This is my white 3DS. Nothing beats it.
Had that same color when I used to own a JP 3DS. Nothing beats all black though.

What was the need for a physical switch anyway?
Good job, but it would prefer Wii U circle pad placement XDExcuse this poor mock-up, I did it using my laptop's touch-pad.
I understand that some people think the current design looks a bit bland in the lower half, so I've moved some things about:
- Stereo speakers at top
- Start/Select moved down
- Second analogue stick added
- Palm grips in lower corners
The shoulder buttons are still an issue.
It seems to be a screenshot of upcoming firmware. Possibly Miiverse FW, but probably just a rearrangement of settings.
EDIT: The Wi-Fi switch comes on and off automatically depending on software according to Nintendo.
Polygon has a hands on.

Interesting. Since you can't access the HOME menu while playing online that means you can't flick the Wifi switch to disconnect from a game. You can still just turn the power off though.
So now there's gonna be two different firmware versions for both the 3DS' and the 2DS.
To turn it on and off on the fly with no hassle whatsoever even in game play.
Very cool!Excuse this poor mock-up, I did it using my laptop's touch-pad.

The 90s ARE BACK!!!
I've never needed to do something like this. I've always considered it pointless, so I chalk this move as a win for the 2DS.
I'm the furthest thing from a Nintendo shill and I totally dig it. If it had bigger screens and a better battery, I'd happily swap my XL.

It's also aimed at shaving every single penny posible out of manufacturing. Making more colors available increases cost, plus it makes more sense to introduce new ones when sales start to skowdown. You'd think that since the 2DS is aimed more towards children that they would have it available in a wider variety of colours. Instead there are even less available colours than the 3DS XL.
Nice job, specially removing the inter screen space. Which became even more perplexing to me after someone pointed out that the device is infact using one screen. Nailed more of the changes i would make to the device. And a second analogue is always useful!I like it as well.
Toss another analog stick on it and make the thing a tad more ergonomic and you've got a new Nintendo handheld that I'd love to own. A mini gaming tablet.
I used WW U because of it's extra screen. That way aspect ratio wouldn't be completely borken.
I do think the next Nintendo handheld won't use 3D, but I'll doubt they'll nix the two screens. I'm sure they want to keep 3DS BC, specially if they're planning for the eShop to carry over.

I feel like the triggers on the 2DS shouldn't be up at the top like that. It looks like it would be painful to reach the L trigger when using the D-Pad. It should be like the ZL and ZR triggers on the Wii U GamePad.
Of course if they did it like that the system would be even more awkwardly-shaped and bulkier.

Well, it's not like it's pocketable anyway

okay, i think the biggest problem with the design of this system is the color scheme. because god damn, the color on front/black on back or the white front/color on back look fucking great.
This is beautiful. Tablet + Buttons + Nintendo sounds very nice.I like it as well.

It's absolutely a necessity for Animal Crossing online (as an emergency measure). I've had to use it, and I'm very glad the switch exists.I've never needed to do something like this. I've always considered it pointless, so I chalk this move as a win for the 2DS.

Matte is kiddy? I've always thought glossy seemed more kiddy. It just seems more plasticky.I'm glad the front is matte instead of glossy, though I often wonder if it's the matte-ness which gives people the "kiddy"-impression.

if they make a version in clear purple I'm there day one

Green or blue for me !!!!Still an ugly handheld, but got dang, why do I want that blue and grey one so much

That would be an improvement and that's not what nintendo is looking to do with the 2DS, its a kiddy downgrade.
