Whoa, just read the reviews. Looks like Resident Evil has finally reached the quality of its movie counterpart.

I watched the Gamespot video review, and it's the first footage I've seen from this game since the first trailer. There is a part where the new guy is walking on some planks by a snowy mountain and takes down some guards with guns. Are they actually armed zombies or have the Resident Evil franchise turned into an Uncharted clone?

There are a lot of parts that looked cool, but some parts looked just like another action game.

The same guy who was so hung up on the linearity he didn't notice that the shooting in Uncharted 3 was busted.
Ehehe... Well he didn't have any profound point to make regarding the general state of shooting in this industry. Now linearity on the other hand, ...

$60 is a high price to ask for the possibility that he may enjoy it if everything he's reading is not to his taste.

I would still rather be my own judge. If I always just put my trust in critics and bought strictly on what they recommended, then I would have missed out on a ton of games that I really enjoyed. Same can be said for books, movies and music as well.

The Bad

Loads of bad, overlong quick-time events
Excruciating overemphasis on mediocre set piece events
Ruins the pace by constantly ripping control from you
Poorly executed scripted events lead to unavoidable deaths.

These are all spot on, by the way. I'm finding some fun out of the game, but they really needed to work on their set pieces and scripted events.

Well this helps me sort out my Gamefly issue. I already have two slots ready for Dishonored and RE6, but I knew I wouldn't finish Borderlands 2 fast enough to send it back in time for XCOM.

With this news I'll just send RE6 right back in the mail when it shows up.

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
Part of me is sad that the scores are so low-ish, but the other part is glad that for once reviewers are speaking their minds and "daring" to set low scores on a AAA-game.

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
Wow, I expected lukewarm reviews, but not like this. I'm glad to see that gaming journalism has some balls left, but I wonder if they would do this for such a hyped western-developed title that turned out to be shit?

Anyways, still looks like a fun, brainless (pardon the pun) rental. If you guys want a real Resident Evil, go play Revelations for the 3DS.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
But, as with Operation Racoon City, the game will sell like crazy.

Initially, absolutely. But if it gets really bad word of mouth it could really go off a cliff sales wise, and I'm betting Capcom needs a monster return.

It's the poster child for where the series went wrong. It left its horror roots behind in favor of action. Just go back and look at the RE4 prototypes in comparison to what actually came out. The prototypes leaned toward horror while what we ended up getting was an action game.

Ah, OK. Totally misinterpreted your post. My mistake.

And yet I bet this game still sells well >_>

People keep saying that ORC just coasted on the name on the series, but considering how poorly Revelations sold I think it just comes down to people liking shooters. I guess we'll see if people are sick of RE shooters if RE6 bombs.

You guys its out tomorrow at every RedBox in the country. Save your monies pick it up for $2 beat it by Friday return it and be happy you spent only $8 on a game that you might either loathe with every fiber of your being or be slightly entertained by. WIN FOR EVERYONE

Time for me to eat some crow, I did not think the major websites would score a high profile game with big marketing like RE6 that honestly. Kudos to them.

He's probably restricted from mentioning certain things and has to review around those limitations.

It's a bug list. Capcom sent out review code of RE6 very, very early. Which, you know, I have to give them credit for. They could have hidden the game and coasted on hype and curiosity, but they let reviewers have it early. Earlier than any other game this year.

That said, I understand Jeff's decision to wait for retail.

But only the x360 version is available. Isn't the game on 2 discs?

And of course Giantbomb can't release a review on time for one of the biggest releases of the year.
