Something really bugs me. It seems XBL will work like PSN, it will have to load everything from the servers this means that if my internet conection is low I will have a slow interface with losts of loading screens. That is what likes me more about XBL, it has everything at hand the only stuff that sometimes takes a bit to load are the gamerpics but everything else is avaliable as soon as I press the guide button.

About the article, the second opinion is more kind, it seems last month it started to work fine, whe don't know when the first opinion was taken. Probably it will be released with basic functions working fine and be addressed by january.
So, part of the problem with the development is related to XBL not working, its good to know where the problems are coming from and that can be addressed.

Honestly, I'm feeling a little worried about how either of the consoles are going on day one.

I don't want to downplay the annoyance of launch (window) problems, but I think that much of this explosion of feels is more due to people's understandable hunger for drama, than console Armageddon.

I have never seen any big software project that didn't run into issues, especially when deadlines re approaching. There are always issues where you have to call the last minute fire fighters. The bigger the project, the more different stakeholders it has, the more likely things hit the fan. It certainly sounds dramatic to hear these things directly from insiders and developers, but this is actually the way how things work most of the time, especially when independent systems (in this case games and online backend) are integrated. Sadly, this still the norm in software engineering. Especially if system interfaces do not meet the requirements, fixing the problem means rolling back a lot. It costs much time and money, and is certainly the worst case, but again, this happens frequently.

I never expected the infrastructure of both consoles to be mature in their first months of life. So yes, it sucks, especially if things seem to be on the upper end of the scale of clusterfucks, but that is sadly still part of the deal if you are an early adopter.

Famousmortimer was hyping "something bigger than Xbox 720p" in the end it's nothing, at least nothing that can't be fixed with a software update, something to do with Xbox One VoIP API and it currently causing connectivity problems. Microsoft introduced whole party system in 2008 with NXE update, I am sure they will be able to fix everything that is currently buggy on One, maybe not on the release date, but few weeks after.

It depends on precisely what features are currently causing disconnects though doesn't it? It's a terrible problem for an online console, what are the major games? CoD and BF? those are some heavy hitting online games, if this means that you are unable to play online properly for 1 month or so then that's a big hit for that section of Xbox fans, which is quite substantial, especially when only looking at those who would be day one adopters.

The thing is, with games running at a lower resolution, you get used to it, that's how it is, however with disconnects it annoys the shit out of you because it is always reminding you there is a problem. We do not know the extent of the connectivity problems, Also I do not think XBL will appreciate 2 million consoles suddenly turning up and disconnecting and reconnecting constantly, if this will have wider XBL consequences we do not know.

PSN was down for how long? How bad did that hurt Sony today? RROD was a monster issue, and XB still dominated in the states. 2K sports hasn't gotten online right in a decade, and I still fuck with that series religously. A couple months of buggy XBL wont mean much, IMO. Not enough to justify the rididculous celebrating folks are doing. Pent up I guess...being a PS3 owner was a real kick in the balls until the last 12 months or so.

That was sarcasm and just an excuse to insert awesome GIF. Why would I cancel my PS4 pre-order because of no custom backgrounds? To be honest i use XMB wave and Vita default theme anyway, never bothered to change them except for Journey XMB Theme, even then I grew tired really fast. My post might sound as Xbox apologist, but in reality I am not. I don't even plan on buying Xbox One until they throw out Kinect and sell it for 299 or sell it at 349 with one. And I think that everything in that blog post is easily fixable and he really overhyped whole deal comparing it to CoD 720p, as I said - HW Limitations > SW Limitations.

I agree. FF14 and so many other horrible starts. It is only 1-1.5 million consoles during launch window. By mid June XBL will be rock solid and every one will forget all the issues.

Only difference is that MS is now asking consumers to pay $500 and deal with potential issues. Media is going to pump that up fairly quickly. As for the last 12 months bring the only good times of being a PS3 owner? Hyperbole out the ass.

for those worried about PS4 having problems as well:

I wouldn't panic because there's nothing to panic over right now on PS4 side.

There is a plan in place and I don't know any kind of deadlines but the PSN going up for PS4 is part of that plan but some might see it as Sony being behind.

There is some issues on Sony's side but not like MSFT.

The issues I have heard about are based on connection which is due to go up next week.



If things go as they should it should be fine since we're fast approaching Sony getting their network on for PS4.

If I can get confirmation I will but it depends on availability.
