Monster Hunter 4 - Logo, Releasing Spring 2013, Screenshots, [Up: Trailer]

I have no problem with people wanting it on other consoles, but "Confused Gamer" doesn't really seem to know what he is talking about. He says he has never played a Monster Hunter game, and sure the trailer makes it look cool and all, but most people will immediately be turned off by the kind of game Monster Hunter is once they play it.

I didn't buy Dragon's Dogma because they originally hinted at a PC version then changed their minds. Now I'll get it for PS3 when it's twenty dollars and I'm less busy.

Also, the art, fuck that Oblivion styled art. Plenty of WRPG and WRPG styled games with great aesthetics and charm and you target Oblivion of all things.

Geez, it looks a ton better than Oblivion. They weren't targeting that game, they were going for a classic fantasy style. Oblivion was doing sort of the same thing, it just failed and looked awful.

totally MH4 unrelated, and sorry about this....

But I just had a thought out of nowhere that if they could port MH2dos to Vita with the current control scheme and some MH Frontier features, I'd be there day one......

I'm all for illogical hype for games that we love no matter what, but the trailer has way more eww parts than ooooh parts. I'll buy it, but don't make me feel like i'm watching an entirely different trailer than you guy are please.

Sorry, dude. Didn't mean to have a different opinion from you.

Desperate to fight big monsters and drunken on hype, I went out and picked DD at full price. It better be as good as everyone been saying.

Dear Capcom,

This is Confused Gamer.

I’m writing because this trailer for the Japanese Spring 2013 release of your game Monster Hunter 4 looks awesome. I don’t speak Japanese or live in Japan, so I won’t be able to play this game. Then again, I don’t have a 3DS or any other system for which a North American version of a Monster Hunter game has been released.

Oh lawd XD

Forbes hires fanboy writers now? smh...

Trying to find the source but these people aren't even really hired. A lot of them aren't paid and Forbes doesn't fact-check their stuff unless it blows up. It's basically as if Kotaku just let a bunch of their commenters write.

lol at the blatant ripping off of the Hylian crest in the MH4 logo. Its either misspelling titles or ripping off logos. Capcom is hilarious.

Dragon's Dogma isn't Monster Hunter. It borrows a bit from MH, but it's not MH. Combat feels totally different. Doesn't even have co-op, which is central to MH. It's silly to use DD as a barometer for MH's potential success on HD consoles.

After seeing many reviews/comments treat the nexus 7 as something cheap enough to buy just because... why not apply that logic to gaming handhelds? I understand not wanting to spend, say, $300 or 400 to get both consoles, and admittedly even for cheaper I can understand not wanting to grab a handheld that'll be good for one game, but if he can find more to play then it's probably worth at least finding a refurbished 3DS or something.

That, and I think part of the secret to Monster Hunter is that it actually works really well as a portable title. You can take a quest during a longer period of downtime, get through it, make progress and have fun, whereas I'm less inclined to do that on a whim for a console game. Pretty sure the lion's share of MH success has been on handhelds anyway, consoles playing second fiddle.

That's stupid. DD =/= MH. Totally different games like tranciful mentioned. Hell didn't Tri sell over 500k? And it looked like shit on the Wii.

Did a million between Europe and US iirc. However that was with a lot of fanfare and marketing from Nintendo. It was something of a failure in Japan. The series just isn't nearly as popular on consoles.

I motion (no pun intended) we collectively find a different word than "shit" to describe supposedly bad-looking games.

Clearly, the only games that actually look like shit are the brown shooters, because they literally do.

Who's with me?
No one? okay

I really don't see whats wrong with the guy wanting MH on the HD consoles. I'm actually flabbergasted it's not already.

This may be further proving my point that it's simply a series better at home on portables. Then again who knows, maybe this kind of game WOULD have done ok on PS3 in Japan, but choosing the Wii was blindly chasing the largest install base despite it being an install base with no interest in MH or at least relatively little, and most of them were content to just play on portables if they couldn't on consoles.

Then again the PS2 undoubtedly had that market and IIRC MH sales on that paled compared to PSP sales.

Yeah, the series exploded on the PSP. I don't think it ever cracked a million in Japan on the PS2. Tri managed to do better than that, but it still not even close to the portable numbers.

That's probably why they released Dragons Dogma in the US without online play. Oh and are trying to kill fighting games again. They love money!

For any console MH game they made they could make more money putting those resources towards a new handheld game.

You might as well start asking why Nintendo has never made a console Pokemon.
