The nerds who care enough to cultivate maps in some quasi-private section of Bnet are all bad at Halo. Open that bitch up and improve the experience for everybody.
I can't speak for everyone in CC or in any other Forge-related groups, but I think the idea was to gather community leaders (of some sort) to help bring together talented individuals who are best suited to build, test, and provide valuable feedback for maps that are created by the community their involved in. I have often invited members from many different communities (including this one) who have no affiliation with any community I'm a part of at b.net or elsewhere to help out any way they can in many different ways.

I always value opinions from everyone and try my best to do what I can to incorporate their feedback with what we do at CC and the other communities I'm involved with. I don't think I personally have the talents to build matchmaking quality maps nor do I think I personally am the best judge of those who can... but I think I do ok at bringing those individuals together in one place to help spotlight the best our communities have to offer for Bungie/343's community map integration process.

(My private group is open to everyone as well.. the doors are "closed" but everyone from all communities are always accepted and welcomed.)

Can all interested (Ken?) draw for me their interpretation of what the Prisoner looks like, based on the descriptions given in Cryptum? I'd love to see some.

Yea I like Vanilla Reach and TU Reach being seperate. That way we can choose at least for awhiiiiile longer.

I mean they dedicated an entire game's balance around Bloom and the default speed and damage and beatdown and feedback systems all around Reach. Yes some people might not find that "fun" but I do.

I also enjoy the TU settings now and then but the fact the melee is so weak that THREE beatdowns to kill yet THREE pistol shots to kill...and a Pistol is stronger than a DMR. Its fucking ludicrous but at the same time its kinda fun. Then someone grabs overshield and they get too long of an invisibilty period where I snipe them TWICE and beat them down TWICE and they don't die, its fucking bullshit and makes no sense.

Both modes need improvements I guess.

In the end they should Hire this guy.

love vanilla too... I really hope they take all the awesome stuff from Reach and include it in 4
PLEASE FRANKIE INCLUDE SPRINT :D

DavidEllis is asked "Will there be Halo on circuit next year?". Responds "We are working with MLG now and will continue in the future".

lolwhut, why would someone ask him that?

It's not readily apparent which people from which organisation made certain decisions. It's harmless and happens quite often.

Dammit no!! Halo needs to be fast all the time and give you the ability to shoot and look around all the time.

I like what sprint did for map opening up different routes because you could make jumps you normally couldn't. Going back to no sprint from sprint in MLG has certainly been adjustment for me because of that reason.

NS MLG is the best Reach has ever felt, so good.

As in built with Forge glitches like unlimited money or object melding.

Assigned tasks? So far the Bungie nerds who cultivate maps have produced bomb after bomb. Create a website for maps that has an open voting system that is sorted into different categories ie Competitive, Fun, etc, etc. Hell, make it a Reddit ripoff and have people upvote interesting maps. When a decent chunk have been picked by the community, have one person who knows what the hell he's doing (LilBlain) playtest the ones that rise to the top

I was actually writing a map tracking system where people could submit maps, then Cartographers could give prospective authors a special token they could use to update their map's entry as it approached submittable status without having to use logins. They could then attach test films to that map's entry, and it also let you attach bugs.

I backburnered it because 1) paying job came along and 2) I couldn't figure out how make it an useful tool while also reinforcing that it wasn't official or guaranteed matchmaking entry, since to make it work I'd have to give Bungie/343 employees accounts on it so they could see the top maps in the stack. If I made the votes public people would think top voted = guaranteed to show up in matchmaking soon, when we have no idea if any map will actually make it in, since we find out the same time everyone else does.

Also 3) since I'm lazy I would have re-used my site's forum system for the accounts, so people would probably perceive it as me promoting my site by hosting it there.

Maybe if I can figure out a way for it to be useful without causing drama or too much noise:signal ratio I'll re-attempt it in january or february. Hopefully 343 will still be running the CC by then and not lost in the Halo 4 ocean.

They tried the 100% open process with ATLAS, and it just turned into way too much noise and submitting a map in thousands of pages meant you were just going to be straight up missed. A private forum lets them have way more signal while not being smothered by thousands of submissions, and lets people be more open about feedback on maps. Maybe they can figure out something in between.

Also, Burger King's new fries are bland pieces of shit.

Okay, those first two are pretty awesome lol.

Remove evade.

I'm surprised at people complaining about the spawns in Prisoner - I always kind of thought the whole point, and part of the charm of the level was - SPAWN, OH SHIT EVERYONE IS HERE RIGHT ABOVE ME HOW DO I GET OUT OF THIS CORNER!

It speeds up those games to a ludicrous level. Which I like.

I loved Prisoner in H1, and I love it in Reach. Surprised that HaloGAF doesn't seem to like it very much.

Played a bit of StarHawk today and really hope we get a game mode in Halo like how Forge Mode in Halo 3 was originally intended to be. RTS elements in shooter games is awesome :)

I would also like to see people draw the Forerunner capital. That thing's shape was very confusing to visualize.

FORGEHUB MEMBERS, LISTEN UP:
Atlas was born specifically because groups like yours cannot be trusted to provide Matchmaking-worthy maps. This group is clique-agnostic to avoid scenarios where one group and its personal expectations of its members does not poison the possibilities.

It is great to have your own standard. Acting like your standard is more important than other people's, however, will cause drama, and I will not put up with drama. If you cannot be constructive to anyone that doesn't follow your clique's ideals, you don't belong here. If you're more invested in making sure boxes are lined up than you are in making sure your spawns are placed correctly, you don't belong here. If you're going to cry like a child if/when your map isn't accepted, you don't belong here. If you think you or your group is more deserving than other people because of how "hardcore" you imagine yourselves to be, you definitely don't belong here.

Wow. And he was actually defending the map Smashed. Crazy.

I remember joining that group "Atlas" back when Rocket Race was in the early DEXP rotation and posted a really nice Rat's Nest version. It was a great map that cut down the amount of walkers. Hell, we still play it to this day in customs.

I don't think he even once considered it. He just locked it and gave some bullshit reason for doing so.

If I was a playlist manger and was looking for really good Infection maps I would go check out a group of Infection guys who forge maps. Same goes for Invasion, MLG, or RR. Pretty simple. That's what they do.

Guy obv hated his position over at bungie as playlist manager. 343 don't make the same mistake.

I am still very very shocked that we have seen no community infection maps. LOVED playing user made infection maps in Halo 3. Infection on default maps is 100% garbage.

Dear HaloGAF, Dani and I just had the most hilarious game. We were playing a full party on a mexican host, everyone was team killing, people were driving/jumping off the cliff, I was talking shit to our teammates, and we were losing the entire match. We were down by a good 15 kills the entire time. It was a fucking mess, our team was simply getting dominated.

So then there was 30 seconds left, losing 87-80, and this happened.

CC has been collecting Community Infection maps. I would expect that we should see them by March at the latest.

There are no certainties, promises or guarantees when we look for content. It's possible, maybe even likely, that we'll see community Infection variants but not a definite sure thing. =)

Reminded myself tonight while playing as a lone wolf is a joke in this game. My team mates were shit every single time.

Honestly its a problem in online gaming in general. It seems the recent wave of people who have played for a year or less just can not understand how to play a game for some reason. Was playing Battlefield 3 and Gotham City Imposters today and I swear these people do not know what the fuck OBJECTIVE means anymore and it also seems they have no sense of direction or the common sense to check the damn radar.

Online gaming is trash unless you are playing with friends who know what they are doing.
