if you see me in a fight with a bear, don't help me fool, help the bear!
Hey Gaf-Hop I'm new to the site and have been lurking this thread for a good year? haha anyway let me start my initiation process

1.Rank Kanye's Albums

  • My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
  • College Dropout
  • Graduation
  • Late Registration
  • 808's

2. Pick a coast to rep

East

3. Pac or Biggie

They're both so good but I'm going to have to go with Tupac, he has more songs out that I enjoy, but Ready to Die >

4. Make a comparison between Khalifa and something soft

Wiz is softer than christmas eve at night, with the family having hot cocoa in front of the fireplace reading christmas stories, until the children fall asleep then get put to bed.. (I don't even know)

5. Who won the Jay Z and Nas beef

Nas won the battle, Jay won the war.

6. Flocka or Royce

Royce >>>

7. What do you think of J.Cole

Cole is one of my favorite artists out right now, Cole World was a really good album, with some low points, but I think the highs of the album outshine the lows though. I went to his concert in Toronto last September, and it was my first concert and was an awesome experience. I managed to find the Warm up at a HMV at the mall :D

Warm Up > Cole world = Friday Night Lights

8. Best member in the Wu

Method Man. I haven't listened to a lot of Wu (Just 36 Chambers) but Method man has been my favorite.

9. Can Pac rap? Or does biggie got DAT FLOW

Tupac raps one of my favorite songs which is Do For Love

But Gimme the loot is so good..

10. Lupe Fiasco

Man I don't even know, some of the stuff he talks about I just really don't care for, and Lasers was pretty disappointing. He gets a 6 on the dumbass scale for releasing Go To Sleep then Lasers.. GTS was so good.

11. Lil B Retarded or Genius

A little from column A, a little from column B. Swag

12. Pick an era of Eminem

Marshall Mathers LP Eminem, leading to Eminem show..everything after was pretty butt.

13. How does Drake right such deep lyrics

By the sound of this guys music, for a rich guy he has a lot of female problems..
Drake_Crying.jpg

14. Nas old and Dusted?

His verse on Triple Beam Dreams shows alone that he still got it. His ear for beats is not good though, I'd love to hear him on some good production.

15. Joe Budden

Man I don't even know about this whole fetus killing thing..someone explain to me lol

You know that feeling when you drank just enough to really get into the music? I'm fucking there and Section 80 is blowing my mind right now. Ronald Reagan finally did something right.

Section 80 had a really fast curve for me, went from not liking it to loving it to thinking it's so so to again not liking it within about a month.

Kanye brings out the quality in Big Sean, even though everything Big Sean touches turns to quality. Everything they've done together has been gold.

MG&C, Looking For Trouble, Don't Look Down, See Me Now, etc.

Boiii killed dem features. Looking For Trouble's and Don't Look Down's verses are inarguably hot.

Dre in the studio with Ross for GFID, time to stock up on the crab meats

Like.. Cool N Dre you mean? Or Dre Day? Or 3 stacks?

Was just listening to Relapse in the car. Damn the production on that album is amazing. Shame Eminem couldn't bring the same. Dre was really on point.

Man, I think My Mind Is Playing Tricks On Me is a perfect song. Everything about it shines, never get tired of those verses and the beat.

He actually has some nice wordplay in some of those tracks, but that annoying accent ruins them.

I agree the accent is annoying, but in terms of the lyrics and flow there were a lot of songs where he tapped into the old shady, and was on another level.

I know many wont admit it was even a good album, but no way can Relapse be bad.

Yep. I don't think Em was bad by any stretch, it's just those beats were pretty god like, whereas his rapping wasn't. I just expect more from Eminem.

I think Relapse is a better album than Recovery.

Is there a (free) program where I can practice or get the grasp of making beats with? Right now I dont have money to blow but i do plan to buy one down the line.

I've been making beats since I was 14 (around 7 years ago). The best thing to do is download a bunch of trials of some of the well known DAWs out there such as FL Studio, Reason, Ableton Live etc.. and try to get a feel for one of them.

