Game Freak To Evolve Pokémon World Further In 2013

Jellicent is awesome, you just hatin' on his fuck yeah 'stache.

I'm hatin' on getting burned by a water attack used by a pokemon that is Ghost Type without good reason.

This is something I loathe about Gen IV and V in particular: unreasonable Ghost and Dark types. Like, why do some of these things need to be Ghost when nothing about them is ghostly?
this is not meant to sound like I'm saying Gen V sucks, because it has some great designs, like Vanilluxe

Can't stand Jellicent.

To repeat the words of many here already:

MMO or don't care.

I often see this, but when you play the MMO version of FR/LG you realize it's not the same thing. In paper it's nice, but all things considered the formula is not perfect for MMOs. If anything, going for a BW route where you can visit other players will probably be the way to go.

Then you change the formula. Duh.

Jellicent is ghost type because if you ever look at jellyfish in the water they look pretty ghost-like. Also, pretty much any water type can learn Scald now so you really shouldn't hold it against Jellicent. Although Jellicent could also burn you with Will-o-Wisp.

I seriously expect the 3DS Pokemon game to still be top-down, but probably with full 3D models for everything now, sort of like how Dragon Quest VII or The Denpa Men look on 3DS. Full 3D movement wouldn't work well with one analog stick anyway. It'd be nice if battles were shown in full 3D though.

Jellicent is Ghost Type and uses Scald because it's babies. Hate Jellicent forever
because it kicked my butt in an online match I was winning.

You want to talk about a cool new pokemon, we'll talk about Vanilluxe. It's an Ice Cream Cone, and is also Ice type, which makes sense. Can't stand it when Pokemon does nonsense typing.

Like why, 5 gens later, is Charizard still not Dragon type? FIX THIS MADNESS.

I don't care about the style etc but there's no way I can get on board a Pokemon until they abolish the repetitive battle system.

I love the games, they are the perfect mobile game. But do you seriously think the series is going in the right direction? The games are still fantastic because the formula itself is the digital equivalent of cocaine, but they could be made a lot better. People in this thread already mentioned the constant stripping of features from previous versions. The graphics barely changed, all things considered. Online features are good for Nintendo games, which means they're not nearly as good as they can be.

These games will be so much better if they were on an always-connected, always-with you device. Think about it - asynchronous battling and trading.

Pokemon has done an amazing job at not becoming just another fad. It does not need to be an always-in-your-face experience. I'll admit that it'll be cool in the short-term, but even fans will become tired of that over time.

maybe because Pokemon is a 2nd party IP? Nintendo can't just use it anytime they want, they'd have to get GameFreaks permission.

Besides other IP's like Kirby and Starfox didn't make the cut either.

Yea, I can imagine the accounting for that would be quite weird seeing as how it's both a pack-in and not. I can see why they would want to avoid that. Although I personally thought that the Animal Crossing minigame would've been best suited as a Pokemon one, and the dancing octopus game would've been better as an Animal Crossing one (D.J. K. K).

Wow, I was literally just getting ready to make a new thread asking if Game Freak wants to/cares to make dramatic changes to the pokemon series.

They're going to change things but its not going to be super crazy changes in terms of gameplay. They may try to change thing up in other areas though.

Move series to 3D (finally), taking advantage of the 3DS features. Keep main series on the 3DS.

MMORPG on Wii U. Includes every region up to Gen 5, Gen 6 region would be DLC. Regions are all connected (some require boat/surf routes for travel). You choose what region you get to start in, you do Gyms in any order (every Gym just gets harder in terms of Pokemon levels). You cant move into a new region until you beat the E4 in your region (and so on). All routes would be "battle zones", so if someone wants to you battle here, you can not reject it (battles is what will get you your money, money you can use for items/things for your avatar). Rare pokemon are made even more rare in order to make trading useful.

Make it happen please, I have been wanting this for so long..

The 3rd versions, remakes, and BW2 are done by a separate team so they aren't "mainline" games.

I'm pretty sure they were all GameFreak...but the point I'm trying to make is that we will probably get or at least see a new game this year somewhere.

