Because he came out of the gates swinging. Shit was hot as hell. Making fun of Lux's diva demands and attention grabbing then the bit about smack, cut in on his calicoe performance. His energy and performance were nuts. Whereas I think Lux is a slow burner. His delivery wasn't doing much for me. Bars look dope on paper, but I don't think he had really turnt up yet. Hollow jumped in with rebuttal ability, personals, and turned a crowd that was clearly favoring Lux into one that cheered for him at the end.
Hollow won. I think it's a pretty decisive win too, though I ain't mad at anyone saying Lux won, it was a great battle.
The problem I have with this is that Mook summed this up in SM2 where he addressed smack as to his money demands. Why should Lux who's clearly a vet and a big draw settle for less money? That doesn't make any sense, pay me what I'm worth to this sport. Especially, since he is without no doubt and no debate a pioneer to this sport. And on top of that, he helped Hollow get his biggest draw. Even after this match, Hollow wouldn't be able to command that amount of money.
Lastly, If you don't know Lux's style you're not going to get the full brunt of it until the second listen through, or if someone writes it down for you to analyze it and that's where his genius lies.
yeah. first two are debatable but hollow won them. lux absolutely won the third though.
I'm not knocking Hollow by any stretch. Especially, the circus reference with the "clowns and fire rounds". But even then, it's bullshit because it isn't Lux's fault the crowd reacts to his bars to the point he has to stop, and that's the basic premises to what Hollow's alluding to.
The second verse for sure I got Lux. The bit with the plot and the script where he's talking about his mother was my favorite part of the battle. He murdered it!!
Then followed up talking about Queens and their rappers, and ended it with the epmd reference. Bars for sure.
Hollow decisively the 1st and 2nd. I think Lux came with some shit in the 3rd, enough that it comes down to preference, but again Hollow's content takes away everything from what Lux was building.
Lux was more consistent bar-wise though, throughout the entire battle. In the 3rd Hollow had some real silly bars that could have been cut out entirely. He should've stuck strictly to personals.
Esch linked to it above.
You did your own count including taking away from when the crowd went crazy? It's damn near impossible to know this unless you were Ars.
I guess you can look above for my take on the first two rounds. Like I said, I'm not saying Hollow didn't bring it. This is by far his best battle, and we all know it damn well needed to be considering the level of comp that he was facing.
I wonder if we'll ever get a mook and lux 2 or mook and jones 2. Two bad mook didn't want to do it on sm2.
