Strawman arguments never solve anything.
Because of DayZ ARMA 3 is quite well known now in the PC shooter world.

You're the one with the abrasive and attacking writing style not me, i.e. "boohoo". What I say is supported by sales figures and PC usage scenarios.
The key to sales is ease of use. PC is not easy to use and will never be easy to use unless you can buy one that directly boots to Steam, comes with a controller, NEVER requires dropping back to windows or any other input method (motion games notwithstanding), and all games (except motion) can work with a controller.
Play something more than 3 people know about like COD or Battlefield and let's see how you fare.
What drugs are you on? People have been playing ARMA 3 competitively since the Alpha launched.
I didn't say M/KB wasn't better I just said the idea that M/KB completely dominates the controller is overblown, I've played plenty on multiplayer games with a controller and felt completely competent with it compared to the competition.
Compare the sales of the previous installments, and I guaran-fucking-tee that Battlefield PC and COD PC versions outsell it 10:1 at least. How do you compare sales of a game that hasn't even come out yet and is only on a single platform to Battlefield and CoD?

I know that literally speaking competitively means against other people, however when you say you play competitively in a game context, you mean in the competitive scene. Clans, tournaments, clan wars, etc. There is no competitive scene for a game which only has an alpha, released less then a month ago...
And yes, the M/KB completely dominates the controller, the problem with your assumption that since you felt competent with it disproves anything, is that you seem to forget that plenty of people actually suck with a M/KB.
A KB/M player will always dominate another player at the same level with a controller.
is that you seem to forget that plenty of people actually suck with a M/KB.
You must be trolling aren't you?
You do realize battlefield is a common term and all references to the word battlefield and included in google fights right?
Where is the logical fallacy? Arma is a small niche game with a shoestring budget, plain and simple. Far more people play BF3 or even COD on PC, that cannot be debated. Let's see you join a MP game in BF3 with a controller and get owned. Bigger userbase means coming across more people who are your skill level or better so you'd get owned far more often in a game like Battlefield or COD over Arma. And? That's a logical fallacy to the point you're trying to make.
It's funny how you continue to talk about ARMA 3 when you clearly have no idea or experience with it at all. ARMA has plenty of clans that moved over from ARMA 2 into the ARMA 3 Alpha.
No your personal experience is just that, personal experience.Actually yes my personal experience does disprove it for me as that's all it means when it comes down to it.
I have to say, it honestly sounds like you don't know the first thing about gaming on a PC. Especially since you're going on about anomaly games rather than the more or less consistent trend for PC games to have controller support.
So, I'm out of this thread. Keep pissing off the one guy who feels like responding to your posts.
Hoo-doo said:I don't get the hostility from the PC crowd on anything related to consoles.
Are you trolling? The search was for "battlefield 3"

You do understand what that image was from and how search engines work right?
Thanks for proving my point.
He said only three people have heard of the game out of jest and now he is trying to defend that, the fact that ARMA 3 Alpha is that high on Steam shows otherwise.
You do understand that when you search for something within quotes it searches for the whole phrase right? "battlefield" alone won't be registered. How many references for "battlefield 3" do you think there are outside of the game?
It's a good thing you know how search engines work huh?
And my image is from steam stats... so yeah...
Yeah, that's not being high on steam... at all...
It is for a niche FPS in Alpha.
Not really no. Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is above it for crying out loud.
The gap between Arma and COD/BF is so large that it's ok to use the term "no one has heard of it". When your userbase is in the tens of thousands, that's nothing when other games are in the multi-millions. With such a difference in userbase, saying "no one has heard of it" is appropriate in context, because a few thousand people are "no one" compared to millions. It's called a Strawman argument look it up, you're trying to say no one has heard of the game because it hasn't sold as much as CoD or Battlefield.
A search engine not only searches your phrase but combinations of your phrase and usage of the phrases in content found.
It is for a niche FPS in Alpha.
May I ask why you are ignoring the other widely popular FPS games on that list?
I mean, when I think about "competitive FPS", ARMA is no-where on my mind, personally. And I fucking love those games.
I'd honestly like to see you compete with a controller in let's say, Battlefield, Counter-Strike or Call of Duty though.
Except it is.
Mouse is off limits for couch gaming, and so is a keyboard.
How do you enter your name on Skyrim with a controller? And Fifa 13 working well with a controller must be the reason huge threads like these exist. Blame the Fifa problem on EA all you want but the console versions don't have these issues.
Let's compare it's sales figures with COD or Battlefield. You don't see commercials for Arma on TV or even on gaming networks like G4TV.
You somehow think this changes what I said? Pretty much anything you search on Google Gights has disparities with the actual search numbers on Google itself.
Dude, use your damn head for a moment. Searching for "battlefield 3" within quotes searches for exactly that, "battlefield 3", nothing more. That's what the quotes are for. How many references for "battlefield 3" do you think it exists on the web that aren't directly referring tot he game? The differences in google fights is insignificant.
Jesus, you're one of the most thick headed people I met on gaf.
Now that is a strawman if I ever saw one.
No on both counts. It can not. I am speaking from experience...I wish it could be used fine, but it really isn't because I really wanted to play torchlight 2 on my PC without being chained to a desk. The experience was incredibly shitty on the couch. Console experience is so much better it's not even comparable. No, using a mouse to rename a file once is not that a big deal.
A mouse can be used fine on a couch.
I have one of those programs and it's actually even less convenient than using a keyboard on a PC, your PC will complain there is no keyboard attached, they won't work until you've logged in to Windows for which you need a KB/M to begin with, etc.And I remembered a better way than even a mouse, if you have a smart phone you can get free programs that act as a touchpad and keyboard for a PC!
Now that is a strawman if I ever saw one.ARMA is a hell of a lot more realistic and harder to play than BF, CoD or Counterstrike.
I don't get the hostility from the PC crowd on anything related to consoles.
We should be happy that next-gen is around the corner. There will be games aplenty for everyone to enjoy, and with a little bit of luck we'll get PC ports that aren't visually and conceptually constrained to the mediocre hardware of the current console generation.
Instead, the PC crowd is continously acting like a bunch of defensive children on horses so fucking high they can't even see the ground. Well, a few of them are at least.
Some people just don't like to fiddle with a PC to play games, don't want to navigate Windows just to get a match going. Some people don't want a loud tower or genuinely don't care about that extra layer of MSSXFAA that your rig is capable of. Stop acting like they should.
Also, I say this as someone who plays 90% of games on a PC. Stop making us look silly.

