Halo |OT14| They call it Halo

So I'm playing Episode 8, Ch 5 of SpOps. I finished everything, but when I went to the pelican at the end, it gave me the option to ride in the pelican like any other vehicle. So I thought this was what you were supposed to do, but apparently not since I'm now stuck in the pelican! Any help? I cannot kill myself or get out, and I'd rather not start over.

Thanks.

Anyone? This is really frustrating.

Thanks man, we definitely learned a lot as we went a long.

Regarding the LIVE thing. That's the way we were able to avoid charging outright for Spartan Ops. That portion of the game came via a separate P&L. I actually thought it was a good compromise, but understand your point.
I'm curious, is there any chance that in the future, players could play Spartan Ops when their network is set to System Link to avoid input lag? My roommate and I both have Live Gold and are signed in the entire time, but setting it to anything other than Live in Halo 4's menu kicks us out and grays out the option to play.

I hope you guys get to do a second season. The bump up in quality of Season 1's second half is pretty remarkable, and with some more time it could really come into its own.

Thinks the Evil Empire is just misunderstood.
With Spartan Ops, we originally had a system in place where you had a shared pool of lives, but would earn more lives after completing objectives.

Unfortunately that was cut for a variety of reasons and we went with unlimited lives as it was the most obvious way of designing around the asshole conundrum of online gaming.

Well I can understand why you guys did it to in that case.

:(

I can see the unlimited lives being a good solution in matchmaking but in pre-made group...

Do you have the logo resource?

Well shit. Tomorrow is the last day of "unemployment" for me before starting up a four month guaranteed contract. And Throwdown is released tomorrow. Looks like I'll be putting the Halo 4 disc back into the Xbox for the first time since before Christmas.

Unlimited lives also makes solo playing somewhat bearable. Without scaling the amount of enemies to match the amount of players Spartan Ops on Legendary would be virtually impossible as a solo player (ie: playing through old episodes/chapers).

Throwdown settings sound pretty decent. I'm excited to play a version of Extraction with good settings since I didn't much care for the default stuff in Crimson. I think first to 5 captures on CTF Adrift is a mistake though unless the updated variant plays radically differently than the default variant does.

Since I'm shameless and hit the end of the last page, here's a repost:

I'm not really a fan of them on paper but won't makea final decision until I've played it myself.

I'm a fan of them on paper, I just dunno how they'll play. Gimping the DMR users to compensate for their generally better starting weapon is an interesting choice. At least for me it'll make sure I go with another loadout (I love me some dexterity.)

Definitely would love the System Link option too.

If Spartan Ops continues on, I hope you and the team can figure a way around that issue. It would be much more satisfying if lives were limited (or if there were a checkpoint system like campaign). And definitely being able to scale the enemy count would be nice. Playing Spartan Ops alone, which I sometimes want to do with my games, is less than stellar experience.

Not a fan of class based gametypes in Halo - in my opinion this is a big reason long time gamers left the series - but the only way to show this is to play Throwdown and never vote for "Deluxe."

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)

thats how i feel too. i like what 4 offers with not-perks, AA's and loadouts, just the balance needs work. this looks like a good attempt at keeping halo 4 halo 4, but offering up more real choices rather then DMR.

of course, it may not work out - but i'm excited to try it.

Real talk, that's actually my biggest regret for this season of SpOps.

Adding on to this, scaling based on number of players would be nice. Limited lives solo would be almost impossible on certain levels. Even if it just meant adding more weapons or marines (or even spawning 3 other randomized Spartans with average health and Spartan-class AI) it'd be a start.

Deluxe settings make me scratch my head. Awareness armor mod on one of them? I thought there was no radar at all. But hey, it's a test playlist so let's test and give feedback.

Yeah, not to beat this drum again, but enemy scaling was a casualty of production realities as well. Though, there are several missions that alter the number/frequency of enemy spawns based on difficulty and player count.

I should know since I scripted it myself. :)

Try number 1.

Will try something else too, hard to point a good logo resource. I can't really rip the logo from other pics, never getting the magic wand working right.
Using Paint.net. My skills are limited to copy-pasting and resizing things, along with other small things.

EDIT looks uglier than i thought. Should've tweaked the logo's color i think.
EDIT Need to completly rethink how to do this... maybe logo on backround with the helmet over it? Need the mere helmet pic... maybe...

EDIT gave up. That's all you're going to get from me for now. Maybe tomorrow...

Maybe the radar only activates in scope...?

Another hypothetical, if you're allowed to answer it - asset reuse and budget aside, how vehement is 343 bent on keeping the character design the same for future projects? We saw some radical changes between Bungie's games - compare Elites, for example - but we still don't know what's in store for Halo 5. Could a Promethean Knight look vastly different in future games compared to our interpretation now?

Real talk, that's actually my biggest regret for this season of SpOps.

Please use my idea for spartan ops. Spartan ops should be something like a Phantasy Star Online run. Get a group of friends to make a run at different stages with options of difficulty. There should be one long path way with lot of different areas and different creatures to fight in each area. Each player should have a limited number of life's and there should be a boss battle at the end of each run. To promote players from using up lives no credits should be awarded unless the boss at the end of the run is defeated. Credits should be awarded for each enemy the player helps to kill and more credits added for who gets the final shot to kill the enemy's. This would due away with AFK players trying to rack up credits. There should be mission difficulties that are almost impossible to beat. This would really promote players to strive for something for bragging rights other then a skill rank. The mission could reward players with random drops after beating the final boss. Some drops could be very rare armor armor skins ect....

True that, in just a few months well have real playlist and the game will be out of beta.

When they aren't blocked, you can usually end up flying them which is really fun with some friends. I've never had the issue of getting locked into it though?
It's not even a third person view like that. I'm literally inside of it and I can walk around, or I can press RB to sit. Kind of cool, but irritating that I had to start over.

Random thought while watching this tourney stream - what if instant respawn put you back in without shields? You could either wait the ~5 seconds and spawn with full shields, or mash x and spawn with no shields.

Not saying I like instant respawn - but this would at least make it a risk/reward scenario.

I wish Damage Boost + Scoped Light Rifle was a two shot kill.

Damage Boost + Incineration Cannon = more range in one shot than the DMR's field of aim assist

Oh no, thats me flying the pelican from a glitch with sitting in the seats. I think I understand what you mean though, you got in the seat of the pelican, but when you get out of it, you are in the cockpit of the pelican, and cant get out, and sense you have no grenades, you are stuck and cant die.

If the pelican has a cannon ontop, try getting into that, and then getting out of it. if it does, you can get out.
