So I bought Might and Magic: Heroes VI Gold yesterday. This morning I wanted to try it out but when I start the game in steam it just turns on Uplay. That would not be a problem, if not for the fact that all my games are gone from the Uplay thing. I have put hundreds of hours into Anno 2070 but that is gone aswell.
What the heck Ubisoft???!!!

They're not gone. If you open up a UPlay game via Steam, only that single game will show up. Your UPlay library remains untouched and you won't be able to add Heroes VI to it either.

Also, is it any good -- loved the first one, especially dat music.

I for one was completely unaware of the horrible save game bugs, so in the event that you are too, here is a warning: I suggest you play the game in one sittings or do some serious google-fu on how to save-guard your auto(non)saves.

I think it actually saved my position three times across five chapters. Firing it up only to see my progress erased, AGAIN, made me see red. I eventually just paused the game instead of shutting it down*.

Sorry--I know that's in no way related to what you asked, but DAMN.

*none of the registry edits or file swapping techniques I dug up worked for me worth a damn.

Yeah, extra copies being moved to your inventory is something that happens only in cases of special promotions and is explicitly stated. E.g.:

Edit: The same applies to the Valve Complete Pack, it seems. Odd that the extra copy of Left 4 Dead apparently doesn't apply to it also.

It would've been amazing if the giftable spare copies thing had been the standard, but it seems like Valve alone flirted with the idea and promptly dropped it. I think they'd see bundle sales go way up because people would just buy that then gift all the spares to friends.

There are several packs accross all sales that I would had picked if I could gift extra copies. I think it’s money publishers are leaving on the table, especially during the holidays, as the alternative is usually me waiting to pick the games I’m interested in when they get cheaper.
Hopefully Valve economist does some studies on it that Valve can use to convince other publishers to allow for extra copies.
