I went to the game on the store and clicked on the play it now button. AC GOTY version suddenly popped onto my list of games and I'm currently downloading.

Be patient, system doesn't seem to be fully implemented yet. The activation is in the registry and the official activation

if i got hired by valve, on my first day of work i would remove all the fucking punctuation errors, trademarks, mis-alphabetized sequels and other bullshit from the steam library and then i would quit, knowing that i contributed more to steam than anyone else who ever worked there did.

Shit is probably rolling back, databases are out of sync, Steam thinks you need to update because your version is no longer the version they have on record and the update still has GFWL, so on and so forth.

Yes it will, quite easily in fact. AC is not that demanding of a game, unless you want to use tessellation and PhsyX.

Okay, can report back:

While both games list full controller support on their store pages, Arkham Asylum still uses a custom launcher and the user must select play or options using the mouse. Arkham City uses the generic Steam launcher to give you the choice between playing the game or configuring options.

Obviously not a big deal if you're on a keyboard and mouse anyway, but for those into big picture mode, keep it in mind for now.

Nice, i just looked at my Gamersgate account and there is an extra key for my vanilla Arkham City Copy to activate on Steam
EDIT: Somehow this activated both vanilla and the GOTY of Arkham City.

I bought Arkham Asylum from the Games for Windows marketplace a few years back when it was on sale. If Microsoft is shutting down the service, how does that affect the games people have purchased from it? Are the games gone, or just GFW free versions?

I think things may have been halted, as my Batman: AC GFWL key from GMG's Capsule service is currently being rejected on Steam.

Will leave it a bit and see what happens. Hopefully any snags can be overcome, but this shows that removing GFWL can be a bit fraught, even after the near perfect Bioshock 2 change.

They will probably have the issues ironed out by tonight.

Its funny because they have had this patch ready for a long time now, just sitting on it for a Origins promotional opportunity. They still ran into issues on release.
