I don't know what's wrong with me but I'm fucking jazzed for the new console. The TV series was puzzling as a reveal at a console event but it has potential to be awesome! I get the cynicism all around buy thankful I don't share it.

This is said about a lot of E3's, and I'm sure this one will find a way to be just as disappointing.

I hope not. I have high hopes here. It'll definitely create a first day sale for me, just depends on which console either ps4 or xbox one. I'd prefer if it was xbox, but not after this today.

But at e3, we finally see Destiny with hopefully some gameplay videos, we'll see Grand Theft Auto V, we'll probably see the announcement of Mass Effect 4 from BioWare Montreal.

Maybe see Battlefield 4 in action. Plus all these new IP's and games being announced. Doesn't get much bigger than the stakes at this e3, the one Nintendo is going to let Sony and Microsoft shine at when they hopefully announce games.

Everyone is doom and gloom. They showed us a very slick and fast OS that can do just about anything. That dose not mean the Xbox is shit. The games will look just as good as PS4's. Microsoft said up front today is about what the Xbox can do E3 is about games. I think with MS has a better console with a huge OS advantage. The used games fiasco will spill over to Sony just the same. They let Microsoft look like the bad guys by not talking about it and making MS take the hit.

I understand why you're jazzed. I'd love to be there with you. And my body was ready, but I want a video game console and I haven't seen any games for these systems that I want to buy. Yet.

As for all the shit people here are giving Microsoft for trying to expand the TV experience: that's one part of the next gen that piqued my interest. I can't get together with my bromanticores to watch a sportsball game anymore, but if MSFT can find a way to make that possible via Xbox Live and add in some interactivity/gamification to that mix--I'm there.

Thanks for your interest in Xbox One. We'll let you know just as soon as we start taking pre-orders.

As promised, here's your $10 promo code, good for your next purchase at the Microsoft Online Store:

No problems here. For use on anything in the store.

I don't want to ask in gaming side thread because they're even more upset than me, but any techies out there, now that we've got the specs for both consoles, how are they comparable? The processors, xbox one is handling a lot more tasks etc.

How does the 8 gb ddr3 compare to the 8 gb gddr5 for ps4?

Since I never bought kinect, the fact it's forced now, how would it work if you had it in your room? I like to game at night sometimes, I have an xbox 360 in the living room and bedroom. If I kept it in my room, would it mess up if I'm on my bed or something?

Just went 32 and 8 as a Dwarf on Shadowrun for PC, PC is so OP if you just plug a controller in. 60 FPS against 30 FPS console peasants, it's not even fair.

So my XBL will expire in two months maybe less makes me think if XBL membership would be transferred to the new console or it will be a brand new subscripcion to pay.

"We purposefully did not target the highest end graphics."

Everyone is a assuming the ram is GDDR 3 MS did not say what it is. It doesn't matter PS4 fans have beat that drum to death although the type of ram is actually not a big deal at all. Each has its pros and cons. Other then that they have damn near the same CPU GPU. The most important part is really in the complete architecture in witch I feel Xbox is better thought out. The have cool stuff going on like sram and move engines.

Sony should say the same thing. The PS4 and the Xbox are very low end gaming rigs. What do you expect for $500.00

You're easily amused. You do play Reach

It comes down to E3 now. No games, no buy. I'll probably wait for Halo and Borderlands anyway unless there is a new shooter IP. Both COD and BF aren't enough for me to get a new full price console.

Except in this case, the GDDR 3 is severely limited in comparison to GDDR 5. There's a massive difference. If the PS4 only had 4GB of GDDR 5 and the XI had the full 8GB of GDRR 3, then maybe the difference would be more ambiguous. But that isn't the case. Devs have access to 7GB with the PS4 whereas they only have access to 5GB of less efficient RAM with the Xbox.

People in the gaming side have come up with the PS4's GPU being roughly 50% more powerful. That's a huge freaking difference, if true of course.

Implying that PS4 will have "highest end graphics"? Lol absurd, PS4 may have high-er end graphic capabilities, but it is not highest end by any means, and I don't think Xbox One is lagging behind in any immediately meaningful fashion.

