People who are good at designing games are not the same people (usually) who are good at balancing them. They're two entirely different skillsets. You CAN posses both, but that's relatively rare.

When I started seriously playing more footsies/spacing oriented characters in SF4, I had a lot of problems antiairing while also paying attention to the ground game. I was all like "Why can't I antiair with this 3f dp? I can antiair with lp fukiage better than most Makotos I see. That shit is 7f AND a dp motion."

Eventually I realized it was because of the stuff that article talks about.

X-factor was in Guilty Gear
Custom Assists were in Jojo's
Cross Assault was in Jojo's

The only things I can think of are giants in TvC and maybe 2v2 tag battle in SFxT?

The game also has a feature called Chaos Mode that is activated when a character's health (yellow bar) is at the half-way point. A red aura will surround the character and he/she is able to perform unlimited Chaos Attacks.

people do that actually. They get a friend to place bets for them. Usually find a sucker to bet odds as well. Not saying fanatiq does it, but people have done it before.

How would it work? Well:

You arrange a money match thinking you might lose.
You use your reputation to convince some people that you are going to win.
You get your friends to bet with those people and at least cover some of your bet.

I'm not suggesting anything like that actually took place, but as soon as large sums of money are changing hands you have to expect people are working out the odds.

If I was betting on something as volatile as a fighting game money match I'd be trying to get some insurance as well.

Actually it works extremely well. There have been cases of sports gambling and even Starcraft scandals where players would throw games to make money off the odds. All you have to do is have someone else bet with money in your place. Though I doubt they were that crafty or prepared in this case. Nvm that it is a scummy practice for betting that is already shady anyways.

This kind of shocks me (that you're not familiar with it). It's been pretty well known for a while. A nice refresher for people coming from Super Turbo that wanted less "here's three jabs for 50%".

Also, Desk wouldn't have been able to do 1/2 of the absurd stuff he does in his videos if it wasn't for damage scaling.

I disagree with this. A lot. I play MVC because its fun. I certainly know im not very good, and certainly don't hate myself. I just like how its the most pressurefilled game there is in the fgc. Its the reason why I like Dive Kick too. You make a mistake in Dive Kick you loose. Same as in MVC.
