First Look at the New Spider-Man Costume

Am I the only one who thinks it might not be real? It's exactly like the Raimi suit but with better eyes. Seems like a fan's mock-up; which we would all love to see, probably. But there's something off...

If they make the eyes emote, it would be like them completing accepting just how much of a fuck up their 'realistic' take was with the first movie.

Not that I have anything against that. It would be great to have a more cartoony Spider-Man film.
Maybe they could make the lenses move about using the old Green Goblin mask tech that never came to be. Simple up and down when he raises his brow, etc.

I'd really hate them emoting them, though. Seriously. :lol

Webb already confirmed the costume would be redesigned, most notably featuring bigger eyes, so I'm not so sure about that.
Yeah, there's no way this is fake (for better or worse) since the officially released promo/viral vid a few weeks ago had a hidden frame or two of the new lenses, and they look just like these. Here's the still;

Wow looks great! I am curious how the rest of the suit will look, but looks like its going somewhat back to the raimi suits.

I'm sure it's just my '90s nostalgia, but this is my favourite Spidey costume of all time.
Fuck y'all, Ben Reilly ftw.

What I meant was textures, materials, etc. All that can be fiddled and altered with while still retaining the iconic suit. That hexagonal cloth texture or whatever is not part of an iconic anything.

Neither was the basketball material.

It just made the suit always look too dark and/or dirty.

The new costume looks like it's embellishing what Bagley and Bendis did with the Ultimate Spider-Man suit (particularly with the shape of the eyes). I am okay with this.

The image is telling. Firstly, it shows partially what direction they could be taking the movie in. The first promo for the amazing spiderman was dark. This might bode well. Also, i think the spiderman symbol is longer than its showing on the bottom. It looks like it has that natural progression.

And no belt has to stay. The belt in the spiderman game is atrocious.

reminds me of Bagley's run in Amazing Spider-Man from the 90's. my favorite rendition of Spider-Man. Solid art. Didn't like his new looser style in the Ultimate run.

Just goes to show how spot-on Raimi was at his first go. Hopefully now most people realize how horrible that suit looked in ASM.

It's ridiculous the films gloss over how Peter makes his costume, especially when you consider that the suit from the Raimi films cost about $100,000 to make.

yeah, it was literally just a cut to the next scene and he was swingin around in it, no explanation. not even a bullshit reason like he made it or broke into Oscorp and made it there or something, he just has it.

The ASM costume looked a lot better on film. The black eyes surprisingly worked well with the night time scenes

yeah in the movie, you never noticed the yellow eyes really, they always looked mirrored or silver.

looking at the new costume more, there should have been more of a transitional design between the two. this one is a very abrupt change and is way to similar to the Raimi suit.

it looks like Raimis suit but super high tech.

the raised webbing was not needed, and the spider logo on the chest from the first one was way cooler. and i didnt mind the pockets of blue over the red on the arms and hands of the first suit either, it thought it looked kinda cool.

this just makes everyone ask why they needed to redesign him so much in the first place if they were just gonna cop out on the sequel.

maybe its a New Coke situation, 'hey look how much better the new suit is compared to that old weird one! THIS MOVIE WILL BE BETTER WE PROMISE PLEASE GIVE US MONEY 90S KIDS!'

Vast improvement over the first take.

My question is the webbing black or silver. The mask part looks black, but the suit and spider definitely look more silver, a la the Raimi suit.

You know the more I think about it, the better the movie could be as a result of making the eyes emote. I think it would help Spidey to have more of a human element if they did so. I mean it wouldn't have to be much, but just enough to avoid the emotional disconnect there tends to be from Peter when he puts on the mask. Because making the eyes emote too much would be distracting.

Not only is it a huge step up from the previously hideous one, it's arguably the best suit yet. They finally got the eyes right!

But if ASM is anything to go by, it's going to be attached to another awful film. Sigh

Look hilariously cartoonish there. Can't wait to see what it'll look like on-screen to properly judge.

That said, the spider symbol is fucked up. It's just too low. I don't even know how it'll fit into the close up/chest shots of spidey.

If we're talking things that look like something a teenager would throw together in his room

Honestly I would have loved to see him go from that, to this:

To the classic costume in a third film.

Yeeeesss Scarlet Spider best Spider. The new one is okay to me too.

Carnage for the villain.

I love the costume so far, seems to blend it a little bit with the one from ASM. I like the spider logo on the front still.

From Twitter the movie:

"So apparently Spidey is chasing a thief dressed in an unrefined Spidey costume. Therefore what I thought was a handkerchief...was a mask."

Losing faith in this suit, just look at that glove. It's like its from a pajamas getup or something. /overreaction

Wait, what? Guess that makes some more sense.
