Best episode of the season so far and one of the best episodes of the series. I will miss the show so much, I started watching it years ago with a sort of "so bad it's good" mind set but now... I can't believe it's almost over.

There's only one way for Spartacus to survive, and that's Ptolemy's version of the final battle, where it is an utter rout but Spartacus's body is never found. He lives in shame and silence but the mystery of his whereabouts and threat of return plant seed in the minds of slaves across the Republic.

Which is actually pretty accurate!

But all the other versions historically go with something more obvious.

Fantastic episode, loved the callback to the Arena from S1, GotA.

Not happy with how the violator met his end, I had hoped Naevia would redeem herself in my eyes and behead the little shit. Such a disappointment, he needed to suffer much more, his scheming and actions demanded a moer gruesome and gory death.

also, these girls were amazing.

What an ending to that ep; I was a teary mess. Great two eps recently.

The chant at the end slayed me. Have they done that before, naming the dead? Beautiful.

Can't wait to get the whole series on bluray sometime this holiday or next. Seeing it on cable just isn't doing it justice (I don't know why, but this show suffers from bizarre sound/visual compression issues over Bell Fibe in Canada). Blu should be beautiful.

Also, Agron!! Yay!

Is that even slightly realistic given crucifixion? lol

that was great episode. Brutal gladiator kills. Liam really grew on me and doesn't bother me anymore

really wish they did a Spartan kick off the cliff

I still cannot forgive them for killing Ashur Fucking Victor. He would be perfect as a minion of Crassus or Caesar, always scheming and betraying everyone left and right.

Nope, he served his purpose. He was a pretty great villain but his story ended right where it should have. Having him somehow be in the company of Crassus or Cesaer would have been way too forced. With Glabor, at least there was the Lucretia/Illithyia connection.

The thing this show does very well is not let guys overstay their welcome. They have gotten rid of a lot of strong characters in order to progress the plot, rather than have them stick around because fans love them. And the great thing is the people they bring in are just as good as the people who have left.

The only mistake in this series is what they did with Navea...recasting always sucks but they pretty much made a new character. I can't imagine old Navea following this path, and it only makes it harder given the cast change. Maybe this was the plan for her all along, and maybe it would've been more believable had the cast change not occurred, but given the circumstances they should have went a different route.

I may have missed it, but did Caesar imply to Crassus that Spartacus was the one who killed Tiberius?

One of the best episodes of the series IMO.

That was an excellent lead up to the series finale, Liam has totally owned the role of Spartacus this year and I'm really looking forward to the end.

I wished Tiberius would have turned around after being stabbed so we can be sure that he KNOWS that Kore is the one that took his life. Would have made his death that much more impactful.

Epic episode. Tiberius deserved to suffer more, but I'm okay with Kore doing the deed.

I can't believe there's only one episode left. I'm gonna miss this show so much.

I don't know, i'm not feeling it. I think i'm kinda tired with the series, like it lasted too many episodes. Maybe if this season was the second and not the third... i'm just glad it's endings next week.

Thanks for the heads up! I usually skip the credits for this show but I'll be sure to stick around till the very end.

So guys now that is approaching the end... Vikings (not keen on History channel censors) or Arrow (with Manu getting 2nd season love). I need more, with Breaking Bad ending this yr too.

Da Vinci's Demons, which premieres immediately after the Spartacus finale, might scratch that same itch - tune in to find out! And if you haven't already, be sure to check out Cinemax's Banshee. It's great pulpy fun.

The fuck? Congrats, you're officially the only person on the planet with that position. I'd welcome 50 seasons if it stayed at the level of quality and entertainment that it currently is at. If you're "glad" it's ending, why are you even watching in the first place? You clearly don't enjoy the show, and could have stopped watching at any time, instead of being "glad" that it's ending. Some of us would give anything for another season, there's nothing quite like it, and I think honestly there's seriously something dead inside your soul if you think it "lasted too many episodes". This series has had the least drag of any show I've watched in my entire life, and I've watched a shitload.

Is it me, or was Saxa more absurdly hot than usual in her brief screen time?

Really dug this episode, the arena fights were a welcome throwback. Even Naevia was really good. And Kore killing Tiberious when it looked like he was going to weasel out was a standout moment.

This season has felt too short. Another season or two would've been welcome. There isn't shit else to watch on tv either.

I'm still hoping for a Saxannicus future full of fighting and drunken orgies. I take offense at such a man being saddled with that wet blanket they have thrown upon him.

Oh man, that episode. Return of gladiator fights, HBK Gannicus longing to return to the ring arena, Sparty swag fighting with no weapons, the end "TO MICHAEL" remembrance scene....

Can't wait to see how they wrap this up.