Exactly, That quote is comparing the Xbox with a high end gaming PC not a PS4. The PlayStation is not that almighty gaming machine as the fan boys on gaf have been making it out to be. Xbox one is a fair match add that with its bad ass OS and features I feel its a better buy. I didn't hear Sony announce dedicated severs for all games they can keep their p2p crap. I finally have a reason to pay for live.

Wow. Fucking lame.

To his credit, he did preface his comment by saying he wasn't sexist but. And so, when he said that, you should know that the sexist comment he made, wasn't in fact sexist.

Plus, he read certain 'researches' about female brains being better suited for marketing. Add it all together and he came to the conclusion that women ruined Halo.

cause they're not doing the presentation for neogaf they're doing it for usa today and cnn
Yeeep

Xbox 360 is used more for entertainment than for gaming, yet GAF expects MS to abandon that because they are in the extreme minority in wanting a console that only plays games and does absolutely nothing else.
Looking at the Xbox One info from the dashboard and there is a reference to Smart Match, haven't heard that referenced anywhere else, but maybe just missed it.

Yeah it's on the Xbox website as well:

That means you play people that are most like you.

play with most.

Appears to be updated/replacement of trueskill.
Halo series has potential, but what does it have to do with a the new console and why did the news need to come today during the reveal? I'm so confused by it all.
They were announcing their MS's own production house for shows, and Halo is their series.

"We don't want to charge $1,000 for our console or lose a bunch of money for each console sold."

So I've been really busy lately but I thought I'd drop in for some X1 discussion.

I am fine with games being tied to my account IF....

1) I didn't always have to be online
2) I could lend the games to friends digitally in a Kindle like manner...(It would be great to lend my game to a friend in a different state over XBL by simply letting them download it and play it for a week or 2)
3) I can "untie" the game from my account and sell it to gamestop/amazon/best buy -OR- give these companies the power to do this via some special machine whenever someone comes in to trade a game in.
4) I can take a game over to someone else's house by using my account on their xbox

Also, with all of this "digital key" and being tied to an account business I'm not sure I understand what the point of having discs at all is, especially if I can not play games offline (which is another problem).

My other gripe is kinect. I still don't want one. I would rather have a WiiU like tablet controller or some sort of integration with android and iOS devices. Right now the WiiU has the best "gimmick".

Numbers 1 and 4:
1: Don't always have to be online
4: You can do that

I think all of those but number 2 have been confirmed. Also, regarding android/iOs integration which is already working with 360 is supposedly being improved.

That controller looks so damn good. Triggers with force feedback? I need Forza 5 now.

You don't have to be always online, but you do have to be connected at least once every 24 hours or you can't play games. You can't install games while offline either.

If you take a game to a friend's, you can play it on their console with your ID, but they cannot.

Pleasure playing with Exwife, Wahrer and co...

Once the game started I couldn't hear how people were doing the automatic light rifles though :\

Don't know if anyone responded to this, but to do this, you have to shoot and reload at the same time. It was actually really cheap, and I almost felt bad for using it lol.

By the way, good games guys. Slayer Pro in BTB feels pretty good, Babby Slayer is ridiculous, and Promod is just great.

I read somewhere this was not true. I'll try to find the link. There's so much back and forth info right now it's crazy.

I wonder if we could just plug the Xbox 360 into the Nextbox? It has a HDMI-in socket. I guess then it would be backwards compatible in a way....

:lol

goddamn a new thread already....

will just wanted to say woow I'm not getting xbox one LOL "one" but damn did my heart get excited when whats her face came out, only to be destroyed.. :( a TV series...... fucking woow 343.. :/
halo 5 is pretty much the only chance I will ever fuck myself over again to get another xbox...I will play it first before I buy this time...from a friend or something, but I just don't see why they would waste time and money and resources for this.... I was surprised Steven is with the project..... still why cant they just make a movie already....a tv series....smh.

The used game thing sucks for a lot of people, I get that, but when you buy a used game NONE of the profit goes to the people that make it.

All you're doing is supporting gamestop...it is super inconvenient as far as sharing games with friends, etc, but it's helping a problem that's gone on for a long time.

What if I sell on Ebay or Friends? Either way what its really not good for are gamers. You can sell a Bluray movie if you want to.
