Truly a Xbox 180.
At least they are not nickel and diming with this headset anymore. Like all their latest turnarounds we consumers profit, nice to have some competition.

And I'm almost certain that 95% of those 65% won't even realize it long after they purchase the console anyway because it's likely they already planned on being connected to the internet for multiplayer and will also have the Kinect plugged in to try out the console's main accessory.

I think a lot of GAF is seriously overestimating the common person's outrage over these types of things. For us it might seem like a crime against gamers but the average person is going to see it as a non-issue.

"Oh I just have to take one extra step and make sure this thing is plugged in too? Ok, whatever. Time to play now." - Average Console Buyer

You're underestimating how many people even have access to internet (those who buy games consoles that is), we don't even know how big the day 1 patch/activation will be. And also the problem isn't only that Kinect has to remain plugged in, what happens if the Kinect breaks? They aren't sold separately yet. If Kinect is required for XB1 to function, will we have a brick of a console if Kinect decides to die?

Why does it seem like MS is further ahead with this stuff than Sony? We have way more information about new XB1 XBL features, more details about how their system works, we already have marketing videos for accessories, and now we even have an unboxing.

I know, it's embarrassing how much MS keeps reversing their policies, but it still seems as though we know way more about the console than the PS4.

A company does not replicate another company's marketing approach and feature unveiling? WHAT A SHOCK!!

/s

Sony does things its own way, just as MS and Nintendo does things in their own way too. Honestly, if not because of Shuhei Yoshida, we would've had close to complete silence from Sony on their hardware side.

To be fair, I think the Kinect is the component that is least likely to die.

You know I give MS props for changing their minds on the headset too. I'm not going to give them shit for actually doing something good. Now the last thing they need to do to make me buy one is make kinect totally optional. Do that and I might eventually buy one. Don't and it's still no deal.

I wouldn't say that.

It's just that more recent information is out about the Xbox One in comparison to the PS4. So I guess that's why it may seem that way to you.

Anyway, the news about the headset was pretty much hinted at by Albert Penello about two weeks ago. Still good to see this confirmed though.

Coming at this announcement with as neutral POV as I can have, I can only think that this is Microsoft admitting the new Kinect would be as effective for voice chat as it's predecessor, which it should never be used for voice chat.

Were they not pushing Kinect as the replacement for a included headset?

Also love the marketing fluff that is spewed across the video for those with lesser understanding of electronics and the like, it's actually harder to find/buy HDMI cables that are NOT HDMI 1.4 (aka "4K-enabled"). On top of that cable providers do not supply HDMI-CEC capable equipment to the majority of their customers and IR blaster is no where near smooth as smooth as HDMI-CEC which the speed is highly depended on the power of the cableboxes which leaves a lot to be desired (waiting 3-4 seconds for a channel change to complete etc)

I am confused, is that big honking plastic brick that could be used to kill someone called the power brick or the power supply? Can we all agree that a external power supply/adapter (of the daisy chain variety) in 2013 is crazy?

I wonder why there are some people never have any interest to buy Xbox One whatever MS did/do/will do,but they still keep click in many Xbox One thread and reply 95% same thing again and again

Microsoft is not some chum of mine to get emotionally attached to. They're a company that makes a product that plays games that I want to play. I enjoy my product, and if they dare to implement any of the previous shit they did before, I'll drop them like a brick. Ties severed. It's a business relationship period.

Don't be dramatic.
But when you buy a product, it's inevitable to become emotionally attached and invested in it. Maybe not to Microsoft per se, but you will become attached to the ecosystem, the games, the people you play with online, etc. That's where the whole feeling of nostalgia comes from in the first place. Looking back on every console I've ever owned, it's easy to see just how attached we are to these systems. Your situation could certainly be different.

