Square Enix's Dissidia Team Wants And Intends To Make a New Dissidia

Surprise. People want games on systems they own.

Even beyond that, people want games on systems that a lot of other people own.

I liked Dissidia a lot, but it would suck if they put in a great amount of effort into a Vita exclusive title just for it to get lackluster sales, and then have SE turn right around and be like "well, I guess there isn't a market on handhelds, we need to refocus on iOS/mobile" in their next financial report. And them doing a PS4 HD Dissidia isn't all that likely. If they're not going to make a side PS3/PS4 port if they would release it on Vita, I would at least like to see it on a system where it may have a better chance to survive and get subsequent installments.

I loved Dissidia and as long as they kept it a fighting game (Hell, remove the tacked on RPG elements) I would be really interested to see where else they could take the series.

Yessssssss......on PS4.

Quick recap on Square Enix strategy.

Cause Square has any idea how to make a decent fighting game....

Square could make Dissidia huge if they outsourced development to Arc System, Capcom, or Namco(like smash did).

However, on mobile playforms, developed at SE, with the same team and system it had before, it will just continue to be a half assed Dream Match game.

Additionally, the hit SNES title, Chrono Trigger, will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in a little over a year. For the occasion, Hazama states his desire to connect Chrono Trigger’s original story writer, Yuji Horii (also known as the father of the Dragon Quest series,) with former Squaresoft producer and director Hironobu Sakaguchi, to create the “ultimate dot-art” game. However, he states that the hurdles are high and might be difficult to do.

This is more important, I will love a dot-art game that popout like a picture book on the 3DS.
This is the real story looool

Funny, I want more RPG elements. :D I'd be down if they added basic enemy encounters and series boss fights. Hell, I'd even love multiple enemies per battle.

I don't really care what system they put it on. The important thing is that they're interested in continuing the series, which is by far the best Final Fantasy game I've played in years and one I thought SE dropped after Duodecim. Hell, I still play Duodecim on and off. I would probably lose all my free time to it if they had better internet stuff.

3DS is the most likely option because it lets them reuse all of the assets they already created (part of what made Duodecim a slam dunk) and it is a system that a lot of people actually own.

It is absolutely not the most likely option. They could just as easily upres the assets for Vita or a console. 3DS would effectively kill this series thanks to the controls.

3DS can keep Theatrhythm

SE really should release Dissidia 012 for iOS. RPG mode for touch screens and the usual Dissidia mode for people with controllers (whenever controllers are released) + updated textures. DO IT.

The controls would be just as bad as the PSP version, having to use claw. Fuck that.

And no, don't post the 3DS accessory that makes the 3DS a monster with two analogs.

This can actually work. Much to my disbelief.

I own a 3DS, and don't want a Dissidia on there.

Me neither. The battle system is bland and lackluster.

Ever watched Advent Children and seen the fight scenes? Imagine a dissdia game that looked and played like that on PS4. Shit would be crazy.

Surprise: everything will be a quicktime event.

No why would people want it on 3ds seriously? It wouldn't be really improved by technics and graphics then.

Fullfledged console release or Vita

.

I want a sequel for the PS4.

Or at least PS3 ffs. I can only imagine how an HD Dissidia would look like. :drools:

ITS OFFICIAL. Mehgius is committed to hate everything I love. Omg, get yourself a better taste in games sir. How dare you offend the game that is the holy grail of fighting games. I don't even...

I would lose it if they made a new one.

PS4/Vita . Don't care which one, just make it.

Dunno why people would want it on the 3DS though.

Playing Dissidia 012 on the Vita with a second analog stick improved the game. A Vita release will mean the game looks better, plays better and it can be played with a pad and on TV if you get a Vita TV.

Someone use whatever means necessary to tell him to release the new one on ps4 and x1 and make Seifer, Auron, Vincent, Balthier, Beatrix, Celes, Fang, Noctis, Crono, Magus and others playable.

Revelatipns proves that a Dissidia on 3DS can look much better then Dissidia on PSP. The last two have hardly anything really going on so using 3DS wouldn't be out of picture for an upgrade.

Also, I never had these control issues people are crying about so I'm good for whatever. However I don't believe for a second this will be Vita or PS4 based, so peoples best hope is probably PS3 with both up and down ports.

I love both Tekken and Dissidia.

One has DORYAS

The other lets me feint teleport dash move with Tifa.

I didn't have any issues until I played it on Vita. Now I wouldn't want to go back to single analog control.

How would the controls be any different from the PSP? All of the same buttons are available.

What? I had no issue with the controls at all. Also, when I played both Dissidias on PSP I used the D Pad for movement over the analog nub since it was garbage. The circle Pad on the 3DS is better but even if it doesn't work well...D Pad is available again.

I see nothing wrong with that control scheme.

I don't understand people in this topic who want a new Dissidia but didn't like the controls or battle system. Why do you want a new game if you didn't like the game? The battle system WAS the game, and it was great. And the controls suited it fine.

Also, the Square of today is not going to dump the resources required into this for a console version. Just think about it. It's either Vita or 3DS and it isn't going to sell on one of those. Best case is it is multiplatform and hits both, but 3DS at least is really the most likely option here.

Releasing it on 3DS would likely result in 10x as many sales rather than Vita. I really don't understand why they would put it on Vita (though this means SE are going to do this most likely).

Releasing the game on next-gen console is exciting to think about, but the thing i liked about Dissida is that the gameplay fits a handheld experience (same with Pokemon, imo). They'd need to change it up a fair bit to work on console.

I'd rather not have a third Dissidia expansion pack, because on 3DS that is exactly what it would be since they don't have the versatility of the Vita or consoles. I just don't want it held back by the 3DS's relatively outdated hardware.

And who cares about how much it would sell besides SE? I want a better game, even if it doesn't sell as much.

The scope of the game was not held back at all on PSP. 3DS is more powerful than PSP and they would still be able to expand on the concept, if they wanted. Honestly it's already a great concept though. It doesn't need much beyond more characters (which is always going to be something they could add), more arenas, and online. All of which they can do on any of the current platforms.

I don't care how much it would sell either. But as you point out, SE does care. Thus, SE is not going to put the game on a system where it wouldn't sell at all (Vita) and they won't pour more resources into it than necessary (for consoles) as they already expect it to sell a low number. 3DS is the best platform (outside of mobile) with this in mind for them. Their entire business strategy the last couple of years have proven this is the direction they have been heading in outside of FF15 and KH3.

You don't have to care about the sales, but you should at least understand where Square is coming from and why it is extremely unlikely to happen on Vita/PS4. Anything else is just sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending the realities of the video game business don't exist.

Goddamn it, I smell another iOS game in the wind. That dark cloud is going to hang over almost every SE statement and game teaser. Just imagining a Dissidia on proper hardware makes me giddy, but it'll never be.
