Street Fighter X Tekken new info and videos round-up

I was afraid of the matches lasting too long, but from the looks of this video, that might not be a problem. You can deal a ton of damage if you know what you are doing.

I know I'm repeating myself, but it'd help to find what combos characters can do with no meter and THEN going to learn combos that use 1 or 2 meters at mosst.
Due to the damage scaling, the only time you'd ever use up 3 stocks is if you know your combo will KO your opponent.

You're right. I guess I wasn't really applying what I was looking at to a real world scenario and serious match. It still does seem like the matches won't last as long as I had thought, and that is a good thing. Some of the early footage we had seen seemed to go on forever, but even then, there was a bunch of inexperience on display.

Some are better but considering gems don't seem that much a factor in the first place (besides Pandora setup ones which are standard) than it's not really a big deal.

So after all these videos and streams anyone have any clue who they will be maining yet? I'm really liking how Rolento is looking.

I'll probably jump straight into it with Ken/Cammy.... and if I'm not feeling one of them in this game than I'll probably add Chun Li. I'll be working on / trying out Lili, Asuka, Julia, Ling, Nina, Kazuya, Jin & Heihachi though.... I'm really interested in the Tekken side... Poison and Juri will get some play from me on the SF side of things too.

Looking ahead, really can't wait to get my hands on Sakura in this game, not to mention Christie, Lei, Alisa, Lars, Bryan and Elena.

Thinking of some actual teams though...

Ken/Cammy
Ken/Chun Li
Ken/Lili
Ken/Kazuya
Kazuya/Asuka
Nina/Julia

Wow, everybody wants to play Vega. Is it that obvious how good he is in this game? ^_^

Unless his normals are on par with cvs2 or st vega, I don't see the power of vega in this game. Not yet at least. tech rolling, and srk being weaker seems to help him a whole lot.

I'm staying away from most of the main sf cast with this game.

Well Claw's sort of my main in ST, and I really like his combo options in SFxT. I don't know how good he'll actually be in this game, but I hope to have a lot of fun playing him.

I've only watched maybe 30 minutes of SFxT footage so I could be way off, but it seems like zoning and playing keepaway is going to be pretty difficult. I wonder how Dhalsim is going to be anything but bad. I hope I'm wrong there.

Not sure who I want to play yet. Thinking Chun Li (no more charging? linking to legs now that it's a motion? YES) and then probably somebody more rushdown-y. I'd like to play Ryu but a Chun/Ryu team just feels too vanilla -- plus they kind of duplicate each other. Seems like a mix of rushdown and zoning would be ideal to avoid a bad matchup with both of your guys.

To start off my chops in SF, I'll be going Vega/Akuma or Vega/Sagat. I hope to change it to Vega/Jin shortly after depending on how quickly I pick up the tekken characters

Not even that for me... I'm lacking inf SF's I really like here (Rose? Makoto? DeeJay? Hurry up, Elena!), and I at least liked Vega in Alpha 3. Plus the fact he can actualy combo with Rolling Crystal Flash in this game, whereas I hated how it felt in IV series (so slow to start, eww). He's probably the only one of the 4 kings of shadowloo that I can stand anymore after SFIV series, anywho, lol.

Here's some Sim infrom from SimSimIV on SRK, who got to go through his trials. I like that Sim has learned some tricks...

I finally did Dhalsim's trials today and this is what I found that is worth sharing:

-You can do a combo into HP fire and as the opponent falls to the ground you can short slide and cancel into KKK super (upwards)
-You can chain lk->mk xx ex fire and then do it over again til you are out of meter (pretty useless though)
-You can do a ground link combo and combo into standing lk (the stretchy one). Not that it's usefull
-You can link "back lk" after overhead, and chain that into magic series
-You can now link standing HP (the headbutt) after mummy (more hitstun)
-You can now combo standing HP (the headbutt) into heavy flame, and crouching HP can be canceled into specials too (Didn't check if you could combo it into heavy flame too)
-You can juggle PPP super after hp flame mid screen and corner
-New BnB is probably lp fire - teleport - Air HP - crouching HP (or standing) xx HP flame -> super (about 450 dmg if crouching HP xx heavy flame works)

If I find a lull in all the team action when I get to play, I'll probably be using Jin/Ryu as of right now. Otherwise, playing Jin while my friends round out the team with whoever. I'm expecting to be teamed with Abel, Hwoarang, Ken, Kuma or Hugo.

