PAL Charts - Week 49, 2013

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Looks like there was a decent restock of XBones last week with Fifa shooting back up as well as CoD and DR3 improving.

Multi releases doing better on One this week
FIFA 14
Call of Duty: Ghosts

Multi releases dojng better on PS4 this week
Battlefield 4
Assassin' Creed IV: Black Flag
Need for Speed: Rivals.

This year's entrance barrier in top 40 seems to be much higher than usual. Not saying this because 3D World is 40th, but because there are titles like Need for Speed: Rivals with versions 20th, 29th, 36th and out of top 40, but the game is 7th in the All Formats charts, probably around 40k (given 10th is around 35k).

The UK charts in particular are always a thoroughly depressing sight. The state of gaming in this country, amongst the masses at least, is not good.

You could have the UK charts from Xmas 2009/10 and it would look very similar to how it is now. The same three or four games each and every year topping the charts for weeks on end, chief amongst them COD and FIFA.

It's too early to call the whole XBone / PS4 thing. We need both in plentiful stock before drawing any conclusions.

Mainstream games in mainstream success shocker.

If I was restricted to the top 5 singles on iTunes, I'd never listen to music again.

The same as the US charts then. And pretty much every Western country.

The only interesting thing out of this top is that Xbone seems to have sold quite good past week. Maybe 30k ? The 4 FIFA SKUs in the top are quite close together so we can estimate an almost equal share for them. That means at list 30k for Xbone version.

The worst offender is FIFA imo, other than graphics what is in the new games that cant be released as DLC? At least COD has a new storyline and maps each iteration.

Super Mario 3D World’s sales slide continues as the Wii U title drops nine places to 29th, although it has for the first time finished above PS4’s Knack which this week sits in 31st.

Heartbreaking. Hopefully this lights a fire under Nintendo's arse and they become more proactive in 2914.

What's depressing about it is that it isn't gameplay that sells, it's specific power fantasies. Being a soldier or a footballer, being an assassin. I think these games are mostly pretty good bar COD, but that's not the point. It's not really why they sell. Their content material is why they sell so much. That's what depresses me. Most of these people only care about games that already touch a sphere of experience that they're already interested in. They aren't interested in games themselves.

Gah, bloody phone. Although with the pace Nintendo move, it's not entirely inaccurate...

Seriously, I hope they do something, anything with the Wii U next year...Enough of this complete indifference to how the U is performing.

A year headstart and they were outsold by both PS4 and X1 within a week or so of their individual release...
