3-month subscription for Game Pass Ultimate, via CDKeys, for Starfield though.

There always used to be sales online for PlayStation plus digital codes. Newegg and other retailers would regularly have them like 30-50% off. I went online today and check and retailers don’t seem to have them now. Do retailers not sell digital PS membership codes anymore?

Yes. It too great a value to me, even at the new price. Specially the extra tier.

Thanks to it I have played games I otherwise wouldn't have bought, and I'm just playing more games overall. It also gave me a massive backlog of games I want to play, and thanks to extra, the only thing standing between me and those games is time.

I still have like 2 years of my sub left, I think. Due to the price increase, I might just stack up another year.

I just brought a 12 month subscription for £44 before the price increases, It was with an extremely heavy heart. The only reason I bought it was because my nephew shares an account with me and he plays online, I don't even play online. I don't think I could stomach giving these a**holes £55-£60 just for online play.

Paying for online is such a scam. Players should massively stop buying in protest but I know that ship has sailed.

I have half a year left, might stack a year or 2 at the current price but no, definitely not renewing with that increase.

Sure.

The price increase sucks, but so does having to pay extra for digital tv and phone because it comes with the internet bundle and I can't ditch those.

Life's a bitch.
