So will games lead develop on XOne being that the tech is inferior and then port to PS4 with little to no changes because of the PC like architecture? If so, then at least the games will look the same. On the bad side, XOne will probably be holding the PS4 back for what should be more graphically intensive games. meh

We really need a one console future. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

cloud computing sound like something Crazy Ken would have said to bolster the PS2/PS3

He did talk about cloud/shared computing. And then Internet and particularly Xbox fans crucified him over it for years.

Fan forward to 2013, now Xbox fans hopes and dreams lay within the cloud.

Because they both share similar architecture there is no need to aim for the lower spec Xbox .... use PS4 as the main sku and just turn off \ tone down \ reduce graphics to fit on the Xbox.

Xbox will not hold back the PS4.

the only thing my insider was right about on the controller was the rumble in the analog buttons. :( did they scrap the screen idea because of price? was that ever going to be? booooooo!

in game informer interview with marc whitten (the guy on stage talking x1 specs)
GI:the PS4 has 8gb gddr5 of very fast ram which are focused on games and I've heard x1 has 3gb for the OS and only 5gb for games wont x1 be at a disadvantage becuase of this?

xbox guy response: ''err, i dont want to talk about sonys platform, i dont know how it works'' lol

this pretty much confirms 5gb for games doesent it, Mark whitten certainly didn't deny it and seemed in agreement with the game informer guy about 5gb for games and 3gb for OS.

maybe he does not actually know, how much RAM it has for games and OS!

Saw one of the videos after the reveal that said they tried a touch pad on the controller and they didn't like people constantly looking down at the controller and then back up at the tv.

The hardware guy does not know how much ram is allocated?

He would be really incompetent if that was the case.

interesting. if you could ever find that link, that would be sweet. hmmm.. so they might of had it at one time.

Are they confusing a touch pad and a touch screen?

You don't have to look down when using a laptops touch pad...

Is it? I thought the 7GB for games rumor was just something reported by a site called PS4Daily without a direct quotation or any sources. Have we heard from any actual developers what this number is? We know Killzone is using about 4.5GB, and I don't think any of the other developers have spoken in much technical depth.

I believe that it was reported Killzone was using 3GB

Well, I would like for you to look at the Killzone: Shadowfall reveal, and then look at the Call of Duty: Ghosts reveal, and then give me your take on the situation, as it were.

You're using a COD game to gauge how powerful the console is? Really?

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.

"Look at the next title in a series known for it's graphical prowess and made exclusively for one system, compare it to a game known to reuse the same engine for years making small improvements over titles, it is made for both systems."

Nice comparison brah. Quantum Break would be better, but let's wait till MS reveals a next-gen FPS of their own.

That's absolutely stupid. Call of Duty has NEVER been a good looking game. They've always scaled back graphics in favor of performance, while Killzones scale back performance in favor of graphics.

This is literally the worst comparison you could make.

So you guys don't think Azure will be useful for gaming?
It's impractical at best. It's one thing to have a game rendered remotely and sent to a console in an onlive type setup, but a hybrid approach where the game is partially rendered locally and some calculations are 'in the cloud?' While possible in theory, it would be a huge development headache, not worth the trouble for what would be marginal gains.

Really depends. Weather physics calculations would certainly be something easily pushed to the cloud. Group AI is another. Take GTA for example, the cloud could compute AI routines for all AI, the only time AI is calculated locally would be for when player interactions take place.

1 vs 100 is a great example of something that would be easily pushed to the cloud. Instead of having to worry about an array of discreet servers to handle your load, just let Azure scale for you.

I am not saying it will dramatically change the landscape, just that it could certainly be something interesting to solve certain problems and should be something to keep on the lookout for.

Nope, because we've seen exactly this excuse before with SimCity and it turned out to be utter horseshit. I expect the same here, that it'll actually be solely for always on DRM.

Cynicism. So depressing.

These specs are so depressing, especially knowing they are the way they are just so the XBO can be a DVR with Kinect features first, gaming machine later.
