I've been thinking, and maybe it's been said before: I wonder if the reason we're seeing such great delays to bringing Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing over West is because the majority of Nintendo's localization teams are putting most of their work towards translating X and Y to achieve a worldwide release. Just a thought...

Aren't most Pokemon launches spring in Japan and fall internationally, to tie into the new school year? This smells less like a rush launch for the rest of the world and more like Nintendo turning a slipped schedule into good PR.

It's usually fall in Japan and spring internationally, with a few exceptions. X and Y are the first Pokemon games to have a simultaneous worldwide release.

If there isn't an avatar version of this already, I'd like one

I saw one 15 min after it was announced.

Grass:
Turtwig > Chespin > Bulbasaur > Snivy > Treecko > Chikorita

Fire:
Cyndaquil > Fennekin > Charmander > Tepig > Torchic > Chimchar

Water:
Squirtle > Piplup > Totodile > Froakie > Mudkip > Oshawott

I = 14
II = 11
III = 6
IV = 12
V = 7
VI = 13

I > VI > IV > II > V > III

seems about right.

Man I just spotted this thread and all this news, mind's a little blown.

My starter choice will likely be swayed by the evolutions and their typing, but right now I'm leaning toward the grass chipmunk because that concept is awesome.

Wait, Grass/Steel. Would make sense if its a Hedgehog to have Metal spikes.

And there is only two other Grass/Steel pokemon

Eatchildren: the Pokemon Z starter that follows you around and recoils from Thunderstones!

Nice starters, but I'll miss sprites. Wait, no, I'll miss the potential for some well-animated sprites. :\

That would make it 4x weak against Fennekin's STAB fire moves.

Swampert was X4 weak against Spectile's STAB grass attacks and yet it was considered one of the strongest starters ever.

So what would you people like to see the new fossil Pokemon based on?

I'd like to see some stuff from the Cenozoic, we've seen enough from the Paleozoic and the Mesozoic.

How about some based on these?:

A Gomphotherium?

That would be pretty cool. We need more elephant types and that could lead to an interesting design.
