Halo |OT14| They call it Halo

I'm sure MS has something Halo planned, and we still have the TU. Still don't have all that info on it. You never know, they may actually fix the DMR.

Hopefully. Sorting out your games respawn timer four months after launch and describing it as 'big ticket' does not fill me with excitement for it.

it's so so so so so so funny to me that bungie is making a multiplayer first person shooter that is going to compete directly against Halo

anyway I bought destinygaf.com PM me if you want in on a front page interview so you can accumulate cred before the OT even exists

Crap I had almost forgotten to check Halogaf OT. Can we convert it to the BungieGaf OT? It would probably help me to remember to check it once in awhile. lol

Let's do the Halo Reach method.

HaloGAF |OT1| bitches and prose
Halo |OT15| Et TU, Brute?
BungieGAF |OT1| Tiger Stripes and Activision Gripes
Destiny |OT1| Per Audacia Ad Astra
DestinyGAF |OT1| motherfucking quad wielding
343 Industries |OT1| Well, to be Frank...

per aspera ad astra and per audacia ad astra are really beautiful epitaphs, but now that they've been associated with Kansas license plates and Activision it kinda ruins it for me

I asked this before, but really early in the morning and didn't get a response, so I'll ask one more time. Is there anyone with a capture willing and able to capture screenshots that are in my Halo 3 fileshare?

How urgently?. Iv got a black magic but its not set up currently. It will be soon enough if you can wait. Iv been putting it off but My setup is pretty stable for now and I don't expect it to change much so ill have to set it up soon.

Juices, Tashi and Kyle all have decent recording setups right now and are good peoples maybe one of them will if you need it quick.

You could always use The Halo 3 Screenshot Extractor aswell

They have to listen to their customers.

I really believe that Halo needs to be reinvented. I think the big problem with Halo right now is that old formula. Its gotten stale and most people have trouble accepting that. Im positive that Bungie wanted to somewhat make Halo into Destiny, and MS wouldn't let them cause it was too big a risk not to mention how people react to every little change to it in general.

Halo unfortunately is stuck in gaming limbo. You cant change it, and you cant keep it as is. But make an amazing game that blows me away.

Thinking about Destiny and world building, Halo 4 completely fails to make the world it created matter. Just a backdrop, instead of being a supplementary aspect.

Rail hog honestly sounds ten times better than the Guass hog.

I think it would offer some interesting options for rebalancing that portion of the vehicle sandbox, wrapped up in a fictional technological evolution. Everyone wins.

(I think functionally, keeping it like the gauss hog is fine. The change should be its firing method--like the railgun, you could fire more rapidly at the cost of stopping power; charging up enough to 1HK someone would fire slower than the current iteration can. That, combined with a decrease in the velocity, would address most of my problems with it, although others' mileage may vary.)

Does anyone else get the feels that Destiny is going to be a lot like an open world Borderlands that allows players to drop in and drop out?

Sounds like a good game in principle to me. I like Borderlands on its own merits but I think Bungie "dat skybox" Inc. could deliver a game more in my vein... also the kind of humor that wouldn't be the defining force of the universe.

I don't expect Destiny to be anything like Halo. I do expect it to be much better than Halo 4.

RIP Halo.

Hello Destiny.

Halo|OT 15| Halo meet your Destiny

I have a feeling it'll be Borderlands meets Planetside 2 with pinches of Marathon and Shadowrun, not to mention the obvious Halo/Call of Duty parallels.

This is what I hope we get.

Halo esq controls with Borderlands PvE and Planetside PvP. Mission that push players along a story revealing the mystery.

According to their promo material - which has already been shipped to stores - as of this Sunday you can preorder the game. I would assume we'll get something with a bit of meat.

What an advantage for them it would be if they were to show the next gen version off on sunday.

Requiem is going to blow up Death Star style in the finale of Spartan Ops.

Really though.

It will.

Found this amusing

I don't want to go back there. Give me more alien places to explore.

Also, bring back space politics.

Spartan Ops gave us some locations cooler than the campaign. I'd love to be given a game that allows for more exploration of any of the Forerunner installations.

I'm guessing David Ellis was saddened by the fact that Promethean units didn't stick to their clever chess motif so he kept it prominent in Spartan Ops. Granted, I can't make exact parallels, but:

Lasky is the King of one side. He doesn't come into play until end-game and stays pretty static up until the end game. He also very clearly wants to defend his notable pawn Halsey.

Crimson Squad is a Knight, taking unconventional but repetitive paths to take out stragglers and occasionally bigger targets.

Palmer is a Rook: a heavy unit that doesn't really shine until later on into the match because it can be used as a fearful mindgame and doesn't mind the loss of a mere Pawn.

Jul ''Mdama is also, surprisingly, a Pawn. He faced Halsey on numerous occasions, representing the opening of the match. On the proverbial board, they ended up on squares right next to one another, and both have a similar goal - getting to the end of either side's board to revive a stronger piece. Note that two pawns face-to-face result in a stalemate and cannot "jump" one another; Halsey's apparent "plot armor" isn't broken by Jul or even his Elites, but instead by Palmer.

Halsey got to the end of the board first and, Season One's ending permitting, will likely become a Queen.

Jul looks to do the same, trying to "'make these gifts on our own" (rebuilding his army) or arguably reviving his King, the Didact.

The two players on either side represent the Librarian and arguably humanity or ONI.

True. I just hope we get to explore more of the universe with new worlds, enemies, allies, side stories and more. It's a huge departure, but also feels familiar and actually grow the franchise.
