Tolerate my digressions and let me for a moment play the devil's advocate :

I honestly think that despite their mediocre reveal, Microsoft is a position of force with regard to E3. They have more first party studios than Sony today, all of which had migrated to next gen development. They also unshackled themselves from the time consuming exercice of presenting services, a task that Sony is still expected to get down to. Finally, they have only one plateform to support contrary to their main rival.
With them announcing 15 new IPs within the next 12 months from their studios alone, one could doubt the capacity of Sony to counter such an offensive.

I agree in part, but how can we be sure that MS will really wake up and release a shitload of first party games when they have been slowly but surely sliding into a more casual focus? The fact that since 2010 MS has shifted considerably in focus and the fact that they added a kinect with every system makes me believe that they will not use all of their resources to develop "core" first party content at the rate Sony's doing it.

I honestly wish E3 makes me eat crow because I really want gaming to evolve, but with a healthy balance. Sony seems to be the only one doing it, so far.

The wait is going to be terrible :/
I'm really hoping to see a japanese renaissance which of course includes The Last Guardian and FFXV in all their PS4 glory :p

If they show both TLG and FFXV in some form and provide more concrete info on both, it will be chaos for weeks here. And that, after the boards recover from the E3 aftermath.

I kinda wanna play Dragon Quest VIII on my Vita though. :(

I SO want this on my Vita too.
That, and Skies of Arcadia HD as well :)

Possible, but I am going by what they communicated at their own event, that is the number of IP intenally developed and to be launched within one year. Isincerely doubt Sony has as many goods in their bag, but what they need to do is display 3 or 4 really impressive products that steal the show.

What makes you say that?

Hulu and Netflix will definitely be region locked in other countries. Which means basically the whole Asia is fucked. Half of Xbox One's features will be gone for Asian countries. I'm from Singapore so which means I will be affected as well. Not good man Microsoft, not good.

I think people will see that all markets will have an equal presence.

Yes I was taking the western presence for granted and hoping for more japanese sauce :p
About western first party stuff I'm pretty sure that Ready at Dawn will be there with their third person action adventure. Santa Monica (God of War 3 team) should be there with a new IP.
Guerrilla and Evolution will be busy with new playable Killzone 4 and Drive Club demos. Naughty Dog will promote TLOU while the Uncharted team will announce their next big thing. Media Molecule could be schelved for Gamescom. Quantic Dream has Beyond to promote, maybe with the PS4 version surprise.
About western third parties I hope that Mafia 3 gets finally unveiled.

If they show both TLG and FFXV in some form and provide more concrete info on both, it will be chaos for weeks here. And that, after the boards recover from the E3 aftermath.

If everything goes well, there will be chaos for those :p

That's my point. I can't take them at face value because they've been showing me the contrary. All I have to go by is their last years this gen which have left a lot to be desired and a reveal that has proven most of the not so good rumors to be true.

I really can't go by what they communicated. I need to see the games and I need to feel there's a commitment to keep releasing them.

I just listened to some of Giant Bomb's podcast on the Xbox One reveal (first time they've i've ever listened to them) and Patrick seemed to indicate that Fallout 4 would be at their E3 conference. I guess the question now is whether or not that's going to be exclusive (timed probably) or not. I'm gonna guess that they landed it as a timed exclusive.

I only honestly believe that XV will be exclusive because of the rumour of Sony helping develop it. I doubt any other game will be like that if Sony is not helping. Unless, as you said SE made some kind of partnership with them.

Depends if Sony actively makes deals with S-E or not. If the rumors of FFXV being co developed by Sony is indeed true, then we may see more than just FFXV.

Could be DLC as well, since that what they did with FO3.

Yeah, the vita part was pure speculation based on the sentence Andrew House said at the PS4 unveil.
There will be something later this year.

He said something like, "the vita os is powerful enough and it'll be coming to your house. You'll hear more about it later this year."

I have no idea what the hell it is. Anyone who gets insider infos know anything? Some people suggested a tablet, but I have no idea how coming to your house mean a tablet. I'm thinking vita os will go to bravia tvs, sony blu rays, and a roku like sony device. Afterall, Sony has music unlimited streaming service, video pay per view service, and is rumored to have a netflix like service coming this year (and they might even be wanting us to pay to beta test it), so they would want to have that on as many houses as possible. Add an MP3/Music pay per download store for a complete entertainment hub and I think that's what House was referring to.

As a Vita owner I would happily give Sony free reign to talk 2 straight hours of PS4 games. After today gaming needs a real kick in the pants. Just do a short Vita conference the next day detailing Vita games and announcements and how the vita works with the PS4. Would totally be ok with 2 separate conferences, but Monday night drop all the bombs.

Would be better to have said conference earlier. Or they could just slowly trickle out new games and features for the vita leading up to E3.

Yeah, I have a feeling FO4 will be a timed exclusive (though at the time, will be "exclusive") XBO title.

Seems like it'd cost them a lot of money to be exclusive.

