Well the guy that sent the email referred to an ARG (that doesn't exist), Gabe giving the green light for dropping hints (which didn't happen) and finally the Christmas drawings (that indeed exist). So 2/3 are not a result of Valve being "behind this".

I just finished HL2 again after 7 years yesterday again and both episodes for the first time today.
Just minus ten seconds.... AND I WANT TO CONTINUE!

I really throw my hat towards everyone with such patience with Valve - for waiting for so long...

...and on.

I would really like to play Ep3 now... That ending...
 
Yeah I played the episodes for the first time just over a year ago so I don't know how people who played them when they came out are coping

Take it for what it is, a grain of salt. Mostly everyone won't believe me or what not, I don't care. I've said what I've said in some sort of effort to help out Saurabh. From someone who's been there and made this mistake, where one is made privy to material, you get over excited and just want to tell everyone. Then it blows up in your face so unexpectedly, and it can hurt.

Well, that fellow's said a great deal of nothing. Who in their right mind would suggest that the allusions are unintentional? The question he didn't even touch, and perhaps is wholly unable to answer, is whether or not said allusions are significant. Probably not.

There has been no directive from Gabe to leak anything. That is all false.

I just want to say this so there is no confusion. This is the community trolling the community nothing more. While it is nice to see people excited about anything HL, I hate seeing people be trolled like this.

Frankly, sometimes things are just as simple as they are displayed. They even make that a message on Portal 2: sometimes the solution is in the most simple method.
 
Frankly, I find it amusing that people believed that a member from an unofficial Steam podcast and a random bloke who self-assumed the position of Valve ARG figurehead had any sources within Valve.

Well, the Steam podcast is our closest source to Valve for us mere mortals.
Unfortunately the "OMG my source told me they are actively planting hints about HL!" tweet turned out to actually mean "I actually don't have any source. I have been told by some guy (leveraged) that he has a source and that this is what's happening"...
