Can't say I have too much trouble with the camera. If you're really in a bind you can always use your chin.

Not joking. Have done it multiple times in games with rotating cameras.

I'm playing with a 360 pad, any way to permanently get rid of the mouse cursor in menus? Keeps showing up in the center of the screen, even if I've moved it away previously.
anyone?

Camera can be a pain in the ass, but using the LT, switching between lock-on/ not lock-on and the right stick pretty much solve this issue - it's tough to get into but manual camera control can greatly enhance your combat experience

Well, played through the first chapter and seems to work okay. Picked Hard, but I don't know if that was the right choice, I could be terrible at games.

Only real problem/annoyance I have is that the mouse cursor is there in menus and in some cutscenes. Would be nice if it was hidden all the time when I'm playing with a controller.

Game runs fine for me but I'm getting my ass kicked on the 2nd form of the first Metal Gear. Any tips? Playing on hard may turn out to be too hard :(

A codec conversation didn't come up to tell you to backtrack and cut off an enemy's left hand? Because that's what you're supposed to do (but yes, you can and should be able to cut the gate even without being in the slo-mo blade mode, you just need to be close to the lock and line it up perfectly).

The enemy with the hand got away and they told me to just cut open the gate. I aligned my cut vertically, but it does nothing. After restarting the chapter I tried it with full energy bar, and then the spots where I have to cut the gate are marked like enemy spines during zandatsu, but only during slo-mo blade mode.

I'm not even planning on releasing or finishing this :/
There are some small issues I would need to spend a lot of time on (like I did with DS and DP) and that Platinum can fix far more easily, and I don't have much time right now anyway, and the need is not nearly as large since the game already runs at 1080p with MSAA.

Okay, so here's my 1080p resolution problem:

The image is cut off at the bottom. I have two monitors, a 1080p monitor, and a 1920x1200 monitor. I play games on my 1080p screen.

Revengeance, which is set to 1920x1080, seems to be rendering more 1080 vertical lines for some reason, as you can see by the Steam overlay being cut off in the bottom. I tried disconnecting my second monitor, and I had the same issue.
Most likely, the game is getting confused because it is slightly insane. Try connecting only your 1080p monitor while playing, it should fix your issue. Or simply use windowed mode with a borderless fullscreen hack.

Oh god, I canceled my Steam support ticket to refund my pre-order as soon as I saw that you fixed the resolution cap.

Fix this, Platinum. Pls pls pls

You really need to learn how to parry properly when you play Hard and above or you're going to get your ass kicked, generally.

Most of the attacks the first Metal Gear uses the second time you fight him can be parried, the only option if you can't parry is to try and dodge / jump but that's a lot less reliable.

This is strange. It actually performs better on my integrated HD 3000 than on my old 4670. (4670 can't mantain 30fps on 800x600 while 3000 can.)

Huh. Do you have one or two monitors?

Most likely, the game is getting confused because it is slightly insane. Try connecting only your 1080p monitor while playing, it should fix your issue. Or simply use windowed mode with a borderless fullscreen hack.

I tried both things, and neither solve the issue. If I only have my 1080p monitor connected and run 1080p fullscreen, the Steam overlay is blurry (i.e. not native rez). If I use the windowed mode w/ the borderless fullscreen hack (how I'm currently playing), it still renders "too much," but the Steam overlay is crisp.

Alright beat the first 2 missions on Hard using Keyboard and Mouse (I guess I am the GAF resident of KB&M for action games).

Controls surprisingly well on a KB&M, better than a DMC game I would say on KB. You use the mouse for camera controls and standard attacks, it works out nicely. Ctrl is Run and Shift is Blade Mode, the rest is stuff that is also fairly close to the WASD movement options. I would say doing some of the Stinger/360 type motion moves would be more difficult on KB but still doable. Parrying is fine, works as intended as does Ninja run and other mechanics of the game.

First thing I would do is go in the menu and turn camera sensitivity to at least 8. The camera moves pretty slow in this game if you move it and has a weird acceleration to it. You need it to be a bit fast to move around and adjust on the fly.

