Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS) coming to NA retail/eShop Summer 2013 (July 16)

It's so weird how the press release mentions it a premium title many times but doesn't come up with an explanation as to why it's a premium title. Even Capcom tried to come up with explanations about how they had VA in many different languages on the cart with RE Revelaitons :p

Is this really a sequel to Nocturne? I think I'm a bit behind with the news for this.

At this point we still don't know what, if any, connection it has to SMT3.

Probably is going to be a sequel of Nocturne as Bioshock Infinite is to 1 and 2

I probably should be complaining about the inflated price being a way to gouge the pockets of crazed fanboys such as myself, but I don't even care.

Inject it into my veins. Now.

since they're calling it the direct sequel to Nocturne I'm gonna go ahead and assume the demi-fiend may make an appearance as an extra final boss

maybe even a
different version of aleph

Well
STEVEN is there, and a giant statue of Mem Aleph

That's not what I mean;
Hijiri is the reincarnation of Aleph, protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei 2.

I'm not disagreeing, I'm just doing a reference to Bioshock Infinite
endgame.

The story(well, characters) so far seem to have a few connections to SMT1&2 and Strange Journey, but I guess they'll manage to throw in some Nocturne too, somehow, considering how all other titles seem to be getting some parts here.

I'll always refuse to believe that until it's officially confirmed. Hijiri is just too much of a loser to be the one who
defeated both Lucifer and YHVH
.

No, he isn't. The guy that wrote that FAQ says that it was just dumb speculation on his part and he never expected people to take it as canon.

I guess that kind of has spoilers in it, but honestly if either of those names mean anything to you then you probably already know what it's about.

I see, thanks. I was browsing the website and they are calling it the true sequel to Nocturne so I thought info about this was available and that I was out of the loop :p

This is pretty much everything we know so far (except I guess it doesn't quite cover the Gaia Cult or the Asura Group).

I went off what is in the game. It directly says
Hijiri was some dude who pissed off the great spirit enough to get reincarnated eternally to record all the shit that happens. Who would piss off god enough than the only dude in the series who actually fights him? He even looks like Aleph only with a damn 'stache.

The Great Will is a different concept from YHVH, for starters.
Their physical similarities extends to "having longish black hair" and "being men."

Guys, we'll be playing this in around 3 months <3

April: Soul Hackers/Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins
May: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
June: Animal Crossing: New Leaf
July: Shin Megami Tensei IV

Summer (general): Mario Golf: World Tour, Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, Project X Zone, Rune Factory 4.

Yup.

Project X Zone is apparently pretty not good, so, uh, you may wanna hold out on buying that.

But Reiji! Xiaomu!

Ohayo Ohayo Bonjour!

And yeah, I'm in the 'this is easily worth $50' camp, just like Nocturne was. I'm expecting a meaty game full of alternate paths and atmosphere in spades.

Heck, there's cameos all over the place too, early trailers showed Steven from SMT I & II.

Just waiting on Mr. Cypher.

At least no one has to pretend to be interested in Soul Hackers anymore so that we get SMT IV...

Fighting words. Soul Hackers is a masterpiece.

fact of the matter is there's no one in the entire series but chaos aleph who would get fucked THAT hard by the great will/ywhwhatever, to be reincarnated endlessly to watch the fate of worlds be decided by someone who isn't him. I guess you deny it because you don't like aleph meeting this fate? or because the random FAQ dude recanted for whatever reason? i assume it's him because it makes sense brah

I am fanboying so hard right now. I'd put SJ on hold when MH3U dropped, but I'll be swapping carts tonight...

Pretty debatable...

YHVH literally says at the end of SMT2 that he'll be resurrected by the Great Will
.

SMT3 is full of things that are not connected to the rest of the series: The Conception, Amala, Kagutsuchi, Aradia, etc etc. Given the narrative of the Amala Peepshows,
and Kagutsuchi's dialogue in the "bad" ending, it honestly makes far more sense that he was someone who fucked up the Conception in a previous Amala bubble.

This thread has a surprising lack of "call me when Persona 5 gets announced on a REAL console."

Also not nearly enough outraged people at spending 50 bucks more. I'm fairly pleased with the response myself.

So 32 GB is the highest stock card you can get for 3DS (without fooling around with stuff)? How many different times can a game get downloaded? If I get a new card can I have Fire Emblem and SMTIV on different ones?

I hope most people acknowledge that this is worth it. Shoot, ~5 hour action games sell for more than that nowadays.

Also, Atlus confirmed that there's no trailer on Soul Hackers 3DS. Ah well, it's worth buying on its own.

128 GB SDXC card is the highest, as long as you reformat your card to FAT32 (which is fairly easy to do). And there's no way you'll ever use up that much space. 32 GB is the highest without doing anything.

As do most SMT threads. In fact I don't even remember the last someone said "screw this game, where's P5?" It just seems like something people made up.

Nooooooo. Preorder canceled.

Lord knows I've spent $60 on what are likely to be far lesser experiences..