Oh, I'm expecting Ruby/Sapphire remakes this year, but those will still be Gen V.

I really hope you're right. I think a Ruby/Sapphire remake would be a great way to test out what they want to do with the 3DS, both feature and graphics wise.

I meant that a seperate team within Gamefreak released them, which is also why a RS remake coming out this year is unlikely IMO

Pokemon not nessecarily massively multiplayer but with more modern online setting ( granted pokemon already has pretty robust online features ). I want a world where you run into other online players instead of just A.I. Trainers.

-They'll add QTE similar to RE 6,
-Zubats and Geodude wont be limited to caves but towns and Pokemon centers
-Square-Enix begged to include Lighting in the game
-Music will be done by the NSMB music talent
-Old pokemons can be unlocked through DLC

Charizard being Fire/Dragon would screw with balance horribly.

In the first place, becoming Fire/Dragon would remove his Water weakness. You don't remove the simple rock paper scissors balance from the starters.

Also, Charizard isn't Fire/Dragon because he's not really a "dragon."

Dragon type Pokemon tend to be rare and "special". If you're a Dragon type, it's making some point about the Pokemon.

It's not an either/or situation like you're making it into.

MMOs, by their very nature, go against Pokemon's mulitplayer philosophy.

I hope this means finally ditching 2D sprites. The halfway there look they got now isn't adding any charm. They should just pull the trigger.

Whatever they do, I hope the game will let you catch all Pokémon before completing the game. I respect that a lot of people like the newer generations, but the older ones are my preference and either not being able to catch them until post-game or even at all is disappointing.

The problem with that is that a new person playing through that Pokemon game for the first time would have to learn the typing of 649 new Pokemon just in the main game. Cutting down the amount of Pokemon you face during a normal playthrough makes it easier to remember specific types and pick your moves accordingly.

Basically there's just too many Pokemon for that to really work.

PC PokeBox interaction could use some work as well. It becomes extremely tedious using it especially when you have a lot of pokemon in there.

There is some real clunk in that. Plus the menus are laggy. Definately a real problem that needs fixed. I like to fly thru menus I'm familiar with.

There's also alot of redundancy.

Main story needs serious work And re haul. Needs side quests and meat after the main game. Needs highly detailed sprites with dynamic animation. Caustiously optimstic cuz ive been here since gen one and something needs to change.

Male it looks like dragon quest 8. That all Id want.

Anyone who still expects (or ever expected) an MMO is(was) delusional. Wouldn't work

Oh and remake ruby and sapphire. Best Pokemon games yet.

This is very unlikely. There's no hints or particular promotion for Hoenn Pokemon (see the Gen II Pokemon saturation in the movies both before and after HGSS launched for comparison), DS development is thoroughly dead, the RS 10th anniversary has been and gone in Japan, they're distributing the cover legendaries for free(basically the most visible selling points of any remake) and TPCi confirmed that a 3DS project was in the works which was not a remake.

No matter when it comes out, the next RPG out of Game Freak will be Gen VI, mark my words.

3D open world RPG at some point please. I find pokemon fun but eventually it just gets old since your pokemon are basically just numbers and categories with a sprite attached. I would love if there was more skill involved in terms of controlling pokemon (basically not turn based) and there was more actual interaction with the pokemon, world, and trainers around you. There should be some real adventure to go on, not just a quest to grind to level 100 over and over again.

I think people waste too much time defending why they hate or like certain designs. I personally prefer the first 2 gens and the legendaries from gen 3 (minus the regis) but that doesn't mean they are inherently better than gen 4 or 5. I'm sure there is all sorts of nostalgia involved but what it boils down to is looking at a pokemon and having a positive or negative reaction. Voltorb and Electrode? I always thought they were alright, and make sense since they could hide well in a world filled with pokeballs. Eggxecute creeped me out, and Eggxecutor pissed me off because he was so stupid looking. Chandeleur looks pretty cool I think, while the ice cream, trash bag, and kitchen appliance pokemon make me facepalm.

Can we please get a Pokemon pinball game again?

You mean another one?
