I don't see how anyone can claim to feel duped by the X1 because it doesn't run games 100% equal to the PS4 or better. There's nothing on the Box or the advertisements that explicitely claims everything you play on this console will be better than the PS4 version. Until it does anyone feeling duped needs to get over themselves and just enjoy the console for the games or trade it in.
When people pay more, they expect more. It's pretty simple.MS was trying to make it seem like there wouldn't be much of a difference before launch. If they had done a better job of selling their ecosystem or Kinect then I doubt there would be as much backlash but the constant claims of differences being tiny was whhat they focused on.

You know that in BF4 PS4 has also better framerate, right? Sure not 30 fps difference but between 5-12 fps in many scenes.

Well that was my point, obviously the gap is a lot wider when keeping the same pixel resolution. Although I wouldn't complain about the framerate in BF4, they both dip even if under the microscope one dips further than the other.

So a measly $399 video game console can accomplish ~60 FPS in TR with spaghetti hair enabled? PC "master race" utterly destroyed and left in tatters.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this news, myself.

Still waiting for $19.99.

Early evidence of wide performance gaps between the PS4 and 'Bone does not bode well for the more expensive system.

Yep. I honestly loved the game. One of my top 10 games of 2013, and the fact that there's not that much to play on my PS4 is making me buy this Day One.

I got to experience the pretty hair last year, and I thought it did really add to the game and make Lara a more believable character. You're getting a good game with some nice tech behind it on either system you pick this one up for.

No one answer this man. If you want to know what's in the thread, read the thread.

To be Fair, can we get the OP updated? Needs some housekeeping. I'll make it easy:

UPDATE #1 said:
Executive Producer Scot Amos confirms on GamesRadar LIVE Q&A:
[time stamp 50:35] http://www.twitch.tv/gamesradar/b/497373767
Q: Soooo, ah FPS?

A: So looking here this is the PS4 version running at 60FPS. So again, at 1080P. That's awesome for us to be able to showcase, because when you get your hands on it.... You feel it for sure. And when you're looking at it, you're like, yeah, thats badass.

UPDATE #2 said:
IGN talks to A Square Enix spokesperson:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/23/tomb-raider-definitive-edition-runs-at-60fps-on-ps4
"Both platforms offer the same outstanding Tomb Raider experience. Delivering the core Tomb Raider gameplay at native 1080p and running at 30fps was always our primary goal given the type of experience Tomb Raider is and the exploration we want players to do. Anything beyond 30fps for this version is gravy."

Tinfoil hat time!

I am still certain that the COD and AC4 1080p path was released after reviews on purpose so there was no discernible difference reviewers could talk about. I expect something similar hear if both games are locked 30 then mysteriously patched later to unlock frame rate. Because I am certain PS4 previews for both games mentioned the 1080p difference, but was mysteriously absent come review/day 1 time then patched later.

Yes, it is somewhat unbelievable that developers "accidentally" left the PS4 at 720p for press previews.

Not sure anyone said that. A lot said there were no differences between the two, or downplayed it. hence resolution-gate being an actual thing. Knowing that there is "no difference", or very little, gives them further confirmation to not switch over to PSN. Everything already on Live, ready to go, your friends are there, no differences in specs, so why bother the trouble?

So I wasn't the only one who thought TressFx added some intrinsic value to the game. I turned the hair off, only to put it right back on when I played it. Framerate hit be damned.

To be honest, after giving it a little more thought, this is not too surprising. Here's why...

We already saw BF4 performance on both consoles. BF4 was running 1600 x 900 on the PS4 vs 1280 x 720 on Xbone in order to achieve framerate parity. It stands to reason then that with the PS4 running 1920 x 1080 @ 60fps, Xbone would have to run 1600 x 900 in order to achieve framerate parity, but it looks like they decided to keep both at 1920 x 1080, so obviously the framerate becomes the variable, 35 vs 55.

Does anyone think that going with 1600 x 900 for the bone would have been a better choice?

No because their first priority was 1080p @ 30FPS anything over that was a bonus, it just happens that the PS4 managed to go up to 60FPS

And that matrix gif is godly.

Impliying that has any relation atall to hardware specs?

He's implying that even though there's a significant height difference between him and his wife, people still say there's a slight difference.

This applies to the people that say there's a slight hardware difference between the PS4 and XBO, when the difference is quite significant as well.

I'm a launch ps4 owner but I did pick up a sealed day one Xbox one for 400 bucks last week. I didn't buy it for the multi platform games, I got it for the exclusives. That being said, I'm so used to the UC games running at 30fps that the xbone version of TR doesn't bother me. That being said, I'm getting it for my ps4.

2-4K textures are going to pop more at 1080P than 720P, and seeing as they replaced every low res texture it's a no brainer.

As said the FPS is just gravy.

Sure, until you played Forza 3 or Burnout Revenge (my favorite racer from last generation) and remembered what 60FPS looks like on a racing game.

You still used a very poor example for your argument. If you're an "xbox man" you would know that 3 out of the 4 PGR releases were 30fps. If anything that would make you believe 30fps is great considering PGR series is arguably the best arcade racing series out there.

Yeah, strange that it's considered a bonus though implying it is frosting to the cake. I'd consider more like the cake itself.

What really pisses me off about these comments is Penello asked if the community would apologize to him if the framerate difference is not more than a few single digits, and yet he has not had the self-respect to come here and apologize to us when the difference is demonstrably massively larger in a myriad of multiplatform titles

can't tell you how much this whole shit this year has soured me on the whole brand

He never promised he would apologize if he was wrong. That is as much as you can expect from a marketing person.

Approximately 30 fps suggests that the game could fall beneath 30 frames per second. Do we know if that's the case?

Both framerates are unlocked, according to the rumor. I believe the initial rumor does say that both games do have the framerates drop in heavy action scenes. So that would be the case if all this turns out to be true. Each would drop under the 30fps/60fps.

Well first I don't think MS had a ps4 on hand to quantify just what the difference were ultimately going to be. I don't think anyone could have predicted what they were going to be and honestly it's still too early to emphatically state what the difference amount to. Different games have different results. We'll have a much better idea in a year or two. The backlash I just personally found weird. I get people don't like Microsoft but with the systems out I figured out it would die down.

The game is going to look much smoother at 60fps than 30fps, and seeing as that is going to lead to faster controller response and better gameplay it's a no brainer.

As said the 2-4K textures is just gravy.

The update states it goes higher than 30 FPS sometimes reaching 45 FPS. Stated the average of the Xbox One version to be above 30 FPS.

Both versions will be better than last gen TR obviously; PS4 TR can reach 60 FPS though.
