I am so, so sad that we hadn't got another Jak And Daxter game, yet I'm so, so glad we got TLOU.
I'm feeling kinda ambivalent here.

-jak ii is better than mario because you're not saving a princess, you're getting revenge
the level design in jak ii isn't bad. it's fucking horrendous.
ignore the tag. i'm serious. outside of the few platforming sections there are, it's a fucking abysmal experience.
OK, you're good people.
(Was that fourth game really that good?)
Was the lost frontier any good?
Let me just warn you, as a fan of the franchise, do not play the Vita version. The framerate is horrible. Especially for the 1st & 3rd games.
Get it on PS3 if you want the definitive versions of the trilogy, because if you pass judgement off of the Vita version, you will end up hating the series.
Enjoy playing a slightly less aggravating version of Jak 2, as I believe in the HD collection version you don't take damage when running into other cars, but you did in the original PS2 version. Thanks for the heads up. Not the first time I've heard this, but I recently played some of the the first game on Vita and didn't notice any significant frame-rate issues, but I'll take this as all the warning I need. As I also have the game on PS3 (thank you Plus), I'll set those to download overnight.
Instead we got a movie
Also, wait...
In the Q&A he says they're busy with DLC but that he and Straley are choosing between two projects:
A. TLOU-franchise game.
B. New IP!? Which apparently is "not as bleak".
I now just realized that what I want is for Naughty Dog to first release a new IP with the Straley/Druckman-team then go back to TLOU after they've familiarized themselves with the system. They should take their time and come back to it in a "YES! FINALLY!" thing.
no. we didn't.

Explain how? I remember a fair few platforming sections. Hell, the Mountain part is very challenging platforming.
Platforming.
People tend to ignore those sections because it doesn't fit their preconceived notions of Jak 2 being a grimdark GTA clone, even though in reality this is the furthest thing from the truth. Fact of the matter is, Jak 2 had a similar platforming focus as the first Jak game did, and its platforming missions were among the best in any 3D platformer ever.

I think it's safe to assume that no one really wants a realistic/grim Jak and Dexter.
Something like J&D could be outsourced to a team like Sanzaru. Putting half of ND these days on a game like that would be a mistake.

They tried to make Jak 2 resemble a GTA game to increase its sales potential, but beneath the surface it retained all of the platforming elements that made the first game great, while sprinkling in some new elements of its own. All told, it worked perfectly and ended up being one of the best games on the PS2.
And so they made a good game instead.
