why is everyone acting as if this is it for character reveals?
Because acknowledging that means less to whine about.

I just hope the rest are better than what is essentially a palette swap with a reused moveset. Especially if an original character with a unique moveset somehow doesn't make the cut.
Oh. SoXiba is Kilik and Xianghua's son, but he doesn't know who his parents are and is being raised by his grandfather. Does he know his grandfather is his grandfather?
And what about Leixia? She's Xianghua's daughter with the general she was forced to marry? I suppose she knows who her parents are, right?
They probably will be...hell this was a leak not even a real reveal.
This seems like a story related thing anyway (probably the whole you gotta play story to unlock character(s) thing that popped up a while ago).
I wish they would just get it over with and reveal them already...the game comes out in 2 weeks.
Here's what happened, from what we know:
Kilik and Xianghua were together, then Kilik disappeared/died/whatever the hell happened to him. Xianghua was pregnant with Xiba. Without Kilik, Xianghua gives birth and decides to go back home to daddy. Her grandfather tells her "we arranged a marriange for you, deal with it" and she basically just bends over and takes it. But she begs her father to raise her and Kilik's son, and he agrees on the condition that he never knows who his mother is.
Xianghua marries General Whoeverthefuck and has two more kids (Leixia and one more, can't remember her name). Xiba is raised by Xianghua's dad, with no knowledge of his parents, sisters or his grandfather (who is his master), yet through the magic of video game storytelling shenanigans (aka "fate/destiny") self-teaches himself Kilik's fighting style (which he did not know was his father's fighting style) and mixes it with what he learned from Xianghua's dad.

Well, Pyrrha is confirmed to also get a style swap too due to story. Don't know what style that is going to be though.
Maybe Tira's style? LoL
Li Long's double nunchaku! Would be about as logical as Patroklos using Setsuka's moves, after all.Well, Pyrrha is confirmed to also get a style swap too due to story. Don't know what style that is going to be though.
Oh gosh xDIt'd only work if he screamed his own name at the end of every round.
I'll except him yelling "MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" also.
The current roster rumors that are flying around are driving me mental. If I don't get Bangoo...
Fill us (or rather me) in?
I'm still day -1, but that would be so deflating if it turns out to be true. (But the rumored list doesn't take into account those two blocked off spaces...)
We're supposed to get more news on the 19th right? At least, that's what I've seen stated a few places. I need info now.
Sure, though it's not pretty.
Alpha Pat, Omega Pyrrah, "Inferno" Kilik (mimics male characters), Elysium (Possible Sophitia clone in appearance, mimics female characters).
If this is true, then we've got THREE mimic characters. No Bangoo, Talim, Hwang, Zas, etc. >_<
Now, what the basis for all these rumors are, I don't know. But since the Alpha Pat thing panned out, a lot of people are jumping on this too. (Side note, Alpha Pat is apparently the "cross dresser" that was rumored not too long ago.)
OTs go up a week before release. We've still got 7 days until then.
Just because its rushed doesn't exactly mean its bad. /run
Alpha Patroklos (Setsuka style)
Evil Pyrrha (Sophitia style)
"Malfested" Kilik (Male mimic style, including from characters not in SC5; Zasalamel, Apprentice, Vader, Rock, etc)
"Final Boss" Sophitia (Female mimic style, including from characters not in SC5; Talim, etc)
Those are the remaining characters. Have fun.
I welcome lineup changes in fighters. As long as there is a spiritual successor to the characters in some form, it's all good.
Also, just because it's not something you particularly want, doesn't make it rushed. Game was looking polished to everyone until the alpha Pat footage. We don't know what that is, or what the development focus actually is for that particular aspect of the game - or where it even fell in the development timeline. We just know, based on one-minute-long footage of some crummy player trying to get his bearings with the game, that we don't like it; so it's clearly lazily executed, rushed and replaced (insert you favorite missing character here).
The rumor posted before the Alpha Patroklos reveal (on 8wayrun) only mentioned, and it didn't say anything about their movesets. The more complete rumor you're mentioning now was started on Shoryuken.com's forums, and only after the Alpha Patroklos reveal.Omega Pyrrah and "Kilik on fire"
Well, yeah, but the point is that it makes that list at least a little more credible.
*sigh*
Edit: Darn bbcoding. >.>
Honestly, at this point, I do not care how mimic-like the new chars/announcements will be. The current cast is solid enough, and if they are balanced properly, then that is more than enough, especially with CAS being in there.
Hey, now we're judging old tweets without context! Sounds like the internet to me!

Seriously, what developer isn't being rushed to put out their games nowadays? Publishers don't let you develop a game forever. The game's clearly been in production for longer than the under-two-year period people assumed when the game's release date was announced. Odashima could have easily been expressing discontent with dev schedules like ALL developers do. Look at the game outside the aPat "monstrosity". Game looks crazy polished. Going back to the old "rushed" accusation from almost a year ago makes no sense. At least see what the intention is behind this thing before calling it lazy, or saying the entire game has been rushed.
Roster may be solid, but there's no excuse for all the mimics, if the rumor is true. Zasalamel, Yun-seung, Talim, Setsuka ... these characters deserve their own slot; or, a new character with a similiar move set. SCIV came out when, in 08? It isn't like they haven't had time.

This game started development 2 years ago. Even though SC4 sold well, it didn't look like we'd be getting another one.
Well so far at least Setsuka's moves are in, even if they are pasted onto Patroklos. It is definitely better having it this way than the style not being in at all though.
In other news, an interview with Daishi on SRK seems to say there will definitely be DLC.

Yeah I'm aware, I'm just saying there has been a sizeable gap between sequels, and this will be the last Soulcal until next-gen systems. You would think, or maybe you wouldn't, they would want to make it the definitive version.
Surprised they didn't delay if it's just art assets. January is not a common month to put big stuff out, and delaying to early March wouldn't kill or run into anything big. I'm suspecting a cash grab.
Is that a fucking megabuster?

But it isn't JUST setsuka's style. It's some frankenstein Apprentice and Setsuka.

Why do you say that? I am not saying you're wrong, but I don't really see that based solely on the 60 seconds or so of footage we have of the style so far. It definitely just looks like Setsuka's with some slight animation differences to me, not to mention the guy was going grab happy a lot of the time...which indicates nothing. I don't see any of Apprentice's weird jump up in the air stance stuff or magical force lightning or anything like that. I can see the argument that he is holding the sword similarly to him but that doesn't really mean anything.
