Desperate Half-Life fans mail crowbars to Valve, write essays on Hitler

The Steamcast guys were reliable before, but this wouldn't be the first time someone goes "ah, fuck it, I'm going to troll everyone pretending I have inside info".

Welp....

Poor Gabe, his company can't even release anything related to any of their games before people go nuts and find signs and hints everywhere mailing him and asking him for confirmation...

Portal 2 was formally announced in Game Informer, but leading up to that was an ARG that heavily teased a new Portal game.

It was pretty clear from Valve when they extended the ending of Portal 1. Maybe they could do something similar for Half-Life 2: Episode Two?

But that ARG had a clear beginning (Portal was updated, and there was a mysterious message in the changelog, practically begging people to investigate).

So far people are seeing supposed hints relating to HL3 in TF2 comics, and Portal 2 videos.. which doesn't make sense.

Right, which is why this nonsense is probably a load of horse.

I'm nit even sure how Half-Life 3 would stand up to modern games. I mean, I loved Half-Life 2 but that was 2004/2005. By the time Episode 2 rolled the mechanic had started to feel archaic, as had the engine.

They would really need to reinvent the gameplay for HL3, so that it feels as fresh as Portal.

There are a lot of cool gameplay elements in HL2 that the industry haven't build upon at all. Sadly.

Half Life 2 was quite a radical departure from Half Life 1, though (whether or not it was a good thing is up to opinion). I think they have the moxie to do it again.

Meh, most modern FPSs have regressed horribly in game design. If anything, Valve should update the core shooting mechanics to feel more like HL1. That would instantly put the game far beyond the tight hallways/aim-down-sights creatively bankrupt bollocks of most modern shooters.

Honestly, Half-Life 2 felt dated when it came out. Perhaps because Half-Life had been such a revolution.

What I suspect, and fear, is that Half-Life 3 will have Portal-type stuff tacked onto a by-the-numbers Valve shooter.

Looks like boomers will be featuring in episode 3 as well then. All Valve games combined into one! (excepting alien swarm and dota 2 I guess)

Maybe they should take the hint and make the damn game already. I'm going to officially not talk to them, ever, until they do. The mass snubbing will force them to satisfy our demands.

Who's with me?

Holy shit, I think we're onto something! Let's spend the next 3 pages analyzing our findings until someone emails Valve and gets a confirmation that there are no hints of HL3 in the Christmas artwork.

lol, what does Laidlaw mean 'Valve aren't behind this'? They are the ones who make those daily Christmas drawings, are they not?

Something's going on.

HL3 outsourced to Backbone confirmed :(
