This is how the hierarchy is SE goes:
Nomura>>>>>>>>>>>>>everyone else
Seriously though it seems square will do whatever he says.
Also its not his preference thats relevant but the fact that pretty much all his games have been exclusive to one platform when they have released.
If this was true then Versus and such would've been out a long time ago.
It's not even about the story, just the production values make BBS and DDD mainline titles.
Hell yeah.Any fans of the GBA CoM here?
It's the one I finished, so yeah. Me.
I got about halfway through Re:CoM before I realized I wasn't interested in playing through all over again lol.
Wow, so they actually re-recorded 66 tracks with live instruments.
S-E proves again that they know how to handle remakes/remasters. I cannot wait to see how they handle FFX, I hope they re-recorded some of the music too!
CoM does have some lovely sprite artwork. Was it done by the same artists who did the sprites for TWEWY, do we know?

Yeah, after seeing how they handled this, I'm hopeful that FFX HD will turn out just as well.
Ah yes. Awesome. The same devs who worked on TWEWY are the ones who made CoM, Jupiter.
Ah yes. Awesome.
I'll be bummed if Jupiter's next game isn't sprite-based, honestly.
I'm hoping it's a 3DS TWEWY sequel... it's fun to dream sometimes.
BBS and DDD are both mainline titles regardless of not having a number. *sigh*

Seems a bit of an oxymoron. Why can't we call CoM or Days a "mainline" title while we're at it. People calling BBS and DDD "mainline" have already stripped that word of any objective meaning.
BBS and DDD feature new worlds, new enemies, and introduce elements relevant to the entire series plot rather than just setting up for the next game. CoM, Re:Coded, and Days revist old worlds and only feature elements related to KH2. It's not hard to see how they're mainline games.
"Mainline"
The definition is in the word.
The main line of the Xehanort plot heavily involves BBS and DDD. None of the side games factor into it as heavily as those two do.
So what?
I'm just going to leave here my experience with 358/2 Days, the first time I played it:

Why do people keep bring up this point? I'm genuinely curious. I think what platform he prefers to work on is irrelevant.
I didn't say 'what platform' he prefers, just that he prefers tailoring one game to a specific platform. The history of every Kingdom Hearts release is pretty evident of that, as is the fact that Versus was still dragged along as a PS3 exclusive despite the main series going multiplatform.
Could that change? Sure. Despite his big project being in limbo while a trilogy of XIII is released, I'd say Noruma still has a very high status at Square. I doubt the want to start forcing him to make games with more than multiple platforms in mind. If he decides to do that himself, then fine. Otherwise I don't think a multiplat release will happen, especially not by his team.
So the games which heavily involve Xehanort or any of his alter egos are mainline games.
CoM didn't feature Ansem until Riku's short campaign and he wasn't involved with the plot there at all. Xemnas had maybe 2 speaking lines in Days and had no involvement in the story there. Coded didn't even feature any of them.
BBS was all about Xehanort, DDD was all about 13 Xehanorts.
Are you talking about just consoles? Are you talking about only numbered titles? You're being very vague personally. The KH franchise has been all over the place and while it may be safe to assume that it'll be exclusively on a Sony console you never know what might happen. Times have greatly changed and I think Nomura's preferences or what he preferences to tailor in regards to platform is going to be highly irrelevant. Unless it's limited by technical limitations.
Honestly how is DDD any different to CoM? DDD's main plot element really come in the last 20 minutes of the game, till then the story is non-existent at best. Even at that the game pretty much only sets up what Kh3 should be about. It links KH2 and KH3. In fact I'd argue CoM is more important story-wise as it pretty much introduces a concept that is prevelant in all subsequent games (Nobodies), hints at Roxas, and directly sets up KH2 by putting Sora to sleep.

Having played Kh2 without even knowing CoM existed I can tell you I was pretty damn confused as to what was happening given the KH1 one ending. It doesn't really tread any new ground, and the story's presented in such a way that you could just as easily skip it. The immediate plot just consists of a bunch of retreads of KH1's worlds and story and KH2 gives you a passable primer on Namine and the nobodies, it doesn't really add anything to the main plotline (though you could certainly argue that there really wasn't one at the time) and only serves to setup KH2.
DDD's main plot element is the constant presence of Xehanort. Young Xehanort and all his alter egos are all over the place, running amok and constantly reminding everyone that there's no such thing as death until the final confrontation that he's been staging the whole time. It's no different from KH1 or BBS which had a loose thread until the ending, where Xehanort makes himself the mastermind. Not to mention all the areas you go to in the game are brand new outside of the first three districts of Traverse Town.
Just went through all of 358/2 Days. Gotta say it was nice to see it updated, but damn it just re-affirms my displeasure with so much of it. That image above should be changed to 95% ice cream eating. At least it has some good scenes and an emotional finish.
how much of the scenes are fully voiced?
Look what just showed up. ...and I don't know ANY Japanese.

I've just finished Agrabah, how far am I till the end? I want to finish it in under 15 hours. Also what parts are optional?

I believe you can do either Halloween Town or Atlantica but don't have to do both. HT would probably work out better.
You have like a few more worlds to go.
You can skip Monstro (next world for you). Just port out at the savepoint. You can also skip either Atlantica or Halloween Town (the next worlds after monstro). I would suggest doing Halloween Town. Halloween Town is to the top and Atlantica to the bottom in the map.
You are maybe around halfway point?
I hope both KH2 and BBS get the same treatment. Just KH2 would be a big boon alone.
That'd be crazy if they did.
Since we're on music, whats that one song from KH2 that always played whenever the car heartless come out?
3 hour "movie" so its fully voiced.
