I'm a current memphis resident and the proof is in the pie son, people here like stoopid rap; what's hot in the streets is shit like Future, Gotti, Gucci, 2 chainz. That multisyllable rappity rap shit is not what the people love or care about it. The midwest lives and breathes on that shit.

fact.

that's cool and all but not what we were talking about. where tongue twisting started and what's hot in Memphis right now aren't the same subject

What we were actually saying is that Bone perfected it and no one outside memphis associates it with that city. The Midwest took a style and perfected it, and it will be remembered for it.

Neither really. It's not very good. It's night and day different from Creepin' and any 3-6.

I've listened to Faces of Death too but I was wondering if it sounded anything like any 3-6 material. Like many here, haven't listened to any 3-6 so was trying to get an idea before I get into it. Will still check out the links you posted earlier though.

Pretty sure we have to have |OT| in there.

"GAF-Hop |OT4| At that Das EFX concert, I riggity realized that I liggity love you" ?

How many characters are allowed for a title?

Tongue twisting? You mean that fast style of polysyllable shit? Because if we're talking origins Kool G and others was doing that shit way before any scenes in the south and midwest were doin there thing.

The point is where something came from is irrelevant, styles or flows can come from several different mouths. What matters is what music you make with it, and how the people react to it.

GET HYPE GAF HERES SOME BALLA BALLA GARBAGE FOR YALL
Don_Trip_Guerrilla-front-large.jpg

Good looking out peterb0y, Trips' over emphatic style can get a lil tiresome but I like a lot of his work and this may be his best tape yet. Did you check out his tape with Starlito last year called Step Brothers? If not you should check that out, premium balla balla garbage right there and Life from that project was one of my favourite songs last year partly because i'm a sucker for that sample.

Boldy James has dropped another long mixtape dedicated to the drug game and street related shenanigans that i'm enjoying so far although I gotta spin it in full more times to see how I compare it with Trappers Alley.

Also, Spitta and Styles P has hit DatPiff.

Next week is going to be absolutely amazing. Big KRIT and Rittz dropping within a few days of each other. I don't know which I'm more excited for.

KRIT is much more consistent but Rittz hit some damn high highs in White Jesus.

Yeah. Granted my posts should be taken with a grain gram of salt whenever Bone is involved. Usually.

To the people who have listened to Bone's "Faces of Death", how does it compare to any of 3-6 material? Are there any similarities or is Creepin' On Ah Come Up/E. 1999 the closest thing to 3-6?
Probably the closest thing to three six is Hell Sent.

Theres a lot more west sound in BTNH too IMO. To the point where them being from Ohio is almost a coincedence. You can tell Eazy-E had huge influence on their sound. Man, AIDS was such a shitty way for him to go out. Especially for a guy who had such an impact on rap.

Great Schoolboy Q song, unfortunately its just a run-of-the-mill rap music video.

Also that ChiDuly Weeknd mashup is great. I don't normally like The Weeknd or house music, but that shit is banging. I definitely would encourage ppl to give it a listen.

Rank Kanye's albums
Pick a coast to rep
Pick a side in the Biggie/2Pac discussion
Make a comparison between Khalifa and something soft
Decide who you think won the Jay-Z/Nas beef.
Flocka or Royce?
What you think of J. Cole?
Who is the best Wu-Tang member? (+optional: Rae vs. Ghost)
Can 2pac rap? (Or do Biggie got DAT FLOW?)
Rate Lupe on a scale of 1-10 (+ call him a dumbass for Lasers and political views)
Lil B? Genius or mentally challenged?
Pick an era of Eminem
How does Drake write such deep lyrics?
Is Nas old and dusted with a horrible ear for production?
Joe Budden: Introspective and witty, or annoying emo fetus killing asshole?
Bonus: Answer every one of these questions again once in a while for the remainder of your stay here.

So, I was thinking for the new OT of dropping a few of these. Would people be cool with dropping the following:

Flocka/Royce (It just seems stupid, I mean, Royce is actually good. Shit.)
What do you think of J. Cole? (Cole is not new anymore, doesn't come up for discussion much)
Merging the can 2pac rap with the other Pac/Biggie one. (Don't really need 2)
And maaaaybe Budden, but not sure.

The way I see it, these are supposed to be like topics that come up in GAF Hop a lot, or let us get to know a persons musical tastes. Those questions above just seem a little redundant.

Any thoughts?

Agreed completely. Exactly what I thought when I was doing it myself.

Does anybody think Andre 3000 won't have verse of the year with his Gorillaz shit? I think he's got it locked already.....

Nice to see Danny Brown, fucked up teeth and all, on that cover.

As for the questions, these could go:

-Make a comparison between Khalifa and something soft
("Soft" has been done to death, not funny anymore)
-Flocka or Royce?
(Neither are really worthy of discussion)
-What you think of J. Cole?
(Who Dat?)
-How does Drake write such deep lyrics?
(Drake jokes are old, Take Care is good haters just gotta get over it)
-Joe Budden: Introspective and witty, or annoying emo fetus killing asshole?
(This guy is irrelevant)

and we really gotta rephrase this one:
-Can 2pac rap? (Or do Biggie got DAT FLOW?)

the wiz one is getting old. we've run things to compare him to, plus its just not that funny anymore.

also what about:
"Which rapper/hip hop artist could pull off being gay without ridicule?"
Ok. So Wiz out. I dunno about the gay question. I mean, we talk about it from time to time, but I just don't want it to lead down a road where either we look bad or get the thread locked.

Yeah why don't we all just go over some ways to reconstruct the questions completely? I'd say only a few of them are relevant/important/humorous anymore.

Also, that Young Guru vid is gold. Reminds me that I still need to hear Ni**as in Poorest. Doing that now. I assumed that Mos wasn't trying to come at Ye and Jay, but rather just put his spin on it and keep things grounded in his vision.

And I do have to agree, I don't see anything topping Andre 3K's verse on DoYaThing in the foreseeable future. He absolutely MURDERED that track!

Man you gotta have:

Who is the best hype man in the game?

Does it go to Flava Flav who could legitimately spit on occasion? U-God? Or maybe mother fucking SPLIFF STAR? You know that's a tough question!

There is no way a rapper could pull off being gay without ridicule. At least I don't think they could in my lifetime anyway. Even if you look slightly different to the norm people will come at you I mean people used to say Andre 3000 looked gay. Seeing as Lil Wayne was up on stage in fucking leopard print leggings and seemed very much like he was lip locking with Birdman in that picture that was doing the rounds, I think Wayne pretty much has the most suspect rapper in the game award on lock.

A few options:

Who's the best feature killer (Andre 3000 [lol :(], Busta, Luda, Jada)?

Is Busta Rhymes a trash rapper?

Does hip-hop need to be censored more?

Macca

Maybe we should have two sections for the initiation. Like,

Section 1: Musical tastes

Fav Artist
Best feature killer
Fav album
etc

Section 2: GAF-Hop Cycle
Rank Kanyes albums
Biggie or Pac
Forever or 36 chambers
Suspect dude
etc

I feel like the initiation questions should be based on two things:
a) answering questions that tend to come up in here a lot, and
b) give us a feel for what their taste in hip hop is (lean towards newer stuff or classic stuff, underground or mainstream, which coasts, etc.)
