Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (Xbox One / PlayStation 4) - Jan 28 2014

Also I like how they aim to de-sexually objectify Lara but there‘s so many boob and ass shots in the trailer it‘s ridiculous.
I never even noticed anything like that nor would I until you pointed it out. Honestly I think that says more about the spectator watching than the trailer...

The difference will be significant.

And...well, it is $60.

Crap, I left off the "...for long" portion. I'll probably cave and buy it at full price anyway since it's not like the PS4 will be swimming in quality titles between now and inFAMOUS. I'll recoup a good portion of that when I sell it.

$60, no. $30, yes.

I would double dip at that price. They ought to have some sort of digital upgrade price; not as cheap (thought that'd be great) as the launch titles like AC4 and CoD, but for a game that released in March of this year, to have a mere graphical upgrade come out less than a year later and still try to charge full retail for it, is ridiculous.

I always thought the old face looked like failed surgery

I bought this on PS3 but I barely got 3 hours into it because of all of the other stuff that came out at the same time. I preordered the PS4 version. I really hope they spent some time fixing up the multiplayer. I spent about an hour with it, and it had potential to be decent but it was a fucking disaster. I wouldn't mind having a decent TPS for mp on my PS4, so if anyone from Eidos is watching this thread, please fix that shit and I will play it.

Just watched the trailer in HD. If you play it side by side with the launch trailer there's hardly any difference (not counting the player model), am I crazy? I thought there would be a more stark contrast. Sure it will look better on next gen consoles but judging from the trailer....

Why you guys keep comparing the trailers? If nothing else Assassins Creed 4 has shown how pointless that is. The various comparissions showed hardly any difference between the PS3 and PS4 version of the game, yet the PS4 visuals just blew the PS3 ones out of the water if you've seen them on you own TV.

There is no doubt in my mind that TR will look georgous on the Next Gen consoles. Full HD resolution alone should make the difference more than obvious.

No new costumes. No new weapons. No new enemies. No new or retooled tombs. No new game+. No new crazy difficulty level.

But new makeup and hair? Its no longer the same game. No longer the same content. Cant wait to preorder.

This.
Also 3.4 million sold in first month was deemed a "failure" for them. They just wanna move units.

The team is mostly working on TR 2 anyways. I doubt there is much to benefit to create new content for double-dippers.

Square Enix better reign in those estimates. I don't see the sequel doing double the numbers of original...could be wrong though. I know they were looking for 6 or 7 million first month.

S... seriously? It's literally a NextGen/HD upgrade with no extra content at all?

I just bought this game the other day for $5. It runs over 70 FPS on ultra settings, so if it doesn't pull that off, it isn't that definitive of an edition.

People will spent 99% of the playtime staring at her ass anyway, so who cares about her face.

This is Tomb Raider 2013 not Tomb Raider Legend/Anniversary/Underworld. Especially Underworld wow.

+1080p
+ Redone textures
+ Added effects
+ TressFX
+ Redone models, especially Lara and her face
+ All the DLC including the preorder retailer-exclusive costumes, the preorder tomb, and the DLC multiplayer maps

So gameplay-wise, no, nothing new that wasn't in the original. No new content or mechanics.

Lara went from i want to protect her because she look innocent to i dont want protect because of her supermodel vanity. That is a mistake.

There was seriously no need to adjust the face unless it matches an actress face that will play lara in a relaunched tomb raider movie. Seriously, if that is not the case then the developers wasted unecessary man hours that could have been applied to something more important for hardly anyone complained about the way lara looked. I would have preferred the dev concentrated on extra levels that allowed lara to swan dive and swim underwater (one of the biggest and most appealing aspect from the original tomb raider game) along with a new mini story. Since extra levels are costly, then they could have improved the survivor aspect for there are a few wasted or pointless mechanics in the game because of the limited situations that would imply you to use them. Oh well... it's done now.

I'm so glad I borrowed a friend's copy of this game. Now I won't feel bad about getting it for $60 since I never bought it in the first place :p

If you guys think the $60 definitive edition is expensive, right now on the official Tomb Raider store you can put down a $100 initial deposit on reserving your Lara Croft "Survivor" 1/4th scale statue!

Serious waifu conoisseurs only. Cant post a link cuz im on my phone.

+improved lighting and shaders
+improved physics/added cloth physics
+higher poly environments (you said redone models but still - they pretty much gave the entire game a higher polycount (if they aren't grossly exaggerating, that is) so that deserves an extra mention IMO)

And we don't know what the framerate will be yet. During a Q&A over at Eidos' forums one of the Crystal guys said they're currently tip-toeing around the question because they're still optimising and don't know at what framerate they'll be able to get it to run for the final version. Although I doubt it'll be 60.

Well, for people that never experienced the pc version at maxed settings they willl go crazy for this game from a graphics point of view. On my machine it looks spectacular at 2560x1600p @ 60fp and it still looks good at 1080p (though not insanely good compared to 1600p). Definitely a next gen console treat even at 30fps with high equivalent graphics settings.

Here is the official 1/4 200" $325 statue. Limited 1000 units run.

Basically you pay $100 now, then the difference + shipping + any applicable tax upon shipment sometime in April, May, or June. There is a more expensive version that comes with different weapon(s) that is even more expensive.

For comparison, here is the 8" $65 action figure