I tried on two PCs... on a shitty laptop and one a high end PC. On the laptop, I played it on Medium setting with some effects and it was running the game in underwater mode. After I turned off stuff like Shadows and made the graphics low at a low resolution... it ran fine and very playable. On high end PC it runs 60FPS with no glaring issues.

I ran into a bug on the 2nd phase of the Metal Gear Ray where the music stopped playing and the game was in a very weird state. Had to restart the checkpoint.

Other than that the game's main issue is just the camera. The camera control in the first Ray fight is still asstacular where it starts doing what it wants to do, taking the camera control out of the player.

Ninja Run jump over the big laser beam. Keep ninja running around until he does the physical attack where he gets stuck on the wall/floor then attack it. Against the missiles just go into Blade made and hack away at them. Small projectiles you can just run around in Ninja mode while slashing. Sometimes he goes way back and shoots out stationary missions which you can destroy to get health boosts. Just keep slashing away, at 25% health intervals you get an opportunity to do some blade mode action on him for massive damage. Pretty easy boss fight IMO.

fellow compatriot are you trying to tell me you suck more at this game than the blond girl in the stream? come on man!
I am probably worse. I am even spamming slashes in blade mode because I don't know what else. I might've gotten a C somewhere.

Either I have a really powerful system, or this game is ridiculously optimized.

120fps recording with no seriously perceivable fps drops... my god.

Someone PLEASE unlock the frame rate! :(

I ran into this as well. When i reloaded the fight after i died the camera got stuck on some...houses? And Ray was actually facing the other way while the fight began.

A goon on SA made a pretty good video on the nuances of the combat system. I kinda sucked butt going right in but now I'm psyched again to jump in again.

That video was useful. I learned I could parry the stomp from that rex at the start lol. I was just ninja running around to avoid getting hit and then attack back because I thought I couldn't parry them and I didn't even try.

Yeah same exact bug as me although after the Ray was facing away he turned to fight me again.

Some of those house textures were really lol worthy though.

Anything that has a red flash before it attacks can generally be parried. Anything with a yellow flash can't be parried (it's usually a grab).

So I'm playing this on my laptop with the display fed out to my TV. When I try to switch to full screen, it says the resolution isn't supported. But it totally is.

What gives?

I know this game had some stuff happening with region lock, is the Nuuvem purchase a safe one if I'm in the US? They have it for $16 according to isthereanydeal.

Well, now i tried with my TV and looks that fixed my fullscreen problem, is a bit weird, anyway i only want to play in my TV so if this works, i cant play it.

After playing for about two hours, I can say that the port is absolutely great. The game runs with everything maxed out with no slowdowns whatsoever. And it's beautiful! Thanks, Platinum for the great port!

cleavage + livestream = viewers. don't think i've ever seen a female streamer wearing a jumper zipped up to the neck.

on topic, runs great on my system at 1080p. i'm running a i7 2600k, 8gb ram and a gtx 660. stopped playing it on 360 because the framerate was iffy. glad the pc version is great!

Anyone attempted to run this with shadowplay? I haven't been able to get the game to broadcast or record as of yet.

Edit-
To be more clear Nvidia Shadowplay streaming to twitch.

Looking back it makes perfect sense with how crazy everything else is but I don't usually play stuff like MGRR so I never thought of parrying a giant robot monster foot.

To fix that problem on Crysis I created a custom resolution on AMD Catalyst. Don't know how you do it on Nvidia, but on AMD it goes like this:

  • Open Catalyst
  • Pick "My Digital Flat Panels"
  • HDTV Support
  • Add 1080p 60 NTSC, check that
  • Press add and use the arrows to create a new custom resolution. I use 1912x1076, personally.
It should now appear in the game's settings.

You can also use 1920X1079 (which I used personally for Crysis 2) and it also works!

Works well. No button inputs though.

Interesting thing is you can use the touchpad to guide zandatsu (since it's a mouse input) but you can't actually strike with it. It would be so cool if you could swipe to cut with it, but alas :(

You knew about the resolution cap previously, why even preorder if you had that many problems with it?

Yeah, like the video mentions, you can pretty much parry any attack in the game aside from the ones that happen after the enemy glows golden/yellow. No matter how unrealistic it may seem.
