The Wonderful 101 launches in NA on Sept. 15, EU on Aug. 23

I feel like people are too focused on Ninja Wolverine, Not-Vergil and Hammer Guy, while Smiling Whale Airship is going under-appreciated. He even brought along two submarines to throw:

Is that the captain on top of the ship?

I love that a miniature version of the ship follows you around at all times, too.

I'll rent this game when it comes out.
I think that trying the game by myself could change my perception but it looks so mehhh to me right now.
I don't see its appeal or what's so cool about it :/

It's what would happen if Pikmin got chopped and screwed into a Super Sentai game as directed by the same crazy Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe and Devil May Cry visionary.

What's not to love?

Somehow I'm more interested in this game than in Bayonetta2.

And I was fangirling for a whole day last year when they announced it on that legendary Nintendo Direct. Maybe it is because I already have a release date, I don't know... August is going to be great... :)

I don't normally care about graphics and FX that much
but am I the only one who thinks this game is absolutly gorgeous?
it looks so damn polished. wow

or maybe it's because it has colors? lots of them.

Could also be because we've seen significantly less of Bayonetta 2.

To me, no.
I've played W101 at various fairs, and obviously I played and finished also Bayonetta (1 of course). I think that we know what to expect from Bayonetta, and it will probably be a very good action game, but W101 to me (for what I saw and played) is more original, curious, colorful and viewtiful :p

I'm just a little worried about locations variety and about the possibility to enlarge your move-set.

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
Getting a Wii U for this ( sure there are tons of other games on the horizon but still ), it's made by Kamiya nothing else matters, price/platform/genre/etc.

Fair enough.

I am seriously looking forward to both (never played Bayonetta 1 though - yet, waiting to see if they announce a Wii U port). I know I will suck at both as I am terrible at action games, but I can't help myself.

I think both titles are shaping up to be better than anything they've ever produced previously.

So I'm pretty damn excited for both and have been for a good long while now.

Hoping 101 is one of the games that will be on demo at Best Buy

So yeah this was I was posting about:
ibhefo47zMGRJg.gif

All of the trailers have focused on the Red, Blue, and Green characters and we know they are playable. They let the cat out of the bag that the Yellow dude is playable too early on too. That scene is so chaotic I never looked closely at it and only noticed it now. He hasn't been seen since this reveal trailer as well. Even in the concept art that Streets Ahead posted he's silhouetted along with the White, Pink and Black characters and we haven't seen them in action at all. I'm assuming since he's playable the others could be too.
So we got:
Red's Fists
Blue's Swords
Green's Guns
Yellow's Hammer
White's Claws
Pink's Whip
and Black's......3DS?

Hold the fucking horses.

This game has MULTIPLAYER!?

I'm guessing in multi everyone just uses 1 hero since you can't draw on the pad to change or recruit.

Really want some new info. Nintendo too damn tight lipped about their games

Unless it's online play and/or you use Wiimote/Nunchuk for local play and gestures. That seems a little wild, though. And I'd guess this isn't some campaign co-op anyway, just some challenge mode or whatever where you don't need to recruit.

Guys, never use imgur, that site compresses virtually every image uploaded.

The box is from Amazon and in better quality since as said, imgur compressed it...

For 'The Wonderful 101' there were many times when this game looked to be in trouble, and each time I would go to President Minami and say 'I really, really, really want to release this game!'. It's not as if Minami wanted to cease work on this project all together. It's that, since risk management of the job of the company president, he wanted to ensure it was properly discussed. If the Director compromises on quality, the whole game's content suffers. If a Producer becomes overwhelmed by the height of the hurdles necessary to overcome in order to release the game, it may as well be as if the project never existed from the start.
『The Wonderful 101』

And of course these Tweets he made in English right before, relating to the Journos who report on Kamiya's tweets about TW101's length.

I was also talking with @PG_JP and he mentioned something I want to share. Media (not just western, in Japan as well) who copy/paste tweets and say they are news aren’t doing any sort of journalism. They are just doing the same thing that the retweet button already does. Then they take those tweets and twist/spin them to sensationalize, or cover the fact that they haven’t done any actual reporting.

*As long as Nintendo has input.

Not every delayed game will eventually be good. Some game concepts just straight suck.

Not the concept so much as the execution. Duke Nukem 3D was an amazing game, yet its sequel that stayed over what, 10 years, sucked badly.

It's a signature title, if it happens to be as good as it looks I can see it giving Wii U the street cred it's missing so far.

It will be bought by people that matter, opinion leaders. No matter how it performs it can start changing the narrative of the console.

As amazing as this game looks, that won't happen. This will be a game that goes entirely unnoticed by most people. To change the narrative, people at least need to know that it exists.

The problem with this game (at least what I get from this board) is how much it's associated with Nintendo. Still, if they market it right it could sell well like Viewtiful Joe. Plus I'm hoping good impression after release will sway opinions.

This game is so much more interesting than anything else coming out this year. New IP , new gameplay , great art style.

If you dont buy this game dont complain that games are all boring sequels nowadays .

Niche games yes, but an effin cool Platinum game like this? I can't think of any.

Funky PG games like this are niche, that's the thing.

Even Bayonetta 2 to a certain extent, but that will do more to change the narrative than this.

EDIT: Madworld, of course.

Madworld? that was additionally supposed to change Wiis ,,immature'' reception. No one cared. PG games bomb, Clover Studios' before that. Doesn't matter that they are the best in the industry, the mainstream has gone to shit. This and X are on the way, yet you still have the same people crying ,,lol Nintendo only makes Mario'' and even Nintendo fans that will continue to whine over F-Zero and outdated space furries instead of buying this.

I just remembered that this game is coming the same week as GTA V in the US, how stupid can they be? I wish Nintendo can give us an explanation for these three week delays.

Haha it was good for what it was. I didn't regret buying it. It was pretty short though.

Main problem with that game was how repetitive it was. Still, the boss fights were a lot of fun, and it was beautiful to look at.
