Polygon: PS4 can't view trophies offline

This seems trivial at best to me, but I see some people in here are legitimately disappointed so I hope this gets patched in. Don't see why it wouldn't tbh.

I'm gonna go to a friends, print the page of trophies and tick them off as I go through them.

YEA, take that Polygon. Your move!

It's possible that this could change when Sony officially launches the PS4 tomorrow, but for now it looks like this is the way it will work. We've reached out to Sony for more details, and will update this article with any information we receive.

Should I throw my PS4 down the stairs as soon as I get it?

You guys should start a thread calling for Polygon bans. Maybe you can create some sort of twitter hashtag and tweet Sony execs.

Its functionality that should be there day one, and working as intended, like everything else. So its fair game to point it out, regardless of whether you like trophies or not.

Even though, yeah, this:

Polygon: "PS4 can't bring wife to orgasm".
fucking killed me at work ;P

Every time I go to Polygon's site I'm reminded why I never bookmark it.

It is just a mess. Plus, their content is suspect.

Big deal. If this is an actual omission on Sony's part, I'm sure it will be patched in at some point. Until then, I think I'll be able to get by.

Somebody was going to report on this. It would have been nice of them to include a Sony statement about it though, if it was truly an oversight.

So we're supposed to ban Polygon for reporting news that many people here would rather not know because they like the console?

Polygon never said it was a big deal. If they break news that deserves commendation. Instead people project their own biases assuming Polygon has an agenda when it makes no sense to have a problem with fact-based reporting like this.

If you pay no attention to their negative stuff about Microsoft and positive about Sony then that's a very convenient way to try and discredit them as biased when negative about Sony. The confirmation bias here is off the frickin' charts, it's quite depressing how few will even attempt critical thinking. Most screaming bias at every chance are among the most biased themselves.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

No, people are calling for a ban on Polygon because they just spew FUD all the fucking time, like on their recent podcast claiming MS bought the Titanfall IP basically. Not too mention on their stream yesterday claiming Vita remote play was just for the Japanese etc..

No no no my friend.
Its because no one gives a fuck about information from this source

That's honestly what it looks like. There'd be a thread on this no matter who reported it, because there are people out there, gaffers included who care about trophies and how the OS works.

People are giving these companies way too much room to delay and omit features and capabilities down the road. I know the reality is that things get rushed at launch, but for fuck's sake, everything is *supposed* to work day one. And we should hold all of these companies to exactly that.

My overall sense of this. Altho if the Ps3 couldnt view friends offline they should be called out.

It makes sense. Syncing gets exponentially more difficult when you have local and cloud data. When you have to figure out which of the two is the most up date and correct, it gets really complicated really quickly. The simple solution is to only have the information on the servers.

This is more of a Google-type solution; where trying to sync local and cloud is how Apple tried to do it. Ask yourself which one you would prefer.

It's sad, really.

I find it impossible to trust Polygon solely because Microsoft gave them money to make a documentary. It's just... too much to give the benefit of the doubt with some of the stuff they report and the fact that money was freely exchanged.

No need to chastise Polygon for reporting this, unless you find reporting trivialities clashes with the sense of mission their little documentary purported.

People are calling for PolygonE bans because of the non-news/speculative fiction which comprises their main headline feed. Compare that to even currently banned sites and you'll immediately notice a stark contrast. News on these other banned sites have things like sources and not just random speculative banter from their latest podcast.

The Data has to still be on the PS4 though no? Since you still need to sync the trophies in the first place.

Look if they just came clean as an unofficial MS PR or propaganda department then they wouldn't get as much criticism here.

I think the call to ban stems more from that "MS JUST BOUGHT TITANFALL IP" thread.
