Don't worry, you can have both.

I love all those posters who would rather have a bullshit excuse, but one that makes sense to them, rather than the truth that they don't understand.

Mr Morin isn't a PR dude doing damage control, he's a designer.

He answers the comments but isn't going to invent some kind of tale to appease the internets. And he obviously isn't going to give you twelve pages of details of both the ins and outs of how marketing usually work at ubisoft, and how exactly they fucked it up this time.

hahaha this trailer is just too much. I can't stop laughing for some reason and it's not just the graphics at display here, the whole thing is humorous.

Thankfully we all know the final game looks nothing like that but that's far from being the main thing I'm worried about. I'm confident that everything related to the game's presentation will be awesome. The rest? not so sure...

Look at how sparsely populated the world is....the PS360U versions are going to be awful in comparison.

Oh well doesn't bother me.

I dare this game to look as good at that initial reveal trailer from last year on either PS4 or Xbone.

Yeah, that was on a 680 -- I don't imagine anyone's going to claim that the next-gen versions are going to be able to match that, "coding to the metal" or not.

You're a good guy i-Lo, but raise your standards a little, goddamn lol.

I'm fine with mediocre graphics, but to anybody this looks absolutely horrendous compared to what we've been seeing.

Thanks mate.

I think it's less to do with outright visuals and more to do with the settings and as always awkwardly stiff animations (exacerbated by bad editing).

Here's a (rather large) GIF (thanks for Blimblim's upload) and if you look at the vehicles and the lights when our beloved stalker is following Ms. Tyler it doesn't look very different from what we've seen before aside from wind or rain effects (an average night in down town Chicago so to speak) in terms of fidelity.

That said, some of quirks of being a cross-gen game is showing.

So, I'm gonna cancel my preorder for this game (and ACIV, too). Not because I think this trailer is on next-gen hardware (it clearly isn't), but because Ubisoft doesn't seem to know what the fuck they're doing.

First it was that shitty ACIV demo at the Sony E3 conference that crashed during the pirate ship gameplay, and now this. Why did Ubisoft choose to show this shitty build of the game when they have tons of other footage they could show off? Reeks of incompetence...

EDIT: Also... considering some of the responses in this very thread... these last few days (read: since last Thursday) on GAF have been the most embarrassing since I first joined back in February. A lot of overreacting and rage without understanding the facts or the context...

I'm sure Ubisoft will soon put out a new version of this trailer, taken on the highest spec PC they can find and they will pass it off as a next-gen (Xbone, PS4) trailer.

And the won't ever publish a current gen trailer (unless it's by accident, like this one), as they don't want us to know what it actually looks like.

a little, aisha tyler is quite polarising which is probably why we have 7 pages in here

too busy placing my preorder though, i think this finally pushed me towards the dedsec edition

damn you ubisoft

Lol, we have 7 pages because the graphics look like shit and everyone was shocked, but the game's creative director has clarified it.

Is this really a controversial opinion? The 680 is a very expensive card -- the card alone costs as much as the entire PS4 unit -- so why would this be surprising?
Just because the card is more expensive then the entire PS4 doesn't mean its powering Watchdogs beyond what the nextgen consoles can at 1080p
After all the game is limited graphically to what the developers choose it to be, unless you mod it
But even on ultra settings Watchdogs probably don't even make a 680 sweat and could not even pushing next-gen consoles either.
And Devision looks better and thats only on nextgen consoles
So when a PC guy makes those comments when there are better graphically games coming on nextgen consoles people will roll their eyes.

I normally write off a lot of complaints here as hyperbole, but dang! Someone probably deserves to lose their job for putting that "Trailer" together.

I'm not sure how you reached that conclusion. The Disrupt engine, like any modern engine, will undoubtedly support advanced depth of field, tessellation, motion blur and an advanced AA solution. Turn all these options up, and there's every reason to think that it'll bring even a 680 to its knees.

Note that this isn't to suggest that the IQ gains would justify the attendant performance loss but c'mon, the Ubisoft engine team isn't going to build a new engine that isn't fully extensible.