Sorry to temper your expectations, but Sony has not spoken at all about TV/entertainment services for the PS4. Like it or not, they will have to talk about it at E3. Keep that in mind going into E3.

I guarantee you aren't going to have to plug a cable box in to get these services, like the rest of the world they'll be internet/streaming apps and that's it. So they'll announce Netflix, Amazon, and TV catch-up apps - same as PS3 - and you can just press a button on your pad to get to them.

Then we can get back to the games.

If they had so many games they should have taken five minutes out of their cable TV talk to show them, a three minute buzz reel to keep mouths watering over the next three weeks. And they showed nothing.

I hope this:

PLAYSTATION 3
* Price drop

PLAYSTATION 3 -> 4
* Gran Turismo 6
* The Last of Us

PLAYSTATION 4
* Uncharted 4
* The Last Guardian
* Final Fantasy XV (exclusive)
* New Quantic Dream game
* At least 4 other first party exclusives

PLAYSTATION VITA
* Price drop (consoles and memories)
* New 64GB memories (128GB would be better)
* Freedom Wars confirmed for America
* Gravity Rush 2
* New Uncharted
* The "big game" they promised

INDIES
* Minecraft coming to PS3 - PS Vita
* FEZ coming to PS3 - PS Vita
* Hotline Miami 2 for PS4 - PS Vita

That would be a glorious E3 for me...

I would be shocked if ND showed a new game so soon. I mean it's possible but probably unlikely.

Well they do have that second(first?) team that are probably working on something and have been working on it for a while now. But yes I also would be surprised if they showed something.

I'd be willing to finally give Minecraft a shot if it came to the Vita.

For the love of god Sony, do not fuck this up.

All they need to do is announce more games and they can certainly roll straight through.

WiiU and Xbox One have already made their mistakes. Maintain hype levels through launch by showcasing new games at Gamescom and Tokyo Gameshow will demonstrate strong support in each region.

It will be seriously hard to mess this up.

I really hope Sony sheds light on their take on Used Games when they take the stage, I want to know what they are going to do, well they do the same shit as MS with the Serial Key/Fee to play or not.

I am so terrified that Sony is going to piss it all away at E3 now.

Always Online is my primary personal concern, as the idea of having my products potentially unavailable to me sometime in the future is unacceptable, but I'm still concerned about their used games policies, even if those don't affect me all.

I agree wholeheartedly. Can't we send someone like Shahid a tweet and ask him to take care of it? It would look so good on dat oled.

I would be playing my Vita non-stop if DQ VIII was on it. There's so many games I still want brought to the vita, especially ps2 games. Make it happen Sony.

Yoshida already said there is no "always online".

Nice, a Monday night. I'm glad it's not happening some weekday during the day when most of us are at work.

I hope to hear some news on FF games, maybe Versus (lol), X and X-2 remasters, possibly even FF13-3

on another thread, somebody was mentioning that Insomniac was creating an Xbox One exclusive? If so, :( :( :(

I know people want a lot of games for this conference, but at the very least, I hope Sony at least announces HBOGo for the PS3. I'm sick of not having this on the PS3, and I don't have a Xbox!

I know, but I'm just so paranoid now :(

I'm dreading that potential "but", even if it is unreasonable.

I'm not worried. They want to sell the system in a lot of emerging markets and areas where an internet connection isn't a sure thing. MS made the America Box.

Yeah give me DQVIII, Dark Cloud 2, Suikoden 2, Rogue Galaxy, Final Fantasy XII HD and I would cry tears of joy! Just look at this PS2 emulated HD screenshot of DQVIII:

I've played many DQ titles but VIII is absolutely my favourite. I think all Vitabro's need to take action to get this game on the Vita. What is our plan of action, GAF?

as i said in a previous thread, if sony somehow still fumbles with a zombie wiiU and this xbox mess, they're beyond salvation.
Games aren't a concern for me from sony, they always have a good balance between classic and new IPs.
They need to hit a good price, don't go full retard on the features/anti-consumer stuff like microsoft has and launch worldwide this year. If they manage to do that, i think they will be fine.

I've never been more excited for an E3 press conference than i am for Sony 2013.

You know all the Microsoft backlash of the last day is going to give Sony a lot of confidence. They will have had 4 months since their bombshell 8GB GDDR5 reveal to really turn it on. We know the PS3 E3 lineup is going to be solid, i can't wait to see what they show for the PS4!

If The Last of Us came to PS4, it would be to highlight the streaming capabilities. Everything else seems pretty reasonable actually.

what if its the 24 hour style like xbox one?someone should ask just in case.

Michael Denny said it can be enjoyed WITHOUT AN internet connection at all.

"Michael Denny So I think two of the other pillars we talked about in-terms of design were simplicity and immediacy. Even taking back a step from here, PlayStation 4 can still be enjoyed old school without an Internet connection at all. So it depends what level you want to use these feature sets at. So with ’simple’ and ’immediacy’ we want it so that everything is one button click away, for example. And ’immediacy’ takes down these barriers that can be frustrating to gamers between the player getting access to the content"