You're one of the only people I know to use Google Fights to help defend the idea that a game isn't popular.
I didn't know Google Fights searched using quotations I thought It only searched using the actual terms.
The funny that is that even with quotations it still doesn't match the results coming out of Google Fights.
How would NVIDIA know the exact specs of the 720?
ZDnet notes that Feldstein "helped broker major contracts to see AMD technology launch in the next-generation range of games consoles, including the Xbox, PlayStation, and the Wii U, before he left for Nvidia.
I wasn't the one using it actually, I used steam stats.
and the ps4 gpu is probably 1/6th of the price
The original point I was going against was this idea that ARMA 3 has no fanbase therefore it's not a proper comparison. If anything the guys playing ARMA are some of the best FPS PC players in gaming. Believe it or not even in these conditions you can have fun and maybe even compete a little with a controller on the PC versions.

You're right, it is not true that literally no one cares about ARMA 3. You have done a great thing here, defending truth and ironically challenging people's intelligence because you don't think they know how to google. The original point I was going against was this idea that ARMA 3 has no fanbase therefore it's not a proper comparison. I'll just leave you with this while I'm at it:

It's the truth if you can't handle that I'm sorry, comparing ARMA to BF3 or CoD is like comparing Ridge Racer to GT5. ARMA takes more skill, time and patience to play and the gameplay attracts and creates some of the best players I've seen in the genre.

Your argument was that controller players can hold their own amidst M/KB players in competitive PC FPS titles.
What an amazing and breathtaking display of skill... I'm am speechless... Truly the best players in PC gaming!
LOL
I think the graph is comparing only GPU flops, not "Titan vs. entire PS4."Thing I wonder is if the titan alone just the video card is over 3x more powerful than the yet to be released ps4. How much more powerful is an entire pc with a titan in it ? Including the intel cpu that is far far more powerful than the budget cpu in the ps4, the combined system ram with the 6 gigs of ram in the titan.
Again you show your lack of experience with ARMA on any level.
Again you talk about shit you don't know and show your completle ignorance as far as the competitive gaming scene goes. You being an Arma player will obviously outclass me easily, how come you keep ignoring my requests to play against me?
LOL oh my

Typo aside, you need to learn how to read graphs...
Or you could be trolling and in that case well done
CPUs are all pretty minimal in the raw math power wise. I wouldn't put too much stock into it.Thing I wonder is if the titan alone just the video card is over 3x more powerful than the yet to be released ps4. I suck at ARMA and I suck at most other competitive FPS also but from all that I've played(I've played all the big ones) ARMA takes the most skill.
.
All this craziness will be settled the first "next-gen" multiplatform title is released. Will be interested to see how well the console versions stack up to 670/680/7870 configurations.
Did you ever play any Quake game? Or is this definition off "competetive" fps strictly based on modern military shooters released within the past couple of years?
If anything the guys playing ARMA are some of the best FPS PC players in gaming.
I suck at ARMA and I suck at most other competitive FPS
I've killed plenty of people competitively using a controller in shooters on PC including ARMA 3 Alpha.
I've played pretty much all the big FPS since the Quake days.
Say what you will but it's what I've seen from personal experience, you don't sit back and just shoot rockets at people like in most modern FPS nowadays. It's one of the reasons I quit playing BF3 as it ended up turning into people just shooting RPGs down a hallway over and over.