I understand what you're saying about buying and enjoying it, which is fine. I myself just can't support them because they revealed their true colors with all the DRM garbage and other drivel they were spewing just a few short months ago. I think it all depends on what you believe is Microsoft's ultimate goal and ultimate business strategy. More specifically, how do gamers fit into that strategy? I personally believe their ultimate goal is one in direct opposition to many of the ideals I hold when it comes to gaming. That's why I can't support them. Not going to fault people for buying and enjoying the games. Just saying there's a much bigger picture here.

I lol'ed at the powerbrick looking like a mini Xbone.

Yeah, that thing is humungous.

The box is really sleek. I like the look of it very much. Makes it look like the superior product, which I'm sure will help considering it's $100 more.

The console itself is nice look too.

Thats whats actually being used to change the channel on your TV, most Cable boxes don't support HDMI-CEC and can't be controlled by HDMI. When you talk to Kinect it just lasts the channel numbers like a tv remote would. Thats why peoples expectations of kinect controls for TV are so far out of touch with reality.

yep, this

its going to be hilarious when this thing comes out and everyone realizes how clunky the tv stuff is gonna be for 90% of people

We still don't know if PS4 allows USB, so I haven't put that as an advantage

Also I didn't know there was Gold discounts my bad, are they as good as PSN+ Discounts.

To be fair, I think the Kinect is the component that is least likely to die.

All hardware has a possibility of failing on its own, and things happen. I'd hate to buy an XB1 and the console doesn't boot up the game because Kinect isn't recognized due to a mishap.

I'd like Microsoft to clarify why it's beneficial for the Kinect to be always connected to the XB1

It's nice to want things.

Those things are integral to the system. MS knows Kinect can never reach its potential unless it is in EVERY box. And so it will be.

Some people don't like it, and thats fine. Buy a PS4. I am buying both. I wan't to play exclusive games as well.

Also, just out of curiosity. What Single Player only exclusives are you dying to play on Xbox One?

Forza 5, Quantum Break, new Gears (if not multi-platform), and Crimson Dragon (to get my Panzer Dragoon fix).

I've already pre-ordered a PS4 KZ:SF

Some good news finally.

Good for Xbox One gamers. But yeah, they better not drop it in the later models. Chat headset should be a standard pack-in for these online centric consoles.

They've already said Kinect is central to their marketing and advertising strategy. They want to be able to advertise to you in a more targeted way by learning about the things you like.

Spark is not announced for launch window, also it's not completely free, starter pack is free, it's similar deal as Drive Club. All the games I listed are launch window.
The list didn't specify launch only games also if drive club is included on the list than spark should be. According to your not completely free logic.

You don't need a play and charge kit either since a standard Micro USB cable will work to charge your battery. Now the wireless radio is turned off when you connect the USB and data is sent through the cable (Unlike Xbox 360) that should help quicken the charge.

I got 2x AA batteries in the package when I got the 360, I wonder if they'll include 2x NiMH batteries unless they plan to blow up controllers with some fools connecting micro USB cables while using regular Alkaline batteries.

If a launch game is included on a "how much will each platform cost you to get going on day 1" list on one side, a non-launch game should also be included on the other side?

Wat?

"Unlimited storage with the cloud" is just a dumb marketing term for an account system. Can use external HDDs MAY be an advantage is has over PS4, but that's another thing we don't know about the PS4 so you can't really mark it as advantageous.

I just did to you, I'll say it again this list is a launch window owners price and feature guide ;-)

I don't wanna start listing stuff way ahead of release, who knows what Instant Game Collection PS4 will have, PS3 and Vita had tons of shit I don't wanna get into the future.

I like the tidbit about the Kinect sensor acting as a an IR blaster. Hoping the Xbox One will control cable boxes that support HDMI-CEC? Thanks Xbox team for providing a headset in the box. Kinect alone was not an adequate solution. If you expect an extra $100 over your competition, you can't nickel and dime consumers

Still need an $99 Xbox 360 mini that connects to the One providing backwards compatibility to buy the One anytime before 2016. But other than that all my previous complaints have been addressed.