I'm less concerned about Dhalsim's offensive output and more concerned about his ability to keep-away. They would need to drastically retool him to make him an offensive weapon. Dhalsim has always been about dinking people to death unless he has super - if he can't do that, weird gimmick combos aren't going to matter. I would trade all of those tricks for a teleport that recovered faster, for instance.

Well, most keepaway is nerfed in this game by, say, the fact tekken characters have awesome fireball invincibility on a multitude of moves. If Sim's limbs count as physical, and don't get avoided by those moves, that should help him greatly. Lots of Walkspeeds are slow, and he'll have a teammate to cover whatever he DOESN'T do well.

Wonder if Speed gems would help his tele recovery, for that matter? They say it helps make links easier (?!?), which suggest a boost to move recovery. So speed could be his defensive gems of choice if they help him run back and establish spacing.

Instant Air Tele is already pretty fast though, and doesn't lose one much space to attack. Did I see an EX tele in a vid somewher? If so, that could also help loads.

He should be able to tag cancel out of his distanced pokes, which is a good thing, but I wonder if he can special cancel any of them? Being able to stick people into blockstun before tele'n would help him control match flow well, and really buff his runaway game...

"u mean Vega and Yun...."

Julia and Yun play nothing alike, though. They only have similar moves because that's what Julia's moves are like in Tekken.

Markman: Can you juggle with consecutive elbows like in Tekken?

I was bored this morning...

Yay for more Julia:)

I don't particularly like Yun in the slightest (If I play a twin, it's Yang), but I'm really looking forward to her.

Been a fan of "lunge punchers" in fighters way before those twins showed up ;)

Teams? None yet but I have a lot of characters I'm interesting in playing. Juri, Poison, Lili, Hugo, and Kuma are all on the short list.

Poison and Hugo looks like a good team.
Someone who can get in + someone who can cause damage and mix-ups on knockdown look like a good strategy.

I'm sure it's been asked but is it safe to say that at the casual level (aka LIVE and PSN) SF x Tekken will cannibalize most SF4:AE players?

I'm sure at the high level tourney scene there will be room for both and all other FGs but I'm just curious if your casual fan will consider this a sequel to SF4 and see no reason to play both.

Any of these teams might be my own:

Akuma/Steve Fox
Akuma/Yoshimitsu
M. Bison/Vega
M. Bison/Juri

Also interested to see how Jin, Dhalsim, and Cammy end up playing.

Raven
ryu
jin

Heihachi

Until Dudley is released.

I'm definitely going with Vega since he's been the only SF guy I've used in games he's in since SF2CE...

Really having trouble figuring out a partner though because I have no interest in any of the other characters.

I noticed Ryu's standing jab hitting crouchers, and remember Desk saying that there's not that much difference between combo dummies in this game, I'm wondering if standing jabs give you massive frame advantage like in SF4 and if they whiff on shorter characters while they're crouching or not... That was one thing that kinda bugged me a bit about SSF4, I felt like Juri would've been a lot better for instance if her standing jab hit everyone crouching.

edit: also I heard on the stream that Tekken character's high attacks don't whiff on crouchers. I kinda hope this is all true because it will give a lot of advantage to attackers, you'll be able to come up with better block strings and hit confirms.

Mark make a 50% ogre/julia combo using no supers and only 1 ex move and tag some tag ins and I'll go buy a fight pad :p

I've mained Mishima style Jin in every Tekken he's been in, so he's on the top of my list.

Will probably start with:

Jin/Ken
Jin/Akuma

Others I think I'll put a fair share of time into:
Main Roster: Akuma, Ken, Jin, Hwoarang, Asuka, Juri, Cammy, Ibuki, Kazuya, King
DLC: Cody, Bryan Fury

Curious to check out Cole and fat Megaman too.
