The PP-trailer seems e.g. to allude to events on Cyprus 1974, the conflict between Greece and Turkey (two NATO countries, both armed with US weapons). In the same year, 1974, U.S. President Nixon fought his own battle: to survive the Watergate scandal. In the midst of the ’74 Cyprus conflict, President Nixon lost his battle: he resigned on August 8, 1974.


Maybe ‘Watergate/Nixon’ in some way will be part of MGS GZ/PP.

(1) It fits within the timeline (’74 Cyprus); and (2) we know that Kojima is fully aware of Nixon’s downfall over Watergate: Watergate was explicitly mentioned in Metal Gear Solid, where Snake gets instructions from “Deepthroat” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZTivZIgdfM.

(3) We also know of the “Nixon-Pappas connection”. The Greek American Pappas was close to the colonels of the military junta who ran Greece, also at the outbreak of the ’74 Cyprus conflict. (4) We further have a Kojima allusion to a famous reaction of President Nixon, related to Watergate. As we know, Kenneth H. Dahlberg is one of the most crucial names in the investigation by Washington Post reporters Woodward and Bernstein into Watergate; in some way he ultimately brings Nixon down. Here is part of the transcript of a recording of a meeting between President Nixon and H.R. Kenneth H. Dahlberg was a war hero (Second World War) and received the Distinguished Service Cross from Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey in 1967 (see the picture), after learning that he had been awarded it in 1945 but had never collected it.

We now also can answer Hideo’s question: “Who the hell is he”? Let Big Boss answer: “You say: A war hero..? Receiving the Distinguished Service Cross….? At a White House ceremony……!? C’mon, you gotta be kiddin’, you know your MGS 3 and PW’s!

(5) The Moby Dick origins of the PP trailer led us to Capt. Ahab, a whale hunting Quaker with Nantucket roots. Now, Richard Nixon has a Quaker background and is related to Nantucket whale hunters, http://www.americanancestors.org/nantucket_figures, like in Moby Dick (‘Dick’, incidentally, being short for Richard (Nixon); he was later also known as “Tricky Dick”. Trickery, of course, is a major theme concerning the PP trailer…

(6) Nixon had four brothers: Harold (1909–33), Donald (1914–87), Arthur (1918–25), and Edward (born 1930). Four of the five Nixon boys were named after kings who had ruled in historical or legendary England; Richard, for example, was named after Richard the Lionheart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Nixon). Fits nicely in the MGS universe. The Patriot’s AI in MGS 4 were named after four U.S. Presidents, and in PW, Dr. Strangelove wanted to name the AI after four English Queens (…of course…).

(8) Even Richard Nixon’s namesake, Richard the Lionheart, is connected to the PP trailer (Cyprus, Saladin and a massacre of defenseless prisoners). In fact, in 1191 Richard the Lionheart conquered the whole island of Cyprus, married in Limassol, Cyprus, and was crowned King of Cyprus. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_I_of_England). In the Third Crusade he scored various victories against his counterpart Saladin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_I_of_England ). Richard, equally martial and brave, carried with him more of the barbarian character; and was guilty of acts of ferocity, which threw a stain on his celebrated victories". (9) Further, the beginning of the downfall of the ‘crews’ in Moby Dick and of the White House relates to a somewhat similar location. In Moby-Dick, Ishmael joins up with crewmates in the Spouter Inn. The inn-keeper is called Mr. Coffin, foreshadowing things to come: when Ishmael saw a swinging sign over the door with a white painting upon it, faintly representing a tall straight jet of misty spray and these words underneath it ‘The Spouter Inn:—Peter Coffin.’, he noted: Coffin?—Spouter?—Rather ominous in that particular connexion" (ch 2). The downfall of Nixon, of course, starts at the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee, then located on the sixth floor of the Watergate Hotel and Office Building.

(10) Ahab in Moby-Dick is obsessed with killing the Whale. On the second day of the chase, Stubs screams to the Whale (ch. 134): “Ahab will dam off your blood, as a miller shuts his watergate upon the stream!”. Nixon may have been obsessed with, inter alia, the leaks from government (e.g. the leaks by Ellsberg of the Pentagon papers): hence his own ‘plumbers’ to ‘dam off’ the leaks…like a miller shutting his watergate…

And oh yeah, the logo the uploader uses, is a SWEDISH flag: remember Moby Dick Studio has a SWEDISH website, and Ken Dahlberg – Hideo alluded to him with his tweet “who the hell is he?” – is a SWEDISH surname (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahlberg, where even Kenneth H. Dahlberg is mentioned). The Swedish flag may here in a way be what Ken Dahlberg was to the Watergate investigation by Woodward/Bernstein: linking ‘low-profile burglars’/an unknown site, to the highest BOSS in the land: Hideo Kojima.

Too much coincidence for me…The easy counter-claim is “it’s fake”, or “the only official communication is via the Swedish PP-site and associated YT channel”, but remember: from what we know all relevant parts were uploaded way before the PP-trailer; and I see no clear indication that it is somehow fake. Remember also: “Tricky Dick” Kojima is a trolling GENIUS. The PP trailer says: OPEN YOUR EYES. ALREADY. I don’t exclude that apart from the ‘official’ site, other info ALREADY is ‘leaked’ (on purpose by Kojima) onto the Internet, and that he is asking us to OPEN OUR EYES for it and to play the role of Woodward and Bernstein to find info linked to him (connecting apparent third rate sources with Kojima himself…Kojima in the meanwhile denying or giving ‘non-denial denials’, as the White House did in Watergate).

In short, I think that all the above uploads are MGS PP/GZ related, Watergate included: ‘Watergate’ may be in some way part of MGS GZ/PP.

Maybe even the titles of the different parts of the Watergate documentaries are connected to different parts of the MGS GZ/PP game and/or the trailers we have seen and may be upcoming:

3 Scapegoat

Look also at the linked video: a bearded “man, strong, virile”…who points at 0:11-0:12 and at 0:50-0:51 to the letters B B…, and if I hear it correctly…“he knows not what sequence is..” (remember the random sequence of the PP trailer)


So, apart from the references/allusions to Watergate/Nixon (above 1-10), we have two different sites containing uploads on Watergate and uploads holding perhaps a lot of references to PP, mostly (what we know) uploaded way before the PP trailer. May be faked or coincidence, but all in all to much coincidence for me.... As I said, I don’t exclude that Kojima has ALREADY uploaded more videos, has more sites active/sleeping (FIVE?) and info somewhere on the Internet. I don’t exclude he’s trolling here with us and lets us play Woodward and Bernstein, who need to answer the question “How high up” does it go.
"Just" follow the money (his leads…)

As crazy as it sounds, it certainly seems to be legit in some regard at least.

Wonder if the game makes it to E3 or we wait until TGS.

The themes of the movies they represent certainly match Kojima's games. Though technically the roles in the image are not the ones from the Patriot/President/Peacemaker.

Though it could still very well be the implication.

I just beat Rising. Unless I misread or misunderstood, Monsoon seems to have mentioned "Phntm Pain" right before his boss fight. "Phntm" as in "Phantom" without the vowels. Has anybody picked up on this ?

Unrelated, I'm afraid. I think you're talking about when he mentioned "Phnom Penh", the capital of Cambodia. The man is Cambodian if I'm not mistaken, he makes some allusions to the Vietnam War and the Khmer Rouge regime.

Some of you are highly critical ('nonsense', 'time to walk away'), others view some hints as may be legit. Don't get me wrong, I think some of your evidence is a bit far reaching, but the idea that Nixon/Watergate is somehow tied into the plot isn't at all unlikely I think. I wouldn't be surprised if it were true.
