How about Starcraft 2? I am genuinely asking, does anyone know if people were as obsessive about it as Half Life 3?
In South Korea, yeah. Worldwide too, but SK went bonkers.

The Steamcast guys were reliable before, but this wouldn't be the first time someone goes "ah, fuck it, I'm going to troll everyone pretending I have inside info".
I think Portal 2 was announced via Game Informer long before the ARG. That was just for the early release.
It was pretty clear from Valve when they extended the ending of Portal 1. Maybe they could do something similar for Half-Life 2: Episode Two?
Portal 2 was formally announced in Game Informer, but leading up to that was an ARG that heavily teased a new Portal game.
Right, which is why this nonsense is probably a load of horse.
I'm nit even sure how Half-Life 3 would stand up to modern games. I mean, I loved Half-Life 2 but that was 2004/2005. By the time Episode 2 rolled the mechanic had started to feel archaic, as had the engine.
They would really need to reinvent the gameplay for HL3, so that it feels as fresh as Portal.

If you focus your eyes at the fire, you can clearly see an Advisor.
All I see are hundreds of penises.
lol, what does Laidlaw mean 'Valve aren't behind this'? They are the ones who make those daily Christmas drawings, are they not?
Something's going on.
