Funniest characters in video games

Low intelligence main characters in Arcanum and Fallout 2 were very funny for me. I would talk with everyone in those games just to see how they would react to how dumb the main character was.

I would say the whole cast of Psychonauts. The game is hilarious!

"
Kochamara: I've got the brain of a little girl back in my lab that could power a whole army of Psycho-Blaster death tanks... [realizes Raz is laughing at him] What's so funny?
Razputin: You have the brain of a little girl?
Kochamara: ...I said, "in my LAB!"
Razputin: I think you have the muscles of a little girl, too! "

I vote for the Psychonauts cast, and Travis Touchdown. The whole Psychonauts game is pretty brilliant in the comedy department. Travis on the other hand is pretty funny the way he interacts with each of the assassins.

I'd also like to add Yuffie as well. She's pretty funny and energetic on FF7, she was my favorite character in the game because of this. She was like the only relief from all the events in the game.

Morte in Planescape: Torment. Him hitting on a zombie girl is nothing short of hysterical.

Nordom: Attention; Morte. I have a question. Do you have a destiny? A purpose?

Morte: Is Annah still wearing clothes?

Nordom: Affirmatory.

Morte: Then the answer is yes.

"Women were the reason I became a monk - and, ah, the reason I switched back... "

It's called the 'Mortuary'... it's a big black structure with all the architectural charm of a pregnant spider.

Claptrap, beaten damn

The most painfully unfunny character I've ever encountered in a game. I hate this thing so much.

Anyway, as for me: Ma'iq the Liar from the Elder Scrolls series.

Basically exists to throw salt in the wounds left by fans' unmet expectations. Uses troll logic to explain why so-and-so feature exists or no longer exists. I love the immortal bastard.

Some pretty good choices so far, but this guy is often overlooked and is fucking hilarious. He's an asshole, but a funny asshole.

Loving all the Daxter mentions here!

Also the casts of the Banjo-Kazooie series and Conker's Bad Fur Day always have me rolling, loved Rare's sense of humor.

Mr. Zurkon is #1
Drake & Sully (Golden Abyss dialogue is one of the funniest things I've ever heard in a videogame) are #2
Daxter #3

This clown made me laugh frequently

"Shithog? Oh come now, that's not even a real word"

A lot of the humor comes from exchanges between him and the other characters though. Especially Weiss and Kaine

Jansen, Lost Odyssey.

His humor is what kept him in the party for me.

For me it's Sergeant Cortez. Obviously he plays the straight man in most scenarios cast against the wacky supporting cast of TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, but sometimes he gets to play the goofy one, especially when having to converse with himself thanks to time hi-jinks.

Dr. Loboto: I hate to be so blunt, but YOU have the insanity... of a manatee!
Dogen: I know, people are always saying that. What do you think's wrong with my brain, doctor?
Dr. Loboto: How should I know? I'm a dentist. But here's what I do know: if the tooth is bad, we pull it!

Sully and Drake's banter in the few missions they shared in Uncharted 2. Made me more excited for Sully's larger presence in 3, though that was played more seriously than humorously.

Also, Nathan Drake through his Journal

Heck, basically any of the main characters when they're bantering.

The whole cast of Old World Blues. I laught many times when I played it. But the best one, was the female doctor who orgasm when you inhale quckily.

The Imperial Agent is just glorious in Star Wars The Old Republic if you like twisted humor.

The Narrator in Stanly Parable

The Joker obviously delivers some of his best lines as well in the Arkham series

This really is HK 47 the thread, funniest video game character by far. His best moments are when he learns the incorrect lesson from a set of events. You think he just learned to open his heart, then he turns the story.

Yeah, Sgt. Cortez is fantastic.
Daxter's probably my favourite, along with Guybrush.
The Psychonauts cast, Dr. Nefarious and Twinsanity Dr. Neo Cortex are great, too.

Kanji got all the good one-liners in the game, and there were PLENTY.
Troy Baker's delivery really made Kanji. The voice acting in Persona 4 is good all around, but it's easy to imagine Kanji's lines falling flat without his trademark yell.

"Hey, you! That button's falling off! I'M GOING TO SEW IT BACK ON, YOU HEAR?"

Leon Something Kennedy. His terrible one-liners and comebacks are the real reason that RE4 is so fondly remembered.

My main man Kyle Hyde

CiNG-Nintendo-Los-Angeles-DS-Novel-Last-Window-Hotel-Dusk-paw4.jpg

This guy is the source of such instant classics as:

* "It's a bookshelf. Wait, my mistake, it's a table."
* "Well, I'm certain that you're an idiot, and only one of us is right. And you couldn't deduce your way out of a wet sack. That's why your books sell like fried crap at a county fair."

And let's not forget his legendary comebacks:

* "Hey! What are you doing in my room?" -"Isn't this the lobby? My mistake."
* "...Kyle Hyde? Yer name really Kyle Hyde?" -"That's what my parents told me."

You forgot his most memorable line of all! Look at that pure satisfaction.

Most of psychonauts was hilarious but the line I still smile when I think about today was:

Raz: So hey, have you seen any other humans around here? I'm looking for a girl called Lili.
Resistance Lungfish: The government archives might have some information on your young girlfriend, Goggalor.
Raz: Heh, I don't know if she's really my girlfriend, I mean---I think she..
Resistance Lungfish: I only meant that she's your friend who is a girl, Goggalor

Beyond that Wheatley in Portal 2 is obviously masterfully written/read and I really enjoyed a lot of Bulletstorm. That game got marketed horribly but the humour was actually much more on point than it was off colour.

Cave Johnson and Glottis from Grim Fandango for his utterly random mannerisms which had me constantly laughing.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Disc World - probably every character. Gotta play 2 eventually.
