There should definitely be no gimping going on. This parity stuff is nonsense. If there is not significantly more work involved to make the game look or perform better on one platform over another, the dev should do the honest and right thing and allow the engine to scale. This goes for PC, PS4, X1, etc. (across the board).
My argument is that the framerate on the PC port will not be locked at launch, and there will be no cut graphical features. They're just running it locked at the trade shows to match console settings. If that's insane then that kind of insanity happens all the time.Obviously Sony gave a moneyhat to EA and asked them to maintain parity with the PS3 version. Because if console gamers ever saw the pc version of NFS THE RUN running at 60 FPS beside the 30 fps ps3 version, ps3 sales would cease the next day. I think sapient wolf is on to something with his theory
Not really.
Back during the PS2 gen, EA games were shown on that console but that didn't mean that the Xbox version of the games looked worse.
Does it not bother xbox one buyers that barely any of these multiplatform games have been shown on the platform?

Perhaps.
I also think the poor performance of last year's NFS game on PC (it was rough even on a 7970) has something to do with it.
On the macro level, I think there's going to be a shift back towards prioritizing the console versions of games. Now that there's somewhat parity in terms of power, I worry that the PC versions are going to be neglected like they were earlier in the gen. Time will tell on that front.
I am a bit concerned but I dont think they'll botch them knowing these consoles are a bit similar. I would like to see how it matches up against ps4 though.Does it not bother xbox one buyers that barely any of these multiplatform games have been shown on the platform?
But on the flip side, if the game looks the same on both X1 and Ps4, why have both consoles? In either situation only having one version makes more sense.
And while yes, the consoles aren't out yet the PS4 obviously has/had more positive reception.

These are the co-marketing/content deals iirc.
Sony
Ubisoft: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Watch_Dogs
Activision: Destiny, Diablo III
Take-Two: NBA 2K14
Microsoft:
EA: FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Battlefield 4 - seem to have a very broad partnership deal, so it likely extends beyond just these titles.
Activision: Call of Duty: Ghosts
Not sure if I'm missing any?
Which consoles, if any, have these games been shown on. I know a PS4 trailer of NBA 2K14 was released. And Battlefield 4 has been playable on both?

With Most games being demoed on PS4 and or PC, is it safe to safe the standard for review copies or lead platform skus will be PS4?
Not really, sometimes those graphical differences arent enough to be cryingIf anyone is buying an Xbone for third party games, well... Ignorance is bliss. They'll probably want to stay out of the Digital Foundry threads.
Criterion isn't developing this, correct?
No buy from me

Why would anyone on GAF be concerned? No one intends to buy it for multiplatform games.Does it not bother xbox one buyers that barely any of these multiplatform games have been shown on the platform?
Whats up with all the devs only showing PS4 versions lately
Oh god lolWhy would anyone on GAF be concerned? No one intends to buy it for multiplatform games.
I think the Ubisoft games have been shown on PS4, not 100% sure. Ghosts was shown on PC (with Xbox controllers). No idea about the others.

I never said they did.Why would anyone on GAF be concerned? No one intends to buy it for multiplatform games.
Why would anyone on GAF be concerned? No one plays games.
Microsoft moneyhatted Activision for COD and they don't even show it running on XB1? Yeah, I would be worried.
Why would you buy it for then? 720/900P exclusives?

Are people not being massively over dramatic?
The console isn't even released until next month and they way some people are going on you'd think it was already deemed only capable of ports akin to a Spectrum 48k.

Im paying a extra 100$ for everything just not the multiplats, the OS, the exclusives, community, online. Some of you need to step out that closed bubble. You're paying an extra $100 and you're getting inferior versions of multiplatform games. What a great deal.
A console where the games rarely even hit full 1080p is a cause for concern.

I'm not sure why people anticipate a game being shown on all platforms. Traditionally they're shown on either which ever is the lead platform, or whatever is inline with any co-marketing deals.
It's not like we typical do get to see both versions.

Am I wrong to be willing to pay the extra 100$? I mean I prefer xbox so im gonna buy it at launch. To be honest I feel indifferent about kinect on one hand yea they shouldnt put it in the console and make it optional on the other hand I cant wait to try some if the features and how it works. Sure its the weaker syst but it already has good looking games im not sure what weak means if we got games looking like ryse. You forgot to list what you're ACTUALLY paying an extra 100 bucks for. You can try to justify the cost by listing featured that aren't particularly unique to the system (both have exclusives, both have unique OS features, both have unique online features) but it's the Kinect sensor that you're actually paying more for. That would be fine if they both had the same amount of power but you're still paying a lot more for a much weaker system.
Not saying you're wrong to do so, since there are certainly attractive things about the Bone. But it's not really surprising that there isn't much enthusiasm for the system both from consumers and devs.
Definitely. I hadn't paid any attention to this, because I didn't want two racers, but I'm interested now.I think this Drive Club delay is going to help NFS Rivals big time. I feel like picking it up alongside Killzone (since you know... Watch Dogs :/ ).
Oh shit your absolutely right! Let me cancel my preorder what was I thinking? Silly me.1. OS - The bloated 3 OS's that take an addition 10% of resources away from games.
2. Exclusives - 720P, 900P and 1080P (that looks pretty bad)
3. Community - They are going to PSN for the most part. Hopefully the COD crowd sticks around on XB1 though.
4. Online - POWER OF THE CLOUD!
Depends what the reasons are. If they are truly behind and look terrible compared to their PS4/PC counterparts, there's real cause for concern.
if it's simply down to Sony grabbing marketing and talking rights, then there's really nothing to worry about.

Well why dont you tell me what I should do so I can make the right decision?I couldn't care less what you do but hearing you downlplay everything to justify your decision is painful to my intellect.
