I seem to have located a shop an hour drive away from me that can downgrade ps3's. Because i thought it was irreversable i already formatted it..eh ill still go there and downgrade it. Im still pissed off at myself for forgetting there was a disc in there. So damn stupid.

for 80 you can get a flasher to downgrade your console. cheaper than buying a new one methinks.

Anyone know how to do a full system wipe, like history, accounts, PSN accounts etc?
I want to get the new CFW, and then go online with it. However, for this PS3 I have already gotten an email from Sony saying "you gonna get banned" or something like that. I've got a separate PS3 now for my main PSN account, but i'd happily make a new one for the CFW PS3. Just as long as the main one isn't affected by proxy.

OMG MMaRsu that fucking sucks. My heart sank when I read that happened to you. Gonna set you back a few bones and cause a big headache but you can thankfully flash it back at least. Tough break.
What does that mean exactly? That the games with patched eboots to work on 3.55 (SSX for example) will work on 4.21 without needing to revert back to the original eboot?
Guessing PSN doesn't work completely? (Store/activations and all)
Not sure if I should wait for rebug or get this.
Also, is this really how the boot up screen looks on rogero? With his branding? I really hope that isn't the case. How tacky.

It just means games that require fw up to 4.21 don't need to be patched anymore. Conversely I believe you'll need to revert patched eboots back to their originals.
The boot up PS logo is replaced with rogero's logo.

That's the case. I don't think a boot animation needs to look sophisticated. Also 4.21 is safe now for the most part. When rebug comes out we can just upgrade again. It'll be nice to play wwe 13 if rebug isn't out yet on Tuesday ... Thinking of burning up a free redbox rental on dishonored this weekend.

The boot animation thing is not a deal breaker, of course. But it's still tacky. I appreciate the work Rogero does as much as anyone, but I don't need his branding splashed all over my PS3. I know he's the creator of my firmware. Put your name under system settings somewhere, but not on my beautiful boot up! ~_~

To save people a few headaches once you've updated to RogerO 4.21CFW:
Internal games will run fine from my experience. If you're using an external drive, make sure you have only the external plugged in (no other USB drives) and enable the BD-Mirror and External options in MultiMAN. Even games that didn't need this enabled in 3.55 Kmeaw seem to need it on in RogerO 4.21.
I thought something had gone wrong after my update since every external game would black screen but removing my USB thumbdrive fixed it.

Just updated from 4.21 1.0 to 4.21 1.9 using that convoluted 3.55 downgrade method. Trying to update directly using recovery method didn't worked (got corrupted data).
I have updated to 1.9 just for "XMB Icons problem from in-game PS button is now fixed" . That thing not working drove me nuts on 4.21 1.0
Btw....to anyone who wants to upgrade. Before upgrading make sure you do a NAND backup from Multiman. Open multiman, browse to any file, open in hex viewer and press SELECT + START. This will dump the NAND. You will NEED those file in case the upgrade fails.

Official thread on Tortuga Cove has mixed results on older Phat consoles (can't tell if people are not following the convoluted directions, or something buggy is actually bricking people.) Think I may hold off for a bit longer as I don't want to destroy my 60GB running 3.55 KMEAW right now.

I was worried at first about it too, everything I ran from external would black screen. Once I plugged in only my external HDD and removed the thumb drive, everything started working like it did on 3.55 kmeaw.
You'll still need to resign eboots for anything that was signed for 3.55+ but all in all it seems to work well if you manage not to brick.

So you updated directly from 3.55 kmeaw in recovery? I am kind of in the same boat. My PS3 essentially went from 3.55 OFW to keamw and has been on that since. You didn't do any of the QA enabling instructions or anything?

Nope no QA needed. Just rename the rogero pup to UPDAT.PUP put in PS3/UPDATE folder on USB and boot into recovery (hold down power until turns on then off, then hold down again until two consecutive beeps) and then do system update from usb. Done. Took 3 minutes.
Only weird bug I see is the photo xmb icon is now named homebrew. Doesn't make any sense. It is clearly still the photo section of the xmb.

Edit: nvm netflix doesn't work unless your logged into PSN.

Yeah it really sucks man, it's going to cost me a bit of money but I just wish I had taken that damn disc out. Either way I want to downgrade back fast.

Is there any downside to using BD Mirror even if the games don't need it? I always use it just because I never remember what games need it or don't. And I always have a disc in my system. It just avoids any compatibility issues you may run into.

Multiman can remember what what settings to use, just press triangle on the game and select the BD-Mirror checkbox.
None atm. It should just be a case of finding the new memory addresses though so I doubt it will take long.

Always forget to do that. No big deal really to press select+X when starting a game.
I'm finding every single game that was fixed for 3.55 is still working on 4.21. So I don't know what some are talking about saying those eboots would have to be reverted to the original or re-signed or something. I've now tried 4 games and they all work. Don't own anymore games that were fixed but I'm sure most games y'all have that were fixed for 3.55 WILL WORK on 4.21. No need to re-rip or revert back to original eboot or whatever. I may have been mis-understanding the whole thing but there you go.
Deux Ex, Max Payne, AC Revelations, and Arkham City are the 4 games. I'm fairly sure these all had eboot patches.

So I have pretty much stayed on DEX the whole time cuz am not big into movies. 3.55 DEX specifically. I never update to the newer (4.21DEX) ones because I don't like using the bdemu, rather play off internal.
Now my question is with the new lv0 leak, is anyone in the scene interested in making a 4.21 DEX CFW that let's me backup the newer game on the internal ?
I think some games are patched internally (via a .pkg) and others are just "replace EBOOT". If am not mistaken there is a difference and for the latter portion you might need to go back to the original EBOOTs.

It will almost certainly be possible to either patch the region check or spoof your console to the right region. I'm sure you'll see something soon.
The new Rogero is perfectly stable and safe. I didn't like Rebug's 3.55 CFW as it seemed unnecessarily bloated and lots of the options were useless (I prefer the minimum amount changed from OFW as possible). Ther enew CFW may be based on 4.30 though so maybe it's worth waiting.

I'm trying to downgrade to 3.55, but I have a problem. When I go into recovery mode and try to do system update from my external device, I get a prompt:

- Im on 3.55 kmeaw, and got a spoofer installed. I asked here and people told me to uninstall it before trying Rogero 4.21. Ok, ill do it. But has anyone tested 4.21 with a ps3 that has been "spoofed"?
- Any news on N64 and Ps1/2 emulators? because to be fair, that´s what i really want from homebrew right now.

If someone were to post the proper MD5 you could hash check it just to be sure.
Not sure why it wasn't provided in the first place...it's a common practice.
