What power plant? What was wrong with it? Was it just shitty?

Sorry just edited my post.

Locals didnt want it, so they were going to vote Con, so the Lib's scrapped the site having already spent millions on the initial construction. They then had to buy out the contract and pay a shit ton of money to back out.

Further, they lied to the house about the costs.

I think NDP and CON were going to call a vote of non confidence and call another election over what happened today.
It depends on if Horwath thinks she could get the Liberals to play ball. She's going to get what she wants in the next budget or else there will be an election in the Spring.

I think after what just transpired, we will be voting much earlier than spring.

This is not good. I smell CON majority.

I called it as soon as I saw they called a caucus news conference in the evening, time to find out what the status is of the Thornhill Provincial riding association

Do you think Horwath would prefer the Conservatives in power where she has no say or the Liberals where she gets a big say? She's not stupid.

CON's and NDP sure do. Liberal name is weak as hell right now and they smell blood.

They dont give a shit if you have to vote again. They want the seat. period.

Because of McGuinty. With a new leader (or with him simply gone), the party can easily rebound. As much as people don't like McGuinty, they hate Hudak and his idiotic, backward policies even more.

And what if it becomes an all time low voter turnout that could result in a similarly weak minority? If that happens, you don't want to be the instigator that cased that vote to happen.

NDP isnt that strong of a brand. Libs were 37%, Cons were 35% and NDP was 22%. With the teachers debacle and now this, i bet that Con number shoots way up.

They just blew 200mill or more of taxpayers money to win an election. Thats going to piss off a large amount of people. Myself included.

It was a very close election between Lib and Con. NDP isnt quite there yet with the voting public.

Cons will get their election. I bet we start seeing a serious ramp up of attack ads after this week.

Full number is in. 650mil to cancel the plant. I bet that goes even higher.

I cant believe they "FORGOT" to file 20, 000 docs concerning the plant.

There is a mayor in Toronto that kind of debunks that. People are going to want a change.

I'm not sure you can compare Hudak and Ford on that kind of plane. "People are going to want a change" is as likely to land Horvath in better poll numbers as anything else.

Still dont think they will get numbers to challenge. Should be interesting to see where this goes.

It's speculative until we know who the Liberals elect as their preem.

And, as long as the teachers continue to hate the Tories and the Liberals, I don't think you can count them out.

Among those mentioned as possible Liberal leadership contenders are embattled Energy Minister Chris Bentley, Finance Minister Dwight Duncan, Children and Youth Services Minister Eric Hoskins, Health Minister Deb Matthews, Training Colleges and Universities Minister Glen Murray, and party president Yasir Naqvi, the Ottawa Centre MPP.

You can cross 1 and 2 off the list now. lol.

The only other one i know is deb matthews.

We need a Trudeau.

*barfs* The last thing we need is Conservatives in charge on all three levels of government.

Talk about a triple triad of terror if they control National, Provincial and Municipal all at once.

What is he discussing or is it a general appearance?

Toronto entertainment purveyors EMBRACE are proud to launch their Speakers Series with honoured guest RAY KURZWEIL on Thursday, October 18 at The Danforth Music Hall. Kurzweil will present his core thesis about the exponential growth of technology and it’s impact on life, health and communications followed by an audience Q&A.

Maybe I'll be lucky and I'll get to ask a question.

Oh fuck, what sort of question should I ask?

I'm originally form Oakville, and putting a power plant in Oakville was the stupidest place to put one. Two reasons:

- It's a well developed suburb, and the monstrosity was going to be fairly close to schools and houses.

- Rich people live there. They even brought in Erin Brockovich to fight it.

Anyway, McGuinty had no choice but to resign he was a liability to his party at this point. But this smells too much like the Harris to Eves transition.

Well, clearly you are excited to go. Which of his many fields are you most interested in?

Find something that speaks to you personally. Or just ask something about his new book.

For me, i would like his take on the future of human interaction. Will text and the typed word become more prevalent in society. Is human speech going to be rendered optional. Will society become more introverted from a public standpoint. Cause it sure looks like its heading that way.

Well I don't want to talk to him about his inventions, I don't think - while I think those were really interesting.

And I don't want to ask him any question I can just google, so 'factual statements' are boring.

I think I might ask him something about how feels society will transition into the rapidly expanding scientific functionality we are achieving in the next decade, but something -more- specific than that. He'll probably talk about that at one point.

I guess I should have MULTIPLE questions prepared, in case someone asks him something I wanted to ask him before me, or in case he mentions it during his presentation. Mind if I still your question (or the spirit of it) as one of the possible questions I can ask?

Yeah sure.

You could also grab onto something during his speech that you could push into a further explanation or use to expand on a key point you had in mind.

God damn it, you just made me sign up for another credit card.

I'm still on the fence. I finally checked in on my RBC Rewards, and apparently I have over 30,000 points. I can get a $250 Futureshop giftcard with that. Not sure if I should switch... yet. ;)