After watching the shit that was episode 8 last night I wasn't expecting much from episode 9. Anyway watched it this morning. HOLY FUCKING SHIT my second favourite episode after the finale of season 1. Really thought Tiberius was going to survive the little fucker but the stab in the back was a just death. He didn't deserve any glory.

This pretty much sums up how I feel after episode 9 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cU8H77RJnP8

The fighting scenes were incredible! Facebuster into the swords, damn!

And then Naevia had to step in and bring it down......

I thought Tiberius' death was fitting, backstabber got backstabbed, lol.

Just one more episode ;__________; I can't believe it! Rooting for HBK to survive and carry his swag onwards with Ayla.

I remember the first few episodes when it was just mindless blood and tits and turned into some of the best TV has to offer (still with blood and tits!). I will miss you Spartacus.

I wanted him to survive to spite Naevia. I hate Naevia that much

I know everyone hates her, but honestly I'd want him dead just for what he did to Cesar. Everything else on top of that makes him completely obnoxious. Naevia I can ignore for the most part.

good episode. good season? I guess, but not great as the first one, like not at all. (and the one before)

I think S3 has been more consistent than S1 has for sure. S1 started off pretty shitty honestly. I remember the first few episodes not being very good at all. The show started to shine once the ludus and scheming started. I thought Gods of the Arena was great, and for me, S3 has been great as well.

Love this show. Sad it's gonna end. I have a feeling that either Gannicus or Spartacus will live but not both. :-(

I sure hope the Caesar spinoff happens, since the plotting and backstab story the Romans have had this whole series has always been as entertaining as the ultra violence to me.

Such a good episode.
Only one more to go.
It has been an awesome ride.

Now hope we get that Caesar,Crassus and Pompey spin off being the pimps of Rome.

The music that was playing when Spartacus was beginning his gladiator finale, is that Spartacus OST or is it something that is out now? It was awesome.

i wonder if the writing will be as good as Spartacus though

This show really continues to surprise me. They had me thinking that Naevia would kill Kore at one point. Then that Kore would free Tiberius. Then that Caesar would kill Tiberius. But then it still ends up being Kore. I was kinda hoping that somehow they would throw Caesar in the arena with Tiberius. Even though Naevia deserves to have the killing blow on Tiberius i just dislike the actress and wanted Caesar to have his justice on him.

Great episode and an amazing season on par with Blood and Sand and Gods of the Arena.

I agree, amazing show.

I wonder if Kore will attempt to kill Crassus.

Appropriate death for Tiberius; stabbed in the back by a non-warrior. I think that was the same spot where he was stabbed earlier in the season?

Caesar stood by and did nothing; probably saw how he could solve two problems at once. Make the trade using Kore and get Tiberius out of the way. With that said, I think he would've made the trade regardless just to save his own skin.

From what Spartacus said at the end of the episode it seems like they'll just make a stand while the non-combatants try to sneak away.

I liked how the fake Pompey envoy was visibly sweating; made it more realistic.

The crucifixion foreshadowing was sad though.

As amazing as it was it makes it seem really stupid not to just group up and go after Crassus with Crixus's army instead of splitting up.. I understand that they didn't know what decision Crassus would make but really why would you go after him now when most of your people got killed instead of when you had full strength? Really nothing changed except for them getting weaker and now Pompey is there as well.

It just seems like no we don't want to fight yet and then an episode later after a lot of his army dies oh fuck it lets go avenge crixus.. wtf? And I don't know how close this is to history but it just doesnt seem smart.

I loved when Tiberius entered "Pomey's" tent only to find Spartacus there in his place. The look on his face was priceless. Little shit got what he deserved.

Bwahaha, bye Tibby, you scumbag.

Agron lives, they chanted, I cried.

(Though I hope we get some more Nagron in the finale. I need their happy ending.)

Amazing episode with a really good send off. Hearing Spartacus say Varro's name brought some feels. Good fight scenes and I found that Naevia wasn't completely insufferable this episode though I would have rather have her kill herself. If she is the only one that survives I am going to be a little upset. Felt like Gannicus really took on a leadership role this episode and I really hope he lives. Can't really fathom him dying at this point. Fighting with his heals over a cliff and he just doesn't give a fuck.

Simple: Crixus would have acted as a buffer between Spartacus and Crassus while Spartacus brought everyone to safety. Now all has changed. Spartacus needs to make a stand so the rest can get to safety as there are now two Roman Imperators in pursuit. He knows he has lost.

Its close to history. There really was a split between Crixus and Spartacus, and Sparty was close to the Alps but suddenly turned around and got defeated. Or well, thats what Plutarch wrote, but the classical sources are not in agreement with each other.

I hope the writers of the show decide not to stick to the history and go with a different ending altogether.

also, count me in for a Gannicus spin-off.

Same here im keeping my fingers crossed for some kind of happy ending, either way I've enjoyed the show from start to finish and am looking forward to massive Spartacus session when the complete bluray box set comes out.
