Platinum Games: Bayonetta 2 trailer was real time

Looks about like how I'd expect a rainy dragon guy to look from this gen. In any case, if the end product looks as good as 360 Bayonetta I'll be thrilled.

I suppose I wouldn't have expected it to be real-time either considering it's a game that is running at 60fps with a bunch of stuff going on. It's cool that it is though. Still kinda early in development too.

Watch platinum be like yes this is real time too:

Post 1: What how can someone think its CG

post 2: Of course its real time

post 3: Well yea ps360 can pull that off easily

Yup, pretty much.

Besides there is nothing in the background, so less stress in the console. I would be disappointed if that was CGI.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
People keep posting that rained on hairbeast gif as if its incredibly mindblowing graphics or something. I don't get it. I guess its the Wii -> WiiU only owners or something losing their minds?

Hopefully Bayo2 has a fair jump in scale and cleaner IQ as expected of a direct sequel on 1.5x better hardware.

Well it definitely is better since I don't remember the summoned monsters getting shiny in rain for the first game.

That glossy specular lighting thing that a lot of games from this gen do has always looked a little cheap to me personally. I agree though, I'm sure the game itself will look great when it comes out.

EDIT: Actually I don't know if that's really a specular lighting thing now that I'm playing with google images. You know what I mean though.

Guys

It's just a small clip; it's 80-90% dark, you can't see shit; I don't know if it's bad or good

This is getting silly

I want to see if someone can walk like that in real life?

And I think that's CGI (have no idea just guessing)

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.

I'd take a stable fps over any of those two. Bayo was all over the place on the ps3.

Well I think the issue is, even if you don't believe it's pretty good looking I doubt you could show me a console gif that matched it running at 60fps. I mean I can post lots of PC gifs that easily do, but show me a console gif running at 60 fps that matches it.

Why does it feel like a lot of Wii U games have that 'made of plastic' shiny highlighting (specular?) that lots of early 360 games had?

Is it a 'free' effect on the GPU or something?

I guess that I should have realized that it's mo-capped but I just noticed for the first time that Bayonetta almost loses her balance in that gif.

Specular maps depend on memory I believe (which the Wii U has plenty of versus the current gen systems).

You also need a capable GPU to calculate each spec value in real time.

I mean it looks nice but I saw stuff like that with lower IQ a few gens ago.
Not much can be taken from it. Its really nothing atm; just signs of a game taking shape.

I have no idea how anyone can be positive or negative about the visuals of that.
Its just an in-engine dark image thats on screen for a fleeting moment.

Its really not an important image; just a sign of development taking place.

It's strange to see so many people misunderstand this.

You don't need to hire some fancy CGI company, you just need to load the scene and animation into your animation program, set the resolution and effects (anti-aliasing, etc) and click "render to animation"; there you have it, pre-rendered CG. Pre-rendered doesn't mean 10x as many polygons as the system can handle.

The main thing here, which could be construed from other parts of the trailer, is that they have the engine up and running on the Wii U and could show footage if they so wished (and they have).

There was nothing in the trailer that led me to believe otherwise. Looks about what I expect from a current gen platform.

Looks good and fluid, but it doesn't s really look that more impressive than the original.

Too dark and grimy. Slick textures like those are going to make anything look good in that context. Not much to go by really.

PS3 version by any chance?

"was assumed to be CGI and not real-time graphics"

By who? It was clear as water that it was real time lol

more like, that "one second scene you probably missed because you blinked is real time"

This.

Who the buggering hell thought Platinum would contract a CGI studio to create and render a monster that is shown for less than a second lol

Well, yes? WTF, Platinum. It doesn't look that good.

looked real-time to me. did they really need to confirm that?

Did they really need to confirm that? Looks like some generic ue3 wet effect you would find in any game since dark sector.

Perhaps the Wii crowd is not used to seeing things this shiny.

How can anyway say that looks like CGI lol. It looks good but not good enough for CGI. It just seems really dark so it is hard to make out the actual graphical fidelity.

Neither games will stand chance especially since Watch Dogs and Star Wars 1313 both look better and they are rumoured to be only launch games for next gen. I think it is weird how many nintendo fans are focusing on graphics now. I feel that the charm of nintendo games was never from the graphics but from how they played.

yeah why not... I can see Ps3/360 doing this easily.

Erm...it looks horrible. Who really thought that was CGI?
The animation looks really stiff too.

Looked real-time anyway lol

Wait, prople thought it wasn't all realtime?

I don't see anything special in the gif. I have to be surprised or something?

WiiU: Damned if you do, Damned if you dont.

Wii U threads are damn near unbearable to read now with the "current gen/next-gen" graphics competition nonsense.

This post wins the thread(we love to talk competition).

Labels are stupid.

I don't care if it other systems could have technically done this or if it's """""""""""""next generation"""""""""", that does nothing for me.

What does if it looks promising visually or not and my answer is "yep".

Better than the visual sneekpeek even though is that they are really pushing the system and ramping up the scale.

Very small chance this game will disappoint.