If you download one of them and aren't feeling it, don't ditch the hobby completely. Try out another program. The first program I started messing with was FL Studio, but I wasn't feeling it too much. I tried some other stuff out and now I am where I am today. Just keep at it

Which one did you think was the best? I was interested in doing beats for a minute, but I always had shitty computers or the computer wasn't mine. When I graduated High school in June i finally got me a laptop so now i wanna finally get into it.

Yea, but Make Her Say was the Kanye feature off Cudi's debut album. MG&C was the same for Big Sean.

Ahh. I see where you were going with it.

I think it was posted here but not sure. And if it was, deserves a re-post.

Listen to Dave and Posdnuos (from De La Soul) present First Serve - Pushin' Aside, Pushin' Along

This track alone has gotten me hooked and hyped for the tape. I'm loving the beat.

The last we heard of First Serve it was 3am in a Parisian suburb at an out of control house party with ‘The Goon Time Mixtape’ blasting into the night. That was just a taste of things to come from De La Soul’s Plug 1 & Plug 2 present ‘First Serve’; a dynamic hip-hop group, an album, a concept, the soundtrack to a movie that has yet to be made and a fable for our times.

‘First Serve’ is many things, but at its heart it is the story of two young boys from Queens, New York with big dreams and larger rhymes. Two friends, Deen Whitter (aka Plug 2 / Dave) and Jacob ‘Pop Life’ Barrow (aka Plug 1/ Pos), friends from seventh grade, are by their own admission, “different, but the differences seem to complement everything we do.” Their name ‘First Serve’ comes from their motto, “First come, First Serve, get what you deserve.”

We get a first glimpse into their world in the form of the track "Pushin' Aside, Pushin' Along". Due to hit the streets in April 2012, the ‘First Serve’ album, made with acclaimed French production team 2 & 4 (aka Chokolate & Khalid), tells the story of two dreamers in a basement struggling to start their musical career, the battles they face, through to the point that they eventually release their debut single, ‘make it big’ and their hard work and persistence finally pays off. As we know that is rarely where the story ends and the story of ‘First Serve’ is no different. Taking place in an animated world that could have been imagined by Hawley Pratt on Magic Mushrooms, the high spirited and often hilarious journey is pure old school hip-hop; skits, disco, beats, funk, quips, burns and hustlin’ all included.

My personal favourite was Sony Acid Pro...I used that up until 2010. Then I switched to Ableton Live which I continue to use to this day with an Akai MPD26. Honestly though, you gotta get a feel for the programs yourself, because what I love might be the opposite of what you're looking for in a DAW. For the longest time I was the only guy I knew that was using Sony Acid Pro, everyone else preferred other programs. So just test them all out and see which one clicks with you the most.

Oochie walley walley.
I copped QB's finest shortly after it came out, and even back then, young ignoramus knew oochie wally was some corny shit.
I mean, just look at it. LOOK at it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoEnHC8ddVw

Just cringe worthy, like a really, really bad imitation of Big Pimpin. And that beat is straight gAHbage.

Glad he's off this shit and back to his Nasty self. Speaking of Nas, Film is a seriously underrated track.

Is someone able to do me a favour and count up how many votes Return of 4eva has in the voting thread? Things are really damn tight up the top, and I want to be 100% sure.

I have a number from Wenis, but mine differs, so I want a third check.

Sorry for the delay, but this takes awhile. Spent a good 3 hours just counting votes, making sure everything is there.

I got 65. Counted four times and I gotta say I want to choke the hell out of some of yall who formatted your list so differently than others

goddamn...and it starts on page one where they have a clear example to follow too! But noooooo they gotta be different and make shit difficult.

Totally agree. I got 64. So it's like shit. Wenis got 67. Guess I just gotta count again!

I'm sure I messed up at some point...There just was a point where I wanted to stab my eyes out to stop seeing numbers and then when it came to marking them down the paper got so cluttered i ended up using about 5 different colors to mark where I was and how to separate things.
